LGV20 H918 Lineage OS 16.0 ir blaster fixed!

Hey guys I'm a long time Lg v20 h918 user and I tried different ROMs in the past but they were not stable enough for daily use forcing me to use Oreo 8.0 stock rom.
Until recently flashed Lineage OS 16 lineage-16.0-20200409-X86CPU-h918-10p.zip very stable the only complain was my ir blaster didn't work properly the way to fix that all you have to do it's flash gamma kernel and Wala enjoy!

I decided to finally flash "lineage-15.1-20200506-X86CPU-us996.zip" after previously using stock Oreo on the LG V20 US996.BPT.

What is generally given to work seems to work and what is given to not work does not work.

However, I did notice that while charging works using a standalone charger connected via cable to the LG V20, charging does not work when connecting the LG V20 US996.BPT to a computer via a USB cable, although a charging indicator icon is provided in the status bar. I tried connecting to both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 controllers and used both USB 3.1 Gen 2 Cabling and USB 2.0 cabling to test. I also tried changing modes from USB charge only to Transfer Mode, but it did not seem to make a difference in ability to charge. Are others also experiencing this no charging when connected via USB to a computer?

I have this problem too. It never occurred to me the OS was at fault.

@x86cpu - For the LG G5 US996, there are two different builds available, one with a trailing "-DS" before the file extension and one without. That is they are of the following form:
lineage-15.1-[DATE]-X86CPU-us996.zip
lineage-15.1-[DATE]-X86CPU-us996-DS.zip​
I could not find an explicit differentiation between the builds documented by you in the thread or the Google Drive distribution, only various and different speculation by others. My best guess was that you have a different build than normal intended for Dirty Santa bootloader users of US996; however, a special build for dual screen support is also plausible.

Please explicitly clarify what are the differences between the builds.
EDIT: After trying a different search criteria than that which I tied in the past for this thread I found a statement from x86cpu:

There was another thing I noticed that I forgot to mention, though it seems that it has been partially mentioned by others in this thread: SD Card (external) is given as corrupt after fresh install via TWRP 3.3.1-1 of "lineage-15.1-20200506-X86CPU-us996.zip" AND coming from stock. The problem does not manifest if not coming from stock (Such as from a wipe and reinstall of the ROM). It appears that the formatted partition is set as write protected. One would think that the ROM would still allow at least reading write-protected partition, but it appears that that is not the case.

To workaround the issue the SD Card data may be backed up and repartioned, then the backed-up contents may be restored. Alternately, the diskpart utility from Windows NT6+ might also be unable to unset the write protection.

I am uncertain whether it matters, but my SD card is partitions an a single exFAT partition; the SD card is a 128 GB card.

There is also an issue working with APKs on external SD card, where they may not always be fully accessible/parse-able by apps excluding Package installer, especially after a move or copy to a different location. The problem appears to manifest for both the LG V20 US996 and RS988 x86cpu LineageOS 15.1 builds.

is needed for me to walk stock 8 up to current 18.1
problem is only copy i can find is on gogle drive, and that is NOT working for me at all.
no google downloads work. period.

i am dying for a rom that can let me walk these phones up to our current state of development
someone pleas help

you need to update from nougat if you want the fingerprint reader to work, you don't need to update to each lineage before flashing 18.1, I went from nougat to 18.1, and it's working fine.

i am not interested in a fingerprint reader, or a exchange services,

i am just looking for the basic basics

when i load 18, or 17 it get a loading loop that puts me back into TWRP, and no joy

edit: how do i thank some one for thier reply?
i see like quote, reply, and report,,,but no thank you option?

    These are my UNOFFICIAL builds of LineageOS-15.1 for LG V20 variants. I did NOT create this ROM. I am helping to contribute to this ROM. Thanks to all other coders who contributed to LineageOS.

    IMPORTANT
    • BACKUP! These are UNTESTED builds. Please be ready to recover your previous ROM. If it kernel panic, boots into bootloader, etc... grab as much info as you can.
    • Builds are done periodically (see download below)
    • Do NOT be rude.
    • Respect all users.
    • Any and all users, please help each other. I have a us996 variant, so other variants might have some issues.



    Known items
      • Lack of 2nd Screen Support
      • VoLTE and WiFi calling do not work yet
    • Other known issues (same as OFFICIAL too):
      • us996 static on boot: Unlock bootload from LG, using dirty santa causes static on boot, will not fix. (sorry)
      • WiFi or Bluetooth MAC is "00:00:00:00:00:00" - You wiped the misc partition, you'll need to fix: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70474540&postcount=12
      • 5Ghz tether not working due to "error"
      • Enabling ADB Debugging in development setting can cause a kernel crash. If you are quick and press OK right away, it will take and still crash. On reboot, it will be enabled.
      • H918 - ARB1 .. flash the 10p version, ARB0..flash the PRE10p. (10p is where the ARB got tripped to 1)

    Install
    • You can upgrade from 14.1 (UNOFFICIAL) to 15.1. If you are not on my UNOFFICIAL yet, flash the to-x86cpu.zip first (and reboot recover before upgrade, not reboot into system).
    • I would suggest the TWRP from Phoenix591 (See Thanks section below)
    • Flash to-x86cpu.zip if you want. (See Downloads below)
    • Flash UNOFFICIAL ROM
    • Wipe cache, and dalvik cache
    • Magisk if you choose
    • Flash GAPPS (I use nano)
    • Reboot and wait....

    Bugs
    If you encounter issues/bugs that are not known, please report. This is not the OFFICIAL ROM, but I can help to get any issues fixed. I use the us996 variant. If I can replicate your issue then I can track it down. If I cannot, please provide as much detail as possible. Logcats are great.
    Please indicate what v20 variant you have (h910, h918, ls997 us996, vs995, h990/ds) and what you are running (OFFICIAL or UNOFFICIAL) and date. Any mods (no judgment) as well.
    I am aware people run mods or change things. I am not against it (as I do myself). However, if needed I may ask you to data wipe (you can say no), or remove a mod that might be interfering. I will do the best I can.

    Surprise! I still am here, real life/work is getting busy, so been quiet for a bit. I also try to ensure I test each UNOFFICIAL I release so it does not cause issues. Plus building for all LG msm8996 devices (g5/g6/v20) takes about 8-14 hours (14 devices). Includes test flashing the ROM on my dev devices. I also use a v20 for my daily driver, so I ensure that works as well before releasing things. This might be the last one for a while before/and/or 3.14.

    * Updated Lineage sources, nothing majorly new or fixed. The Oct security updates are included.

    What is not working or problematic

    What is not working or still wonky:

    • Encryption -- Works.
    • USB OTG -- Should be working.
    • Ambient display -- Disabled now.
    • Livedisplay -- Should be working.
    • IR will work, then timeout, then work again.
    • Video recording -- Should be working. Works sometimes, appears to record, but playing back audio is at the beginning, video at the end, and the duration is messed up.
    • 5g tether -- Not working still.
    • No FM driver.
