I'm on XXJW4 since a month, and I find it the best release yet!
I mean no overclocking, no extra scripts, just a root and ext4 partitioning is all i did..
And it's stable as rock

I still feel JW4 and all the value pack "ICS" ROMs are not stable yet. Having random reboot from time to time. So far the best ROM for I9000 is still the JVT ROM cause it has improved GPS + stability as well.

I agree, been on this rom since the 12th of May, abit over 2 weeks and I've had 4 or 6 hard crashes where I had to hold the power button down for 10 seconds to reset the phone.

3 times during browser usage, and 2 times just randomly....

At last the phone app does not crash and calls are 100% fine.

I had 2.3.4 JVR before and it was super stable as a phone (went for 6 weeks without crash) but the phone app would have issues and I couldnt make calls or receive calls!

I have done the most clean install I could (see my previous post), so cant do much more.

But overall I'm happy as I can at least use the phone as a PHONE...

Hey guys, does anyone expiriance overheating with this rom? Some program shows about 44*C when its on WiFi downloading something, and about 30*C idle. But when im using it display is also warm, not only back. Well now, maybe it just feels like that to me since i got it yday and my last phone didnt heat like SGS, but i used friends SGS before and i think it didnt have warm display, just back. Btw phone is working all good, with no lags. But very unpleasnt to work on warm display :/... Thanks for answers.

I think Sammy darling is playing with SGS I9000 owners, just like a bar dancer plays with poor souls.. feeling teased n insulted but still glued to their seats in hope of getting something they desire eventually..
Nobody wants same old buggy "Value Packs" with some cheap touch-ups.. same phone.apk crashes, weak wifi signal even in 35feet distance with no solid walls in between, random reboots, gps fail, stupid face-lock feature, ugly cripple launcher, junkyard samsung apps, no voice or video chat feature in gtalk, deaf google voice search, why combine screenshot feature with back button, isn't it dumb thing to do bcz as soon as u press back button it'll get u out of screen which u wanted to shot, etc.

Definetly %100 agreeing!
sammy left us with a fw called value crap with bugs..

Sorry people but i dont see jw5/6/7/8 are like rom! The biggest stuffs are coming with open europe firmwares such as jvq/jvt/jw4...

i am on jvq for a week and i can say it is.much better than value packs...

Laggy browser

I used to use XXJVU leaked value pack earlier , then switched completely to Jellybean CM10 nightlies , which are damn smooth.

I flashed this ROM a few weeks ago because the ringtone volume in CM10 is too low and all audio boosting apps result in cracking sound.
This ROM is better than XXJVU in all but one aspect. In both CM10 and XXJVU , i had got used to a smooth browser, but in JW4-8 , i tried all of them , whenever i use a heavy webpage , scrolling results in chequered boxes , which tend to remain for atleast 10secs. i tried every solution available , but cant fix it. It never occured in XXJVU / CM10 . I even tried copying Browser.apk and .odex from XXJVU and replacing the JW4 browser , but still the same problem occurs,

When i use the browser files from JW4 in JVU , there are no lags at all , which says clearly that the browser is not responsible , there is some serious flaw in the framework.

If anybody is facing the same issue, or has a solution to it , then pls help me out. I love CM10 JB but if my mobile is in another room , 9/10 times i cant hear when someone's calling me.

You try to flash a custom rom in a stock recovery

First flash a rootkernel with Odin.
So you get root and cwm. There you can flash Roms.

To those of you who get bootloops after flashing:

Go into download mode, and flash this, via odin, after you unzip it. (i.e. flash the .tar file, as usual - not the zip).

    View attachment dbdata.zip

    Cheers :)

Explanation: The bootloops are caused because the dbdata file is missing from the rom (it's just a Kies upgrade, not a full rom), and you probably ticked repartition when flashing.

I seriously ask myself if Samsung has only idiots as developers.
This new firmware is the worst I've ever seen:
Nearly all new games like temple run are lagging while they are working fine on ICS.
touch sensitivity is just incredible bad and because of that handling is sluggish. Sometimes swipe is working sometimes not and instead u open an app.
Don't they test their roms they bring out and don't they compare them to other roms which are out there to get a benchmark?
They would see that their roms are the worst out there.
    I'm so angry about this.
Since the last "value pack" they had month and still there's the charging bug so when battery is lower than 15% phone states "charging" instead of "low battery".
Come on - are these guys total amateurs?
Can a developer be so blind and dumb? Just one look in a xda firmware thread and they could see so many bugs. Bugs which are existing for months now.
Will go back to ICS. Sammy should pay these guy, because all the big developers are doing here is 100% better than what sammy devs are doing.
