It works because developer preview is the same and will not change any registry entries. It also works with updating GDR2 to GDR3, why it shouldn't work for 8.1?


@djtonka: No, it isn't like Ativ. Also if Huawei fixes the bug, this is not a diag tool like Samsung Ativ S, but this is full FS access bug, thats why interop unlock will be still there!

Huawei can update bootloader. Sammy did this, we can't use old ROMs on GDR3 now.

They can update bootloader, but previous registry entries never change! Updates does not change registry, @reksden installed leaked GDR1 ROM, updated to GDR2 via OTA, and installed GDR3 with DevPreview. Voila - he has 3 rows of tiles and interop is still there!

If Huawei updates bootloader, we can flash back to @WojtasXda GDR1 or GDR2 Rom and old bootloader will be there....

In this situation, if you want to perform HR - you need to reflash GDR1 and do all the update process up to the latest version.

I'm getting an error everytime I try to install it. It says:"Update was successfully downloaded, but could not be opened."
Does somebody know why and/or a solution? Or should I just try again later?

Problem with the update to WP8.1 lies with the M$. Some components need to be updated by the manufacturers. MS already working on this ... Patience

Easy for W1-U00. The key is firmware revision.



C00 is still under test, need older ROM than v5410

finally got wp8.1 update, did jailbeak after it. Still have access to partition but no interop at all. Can't connect to WPPT and there is missing registry folder

Work on the Rom have been practically completed . The only problem is the lack of possibility to flash in a simple way.

How to flash ?
So... The whole update process will proceed in two steps. The first step is flashing the ROM in which certain features are unlocked (required for flashing custom GDR3 ROM). Performance of the system, its working, etc have not been changed. ROM allows to upgrade to GDR3. The second and last step concerns flashing Custom ROM GDR3.

! REMEMBER! Everything you do at your own risk.


Step 1 !

a) Download ROM and Flash tool

b) Run "HWDiagnosticApp", turn on "Diag settings" and reset phone.

c) Run Flash Tool , select ROM file / Config XML and click "Scan && Download".

d) Now your phone should reset and start in download mode.

If your phone does not want to start the download mode, use QPST​

e) When phone displays 100%, and the inscription OK. The process of flashing rom is complete. Now you need Reset the phone (press power button on 15 sec or remove battery). Flash tool displays information about the bad file FFU, just ignore it .

I have flash the ROM in the first post, but the build is NOT interop unlocked, and the build version is 8.0.10327.77. Anything wrong? I can see the boot screen which has a red sentence "First Custom ROM".

So... I was success unpacking language files from my Lumia 520, here's guide how to install it . But keep in mind that I've not tested it because I haven't got a W1, it should work, and also if fail, you can't brick your phone.

The Ascend W1 should be connected to computer in mass storage mode. Copy the folder in the zip file at Windows\System32. Then apply the following registry entries:

@nilezon: For Swedish you need to use sv-SE instead of nl-NL and:

, not

 sz:svenska

Now language should appear, if you apply it, all should be in this lang, except the voice, I will work on that

IMPORTANT: Don't write "sz:" and "hex:"!! They are only there for know what kind of key to make!!!
All keys must be created! They are not there, you must create it!
