Great OS

Hey, i'm new to custom OS scene, but i can say, i started with a great one. I have few questions :

* Do i have to change the bootloader to the one specified (I9506XXSDPL2_I9506XXUDOJ2_bootmodem.tar); If so, what are the advantages for using the one sugested?
* Has anyone experience worst WIFI signal with this ROM?
* Has anyone experience problems with SIM card not being detected sometimes, after a fresh start (is detected if you restart the phone)?
* If you use "adb shell settings put global wifi_sleep_policy 1 command", wifi will turn off with phone in sleep mode ? Also if you receive a message on an app (WhatsApp/Facebook Messenger), and you have the phone in sleep with the mentioned command, you will not get the message until you open the phone and wake up the wifi ?

1. If you don't face any problems you do not need to change the bootloader
2. Wifi signal works good for me
3. Simcard is always detected fast after reboot
4. I believe this powersave "feature" is turned on by default. That means while your phone is in standby the wifi will turn off after some time (don't know the exact timeout). It will reconnect once you wake it up, but you won't receive messages until then. At least that is the default behaviour for me. So if you want the wifi to stay on you would need to put "adb shell settings put global wifi_sleep_policy 2" I guess, but I did not try it till now.

the memory card fills with weird symbols. I have formatted it and it reappears. Has someone happened this?

lineage-15.1-20180331-UNOFFICIAL-ks01ltexx.zip

New build is available (See the first post).
Sync with the latest LineageOS source.

Changes:
https://github.com/kyasu/android_device_samsung_ks01ltexx/commits/lineage-15.1
https://github.com/kyasu/android_kernel_samsung_msm8974/commits/lineage-15.1
Hi Kyasu, thanks for this build. The restart issue I had for past 2 builds where the phone would boot loop at samsung logo and then loose imei/baseband is now more limited in occcurence. Tried to reboot multiple times, happened once so far. The boot loop happens once in a while but it eventually boots without baseband/imei issues.
IR blaster is working (this may have been a false alarm last time, noticed the app (AnyMote) wouldn't work with this rom either, other apps do).
Will continue monitoring.

Dont know if its my mind playing tricks, the wake up delay seems to have got a little worse?. My fingers have gotten used to a delay between home button press and eventual swipe, it appears I am now attempting swipe before screen is awake.

Yes, for me this seems also to be so. But not from today's update on. I think it was some days ago....strange. Maybe GApps issue?

Do you by any chance have the repopicks used in this build somewhere on GitHub? if not, could I be so bold as to ask for a copy?:D

I have seen on a different ROM and device where a specific apps internal file manager (ie file open) lists random characters for folder & filenames. I have a suspicion (not based on any facts whatsoever mind you:silly:) that it has something to do with Magisk. Are you using Magisk? if so, have you tried flashing without Magisk? Are the random characters appearing in every app/file-manager? have you tried over ADB? Does it also appear in TWRP? I'm asking all these questions as i never bothered to investigate, as I only saw it in one app from memory.

I'm not using magisk and I only have the native file manager. The rare characters also appear in twrp. I think my sd card or card reader are damaged because it also happens to me with the original rom

Hi,
I'm using LineageOS 14.1 with latest update.
Can I upgrade directly without swipe and clean data?

Is there an special upgrade way or is it the same like the monthly updates?

Is it daily useable?

When going to another version of Android, I would advise you to perform a clean install.
As always, create a backup before flasing the new ROM.
And yes, this ROM is absolutely useable for daily use.

Hi!

Can you help me to change my wifi policy?
I did not use ADB shell yet ...

thx
1. Download minimal adb and fastboot and install it on your pc: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
2. Turn on Android debugging on your phone in developer options
3. Connect your phone to your pc via USB
4. Start minimal adb and fastboot on your pc, type in the applicable command and hit enter

Command for the "normal" wifi behavior is:
adb shell settings put global wifi_sleep_policy 2

@kyasu suggested this one to save some battery in standby:
adb shell settings put global wifi_sleep_policy 1
