Hi All !!

After a long break, I would like write new information

I finish build new tool that will be used to flash custom ROMs. Of course, the tool is able flash everything to the device memory ( WM6.5, wp7/wp8 or Windows RT), but let's concentrate on WP8

Work on Custom Rom have been completed . ROM to be recorded using the new flash tool which is being completed. ROM file is divided on the parts and so will be flashed to the device but ultimately this may change.

Below you can see the appearance of a new Flash tool. Public version may look something a bit different (Certainly will be in English) .

That video is showing the trick for emulator,

what about in real life scenario?

even if we can modify the registry via jailbreak, we still not sure which value need to be changed

Acctually i have 8.1 (with interop, devunlock , capabilities, langs, bla bla bla... etc...) ROM in my W1-U00. I do not see any reason that I could not try to prepare something for the w1-C00 but I not have this phone

for 2 weeks I had very limited access to a computer. Now remains is to prepare ROM to flash

So... I was success unpacking language files from my Lumia 520, here's guide how to install it . But keep in mind that I've not tested it because I haven't got a W1, it should work, and also if fail, you can't brick your phone.

The Ascend W1 should be connected to computer in mass storage mode. Copy the folder in the zip file at Windows\System32. Then apply the following registry entries:

@nilezon: For Swedish you need to use sv-SE instead of nl-NL and:

 hex:041D

, not

 hex:413

 sz:svenska

, not

 sz:Netherlands

Now language should appear, if you apply it, all should be in this lang, except the voice, I will work on that

IMPORTANT: Don't write "sz:" and "hex:"!! They are only there for know what kind of key to make!!!
All keys must be created! They are not there, you must create it!

I'm trying to install the ROM, but it won't work.

First I tried the WP8 flash tool, which initially didn't show any devices. Then I tried QPST, first I installed the qcom usb driver, and then I tried simpleio which failed. Then I installed QPST and rebooted, and then I tried the flash tool which now detected my device, but it gives me the Firmware (HandShake Fail) error.

Obviously simpleio is essential to the installation but that gives me a generic Installation has failed error.

I'm on Windows 8.1 Pro x64 Dutch. I ran everything as Admin, with UAC otherwise off. If there's any more information you need, just let me know.

Wow, i bought this device two months ago for 65€. Now i updated it to 8.1. Thats the cheapest WP 8.1 device, i've ever seen! And the battery-time is 3-4 days!
Thank you very much bringing WP 8.1 to the Ascend W1 this easy way.

If you have any problems flashing the rom, please use a 32bit-Windows. For me it works with XP 32bit in a virtual machine.
