After several hours of use. It's laggy again

Sorry for my bad english.

It used to be the same for me (lag, freeze, force close), I have done a hard reset and reinstalled all applications except the following one :

- Quick Setting
- Beautiful widget (I have seen another guy that had same troubles as me and discover Beautiful widget was involved)
- Apn ON/OFF (KIES update left thi app but after the hard reset, this app was identified by the market as not compatible to my galaxys !!!)

That's ok now

Urgent, I don't have much time left. I gotta go off very soon, can this help me fix my Black Screen of Death? I'm currently at 2.3.3 will there be any risks if I flash it without entering recovery mode?

Hello! New here

Not an expert on flashing but flashed JW4 2 weeks ago and I've had two "BSoD" black screen of death crashes and the phone lags A LOT!

After reboot its fine for about 3 or 4 days, then things get almost impossible to use and it crashes.

History:
Was on stock Australian Optus 2.3.3... this had battery drain issue.

I flashed (using odin) to 2.3.4 JVR, this was very good but phone.apk crashed and phone was not usable as actual phone, kept disconnecting calls!

I had JVR 2.3.4 for about 8 months, phone app started crashing only in last 2 months.

So I found this guide:
h t t p://androidadvices.com/update-galaxy-gt-i9000-pack-xxjw4-236-firmware/

and flashed the phone to XXJW4...
(I did full cache wipe/restore before AND after the JW4 flash...)

I've read this thread from page 1 to page 43, and it seems a 70% of people have no issues, and 30% have issues like me (lag, crashing, BSoD).

I see two possible reasons as discussed here, one being TW 4.0 is buggy and causing the crashing, two being that the included tar file was not a "FULL CLEAN" update.

Can someone post a link to a full upgrade (3 file????) JW4? I would like to do a full clean restore using Odin.

Also any instructions on how to do this?

Do I simply flash JW4 again using 3 file version and see how it is? or should I go to JW1?

Thanks in advance,
Qb

Did you jvu value pack from android advices or xda developers? That must be the best firmware in GB.

Well I'm into my 3rd week using JW4 and the dreaded phone.apk crash has resurfaced again!

My phone calls cut out, disconnect and have constant issues... just like on 2.3.4 JVR... think I might need to do a full wipe of the phone.

I did a full "factory reset" from the phone settings and restarted the phone.

Then I shut it down and flashed JW4 again, but this time using the 3 files version (PDA,PHONE,CSC).

Just finished setting up my phone to my preferences, its running much faster now but time will tell if the lag, crashing, lockups and phone app crashing issues come back again (last time it took only a week for JW4 to crash and have issues).

However before I flashed only the single "tar" file of JW4 over the top of my 2.3.4 JVR... did that file only update one part of the phone?

What is the difference between them?

Hoping this fixes the issues I had before.

EDIT:
Kies is showing a firmware update, seems to be JW4 PHONE/PDA with JW5 CSC.... anyone tried?

I still feel JW4 and all the value pack "ICS" ROMs are not stable yet. Having random reboot from time to time. So far the best ROM for I9000 is still the JVT ROM cause it has improved GPS + stability as well.

No such problems with JW4. Never had a random reboot. Just do a clean flash.

As some poster stated above, it is just JW4 with a new CSC. Nothing to test.

Same for me. I'll stick with JVT. Seems to be the most stable release for me. And I dislike TW4 in JW4 ;)

To those of you who get bootloops after flashing:

Go into download mode, and flash this, via odin, after you unzip it. (i.e. flash the .tar file, as usual - not the zip).

    View attachment dbdata.zip

    Cheers :)

Explanation: The bootloops are caused because the dbdata file is missing from the rom (it's just a Kies upgrade, not a full rom), and you probably ticked repartition when flashing.

I seriously ask myself if Samsung has only idiots as developers.
This new firmware is the worst I've ever seen:
Nearly all new games like temple run are lagging while they are working fine on ICS.
touch sensitivity is just incredible bad and because of that handling is sluggish. Sometimes swipe is working sometimes not and instead u open an app.
Don't they test their roms they bring out and don't they compare them to other roms which are out there to get a benchmark?
They would see that their roms are the worst out there.
    I'm so angry about this.
Since the last "value pack" they had month and still there's the charging bug so when battery is lower than 15% phone states "charging" instead of "low battery".
Come on - are these guys total amateurs?
Can a developer be so blind and dumb? Just one look in a xda firmware thread and they could see so many bugs. Bugs which are existing for months now.
Will go back to ICS. Sammy should pay these guy, because all the big developers are doing here is 100% better than what sammy devs are doing.
