I was having that issue with CM11 and just could not get it to boot at all. The recovery I used with this rom was with philz. All i did was use the wipe to flash new rom option under factory data wipe and nothing else. Flashed rom and lollypop gapps and reboot to system and it worked. I was surprised that i had no issues.
The main camera was definitely working for me. And I could switch between forward (selfie) and back facing without any problem. And yes, agreed about early release and bugs and the smoothness! Looks like sbrissen is rapidly addressing the main bugs. Looking forward to having a working GPS so I can start using cm12 as my daily distro!
So, where is this new cm12 with the fixed pixelation?
What recovery did you use to flash the rom, and how did you do it? I used CWM, wiped for a clean flash, and my rear camera does not work.
I've been using Philz Touch 6.48.4-i605. Just did a dirty flash over my cm11, with, of course, the usual clearing the cache and dalvik cache.
I just tried calling myself from another phone, and it rang and showed up correctly on this one, showing who was calling, etc. I answered, and that worked, too.
I just called myself a couple of times, and I could both "dismiss" and "answer" the phone call from the drop-down, heads-up display. SMS seemed to work fine, too (though the text message didn't automatically open a drop-down; I had to drag down the upper-left corner; did yours do that?) Edit: actually, I've since received a couple of SMS, while the phone was asleep, and it DID drop down a heads-up display, and I could just click on that to respond to the text (had to double-click, actually)

Looks like I have the same problem with MMS. It would appear to have sent a pic, got no complaints anywhere, but in fact it didn't send. Thought I'd found a solution in Settings > Data Usage > toggle "Cellular data". But then the pic showed a little blinking dot, as if it was trying to send, but it never did. When I just now went back to check the "Cellular data" toggle, it had turned itself back off. So I turned it back on, clicked the back button, then went back to look and the toggle had turned itself off immediately.
Although you got it booting meanwhile, you didn't get a log, did you?
Found another small issue, swipe doesn't seem to work on android keyboard but I installed Google keyboard and got swipe to work on that one.
theres lots of keyboard settings, make sure its enabled.
Had this problem with my other device. I'm pretty sure it's a known issue. The only fix I've seen is to install the Google keyboard.
I ported this over to my l900 and gps, sms, and calls all work.I am one of those guys that has the texting issue when flashing CM. Well, to my pleasant surprise, I have no issues with this. I can send and receive text and pics.
My only complaint is the GPS. But I totally understand and have faith that it will be fixed.
One more thing. I've run 4 or 5 different versions of lollipop on my nexus tablet and to me this is the best.
