That was my understanding as well. From what I have read going to a previous version of the OS once the KK bootlloader is installed is a no go. However as I read the thread above it appears that the only way to get the KK bootloader is to Odin the stock KK and then go with your custom rom. Since I have not done that I went back to a TWRP backup of Cleanrom while I sort out my issues.I'm confused. I thought if one could only run Hashcheck if the tablet was upgraded to Kitkat. Is that true?
And next question -- if one finds they don't like it, is it possible to restore a CleanRom nandroid, even though CleanRom is based on 4.2?
Seems like with my Verizon Galaxy Note 3 one needs to commit to either Kitkat or JB and there is no going back and forth. Is it different with this tablet?
Thanks in advance for any info.

I did make the changes manually to XML file to enable external card access. With that change I was able to get Titanium Backup to write to the external card so i discounted that as causing my Kindle and Dropbox issues. Perhaps a clean install of the Rom along with a clean install of Kindle and Dropbox would be the way to go. I did uninstall both apps several times so I am at a loss. Since they are working on your device it is clearly not the ROM. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'll keep investigating.I can say without a doubt that the Rom is not the cause of your kindle woes. I run this Rom and the kindle app and have downloaded a number of books since I installed it without any issues. Drop box also works as I use it. You may want to run one of the sd card fixes mentioned earlier in this thread. Your apps may lack permission to write to your external sd card (assuming you have one installed).
