@nels83 Thank you for the update and great support of our device.

With Beta 7 safetynet fails (see attached Photo). I don't know If this is also in beta 6, because before beta 7 i used ddudek77's version and there was it okay.

@ddudek77 do you plan to update TWRP?

Hello Forum,

What is the Step by Step Action to get LineageOS on a GT P 5210 Samsung Tablet?

Odin 3.07

is it a must to install ODIN on PC (Windows 10?) (What is it used for?)
Where to download it safely if needed and which Version? Odin3_v3.09.zip ?

... can i use for example myphoneexplorer
to copy the Files to SD Card?

Is there no Problem with write Protection on SD Card?

First time installing, coming from another ROM

Copy ROM (lineage-14.1-20210307-UNOFFICIAL-suzuran.zip??, is that the newest ROM??) to SDCard
Copy GApps (open_gapps-x86-7.1-pico-20210428.zip??) to SDCard

I downloaded "twrp-3.0.2-0-santos10wifi.zip" - Do i need it? I think its to be able to Flash Tablet,
so need to copy too? to where?

Boot into recovery - How, which command or Button to click?
Backup EFS partition - How, which command or Button to click?
Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Dalvik Cache + System + Cache + Data
Install ROM - How, which command?
Install GApps - How, which command?
Reboot
First start takes a long time

You need Odin to flash the custom recovery to the tablet, look through the twrp thread to see directions on how to flash it with Odin.

To boot into recovery, power and volume up I believe, I'm not sure though as it's a long time since I've had to manually start the tab into recovery. It's probably mentioned in the twrp thread though.

Backup efs partition: boot into recovery, backup > advanced, it should list possible partitions to backup, one of those will be efs.

Install rom / gapps: in twrp, select install, then it will open up a file explorer where you can navigate to the zip files.

Unfortunately I cannot watch any videos. The picture always comes later than the sound. Are there any settings how I can improve this? Reducing the resolution of the video did nothing.

Hey guys, yesterday I flashed my Tab 3 Wifi, it was my first experience flashing Android devices and thanks to all your guides is went ok.

All seems to work except Sonos, it chrashes at startup.

I installed the following:
lineage-14.1-20210426-UNOFFICIAL-santos103g.zip
houdini-5.0-20150521.zip
imei_fix_1_2.zip
imei_fix_2_2.zip
ril_fix.zip
opengaps (x86 --> Android 7.1 --> nano)

As explained in the post https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...al-7-1-2-lineageos-14-1.3587761/post-83480307

Any ideas?
I would like to use the tablet as a remote for my Sonos system.

That SafetyNet failure is likely due to a API key being withdrawn, its cosmetic, test with a 3rd party SafetyNet tester app from the app store...it should pass fine

@Niels83, as you are the expert on this tablet, do you think it would be possible in the future to install Ubuntu Touch on it? As the vendor firmaware is based on Android 4 and Ubuntu Touch uses the earliest version Halium 7.1 (the "translation layer" between Android and Linux) based on Android 7.1, that is an interesting question, rigt?

I think it would be possible. I managed to to port postmarketOS to this tablet (X11 is very laggy, Wayland works). But getting halium to work would be a bit challenging. (At least for me)

Thanks for sharing that! It sounds awesome!

Unfortunately, I am a Linux newb, barely been using Mint for a couple of months. My understanding is that PostmarketOS is based on Arch, I'll first get myself accustomed with the Arch branch first (maybe Manjaro). I've seen some installations on Youtube and at the moment it looks overwhelming for me, so I will wait for a while and learn stuff before trying it.

Congratulations and I look forward to your work!

Ideally, store the backups on an sd card. You can select the backup location from within twrp.

The backup is basically in case of disaster, it's most likely you'll never need it, but on the off chance that you do...

Just a note re: sd card, you may need to remove it for the first boot after flashing the rom, it seems to be random if that issue will affect any particular tablet.

Apologies for the late reply

According to:

houdini-5.0-20150521.zip
imei_fix_1_2.zip
imei_fix_2_2.zip
ril_fix.zip
seems to be fixes for a sonos app Problem and a wlan problem? which one for which Problem?

there is stated to use "lineage-14.1-20190408-UNOFFICIAL-santos10wifi.zip"
and install fixes above...

I found a flash File:
lineage-14.1-20210307-UNOFFICIAL-suzuran.zip
is this a newer Version of the "lineage-14.1-20190408-UNOFFICIAL-santos10wifi.zip"?
for a Samsung Tablet GT P5210 ?
Does it include the patches above?

i download so far:
heimdall-suite-1.4.0-win32.zip
houdini-5.0-2015021.zip
lineage-14.1-20190408-UNOFFICIAL-santos10wifi.zip
lineage-14.1-20210307-UNOFFICIAL-suzuran.zip
Odin3_v3.09.zip
Odin3_v13.1zip
Odin3_v13.3.zip
Odin307.zip
open_gapps-x86-7.1-pico-20210428.zip
ril_fix.zip
twrp-3.02-0-santos10wifi.zip

Questions:
- Which Odin Version to install on pc Windows 10?
- which lineage rom to use?
- how to go on after installation?

As i found out heimdal is similar to odin and to be used to flash roms to tablets..?
is "twrp-3.02-0-santos10wifi.zip" another 3rd Option?

Which one to use best?
in my opion before flah a device the software package lineage-.. .zip needs to
be transfered to device.. which software does it? which software does the flash part itself on the
device then?

i did read about wiping parts of device, where and why?
does flashing not erase all earlier data ?
at the moment no sd card is installed on 5210 therefore only one data store ?ram?)) is available..?

Is there any step by step instruction how to perform this taks?
thx a lot for help! so much new..:>)))

"- Which Odin Version to install on pc Windows 10?"
I use myself odin 3.x last version usually

"- which lineage rom to use?"
lineage-14.1-20210102-UNOFFICIAL-santos10wifi

"As i found out heimdal is similar to odin and to be used to flash roms to tablets..?"
yes, those software is just to install TWRP recovery, then all install is from this recovery

I think you just need to read a full beginner tutorial to answer your other questions:

Thanks a lot

Djiban for the Beginner's Guide Links!

One step further:

1.)

Recovery – After the bootloader loads, the recovery software system will launch the operating system (Android).
In almost all cases, to launch a custom ROM you will also need a custom recovery that differs from the one your device comes with.

therefore i think "twrp-3.0.2-0-santos10wifi" is the "new" recovery Environment to start "llineage-14.1-20210102-UNOFFICIAL-santos10wifi" afterwards... ?
...

2.)
And i could use: Odin3_v3.13.3 as you stated, it's 3.x...:>))

3.)
ADB – Stands for “Android Debug Bridge.” This is a tool that allows communication between a personal computer and an Android smartphone. In most cases, you will need ADB on your computer to complete a flash.

Therefore i assume "Odin3_v3.13.3" is such a Android Bridge?
What is the Difference between ADB and Fastboot?
both seems to be Tools needed, ADB for setup communication.. Fastboot for flashing?

4.)
What exactly is the following and for what needed if ?

houdini-5.0-20150521.zip
imei_fix_1_2.zip
imei_fix_2_2.zip
ril_fix.zip

5.) What is the difference between:
lineage-14.1-20210102-UNOFFICIAL-santos10wifi.zip
lineage-14.1-20190408-UNOFFICIAL-santos10wifi.zip
lineage-14.1-20210307-UNOFFICIAL-suzuran.zip
...?
you recommended "lineage-14.1-20210102-UNOFFICIAL-santos10wifi.zip".. because its the newest?
Are there any regular Updates? If so, how to install them later on?

1)yes twrp recovery is the recovery you'll have to start on to the install lineage os zip file.

2) yes to install twrp recovery

3) no need to'aeb if you install twrp recovery through Odin

4) some mods to improve//correct the rom and its compatibility with the phone , install them in twrp as stated in post ##1 or the other post you've heard of them of

5)2 first differ by dates, don't know about thrid cause you didn't tell me where you got it. 2031-01-02 is the latest, developer will update it maybe. Instructions to install updated lineaged on a previous lineage are in post #1

Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:
    #include
    /*
    * Your warranty is now void.
    *
    * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, ...
    * You flash this at your own risks
    */

    About LineageOS

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Important information

You need a recent TWRP version to flash this ROM.

    Installation

First time installing, coming from another ROM
    • Copy ROM to SDCard
    • Copy GApps to SDCard
    • Boot into recovery
    • Backup EFS partition
    • Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Dalvik Cache + System + Cache + Data
    • Install ROM
    • Install GApps
    • Reboot
    • First start takes a long time

Upgrading from earlier version of LineageOS 14.1
    • Copy ROM to SDCard
    • Boot into recovery
    • Install ROM
    • Reboot

[OPTIONAL] Converting filesystem to F2FS (thanks @michiil)

The ROM has F2FS support. You may want to use it instead of the default (EXT4).

This will delete ALL files/data from your tab.

What you will need: A working PC and a working USB cable.

    1. Install the most recent Recovery
Download the most recent Recovery from the second post. Flash the zip file in recovery. Back in the main menu press Reboot > Recovery
    2. Format Data and Cache to F2FS
Wipe > choose Cache > repair or change file system > change file system > F2FS > Swipe to Confirm
Go back and repeat the same steps with Data. I got some error messages when formatting Data but they don't seem to be a problem.
Back in the main menu press Reboot > Recovery
    3. Install Rom + Gapps
Connect your tab to your PC and copy the zip files on the tab.
Flash the files, reboot and enjoy :good:

How to get back to EXT4

You will again loose all files/data on the tab.
Just repeat Step 2 but use EXT4 instead of F2FS.

    • Go to 'Developer options'
    • Tap on 'Root access'
    • Select 'Apps only' ('Apps and ADB' if you plan to use it in adb shell)

    How to help

When something is not working correctly, in addition to common informations, I may ask you to provide logs. There are different kind of logs and it's not always easy to get all of them. For this, you can use SysLog (available on F-Droid or Google Play).
Make sure to root device before using this app.

    To get the logs:
    • Start SysLog
    • Click on 'TAKE LOG'
    • Once log is taken, SysLog will try to share the resulting file, just cancel
    • Send me the file /sdcard/SysLog/[YYYY-MM-DD_HH.mm]/[YYYY-MM-DD_HH.mm].zip

If you left 'Scrub potentially personal information from the logs' checked, you should be safe.

@nels83 Since there hasn't been any update to the 14.1 version for several months, do you happen to be working on a 15.0 version? If so, please let us know what we can do to help development!

    Cheers

I'm still working on 14.1 (big RIL cleanup). I'm also trying to fix these annoying FCs caused by OpenGL but it's really time consuming (for me at least...) since it happens in proprietary files.
Development slowed down for personal reasons (new house and a daughter in 1st grade :victory:).

Anyway, I'll upload an updated version with November security fixes even if OpenGL FCs are not gone.

As many of you know now, development on this device slows down from time to time since I work alone on this but I always come back ;)

    Beta 2 uploaded

    Hi there,

Beta 2 has been uploaded (LOS released November security patches yesterday).
Major change is the removal of substratum patches. I'm sorry for those of you who use it but I suspect some problems may come from these and it will be easier for me to focus on "pure" LOS stability.
There is also some RIL work: network should be more stable and audio calls should be crystal clear (added wide-band support). Again, since I don't own a 3G or LTE device I can't test it so let me know ;)
Last thing is a possible SDCard fix for those who experience bootloops.

I'm now working on OpenGL FC's and audio fixes (mic and volume).

    Happy flashing
