hello. where can I download 14.1 official?

The usage statistics for all versions of lineageOS on i9100 indicate that the most popular is lineage-14.1-20181216-nightly-i9100-signed.zip.
The checksum on the AFH server is the same as the sum from the file on my disk.

But please before the download, read serious warning in my messages on the page here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/bugs-official-lineage-os-14-1-galaxy-s2-t3649329/ - for you get know exactly what to be aware about this ROM. I guess many people after installing LOS 14.1 on GT-I9100 then just quietly returned back to Android 4.1.2.

Yes that's true. But many newer apps not working on 4.1.2.
If you only uses the phone for calling 4.1.2 is the better Rom.

I use it much more than just a phone but as a powerful smartphone with Android 4.1.2. For the instance, sometimes photos taken by my old Galaxy S2 reveal instantly wider dynamic range than same photos taken by expensive Sony photodevice! And I can show they as a proof. This is why I keep my old S2.

But if you will flash the custom ROMs, agressively promoted here then you will have a trouble even with using your S2 as just a phone...

March 2021 build, installed --> all fine (y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)

Only note, not depending on the ROM, I can only install with TWRP 3.0.2-1 - any other version the ROM flash will fail o_O - does anybody have any clue?

with apologies also for delay, no sorry, unless hash reveals your 3.1.0-0 was a bad copy, or just attempt failed with a bad write. (That version has worked for me as for earlier recommendations.)
Both (certainly 3.0.2-1, and also probably the then-new 3.1.0-0) are thought ok to work with all/most IsoRec kernels according to https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cial-26-04-2016.3330457/page-32#post-71384669 and preceding post. (FWIW I was staging from recovery-Lanchon-IsoRec-2.8.7.0-20160113-i9100-(by-arnab).zip and
kernel-Lanchon-20160406-cm-13.0-i9100 )
Obviously "if it ain't broke..." feel free not to flash 3.1.0 from 3.0.2-1, though I say that without considering change-logs or backing-up or ease of downgrading after a trial with 3.1.0.
About the Trim support: is it still there?
Yes - it's the last commit in https://github.com/LineageOS/android_kernel_samsung_smdk4412/blob/cm-14.1/drivers/mmc/ (ditto for default LOS17.0 branch)
with date (March 3, 2016; 5 years ago) corresponding to merge into CM13 (also 12 & 11)
as described by "Update: Victory!!!!" in https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/kernel-trim-speeding-up-the-galaxy-s2-i9100.2843238/ .
lately the command seems doing nothing..
In case it's been re-partitioned as F2FS (or maybe FAT mounted without DISCARD), note it won't per https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/kernel-trim-speeding-up-the-galaxy-s2-i9100.2843238/post-65709890 , but as mine's predominately ext4, I thank you for bringing this process to my attention. Cheers!

I don't know if this is the place for troubleshooting questions. If not, moderators please feel free to move my question to the right forum.

I'm running Lineage 14.1 without a problem on my Samsung S2 for years. Yesterday after hours of audio listening I noticed the battery charge had run down to the point where the indicator sign turns red. The UI had got stuck and I could only press and hold the power button to re-boot (after charging the battery for a few minutes).

However, the boot process would only get to the splash animation screen with the blue bubbles moving right to left, endlessly. How can I make Lineage boot again?

Thanks in advance for solutions or helpful hints.

best regards,
Phil

ps
my toolbox: ADB, Fastboot, Odin, Heimdall...

what I've tried already (to no avail, however): TWRP wipe cache and wipe ART cache

Hi there,

Sorry late reaction. Vacation ;). Try to get the kernel log via Recovery. The previous boot is stored here /proc/last_kmsg. I guess there is a corruption on your data-partition which you don't want to format unless you have made a backup recently.
Hi rINanDO,
thanks anyway. Meanwhile I've done even more damage I'm afraid by restoring the System partition. I didn't take into account there must be something like a First-Boot Flag or the like. I wouldn't have had no clue how to reset to the previous state anyway. So the system booted into the regular setup routine...

I've got a working 'sister ship' running the same LineageOS-Version 14.1-21812.16-NIGHTLY-i9100. I don't use it much so it's not really up to date. Anyway, some banking QR-code apps wont be transferable for security reasons so I'll have to get new initialization QR codes sent by mail.

Now I'd rather prefer to upgrade to a more recent version of Lineage.
What's your suggestion for my little Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100?

You should try it out LOS 18.1. It is reasonable stable. I think some reboot issues were also in LOS 14.1. Those aren't solved yet since it happens too rare to get detailed logs about these crashes is difficult. Give it a chance and see if it works for you. I'm working time to time on LOS 18.1 but not older versions unless someone needs some help.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Root is not included by default on LineageOS 14.1. You need to install an add-on via recovery. You only need to install this once. You can download the SU add-on here
After installation go to Settings>Developer Options>Root access and set to Apps only or Apps and ADB.

LineageOS comes with LineageOS Recovery by default, if you don't like it (like me ;)) you can flash alternative recoveries using IsoRec. You really need 1GB /system partition. The smallest build-configuration is larger than 512mb. You can use ODIN, but you can also use Lanchon's REPIT.

If you're interested in BLN, check this thread for a complete support of this feature.

Hi there you all diehard S2 users,

As a few of you all users know, last couple months I'm working and testing PegasusQ-governor with a new PowerHAL. I'm planning to make this the default governor instead of on-demand to get same performance and better battery life. I resolved the issue PegasusQ with the 150Mhz fix of zeitferne so it is stable to use.

    What does the new PowerHAL?
    Currently the PowerHAL does this:
    • Powersave : conservative governor
    • Balanced: On-demand governor
    • Performance: performance governor

The new PowerHAL supports PegasusQ governor by tweaking its settings (like its big brother i9300 does):
    • Powersave : PegasusQ freq limited to 600Mhz
    • Balanced: PegasusQ freq standard profile
    • Performance: PegasusQ fixed freq 1200Mhz (still drops to 800Mhz when CPU is getting hot. This is by-design and not managed by governor)
Also we will have PegasusQ boosting:
    • Frequency will be boosted for 2 secs when an app launches
    • Frequency will be shortly boosted when interacting with the device for more responsiveness
    • Less aggressive profile when the display is turned off to save battery (using max 1 cpu max 600Mhz in PowerSave)

I'm planning to submit the following commits in next weekly, but I want to notify you all first about these changes:
    https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/168813/
    https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/168815/

What I like to know is if PegasusQ is really improving battery and/or performance when we set it to default governor.
It must be set to default governor (at boot) because of the permissions which needs to be set at boottime.
Otherwise the PowerHAL doesn't have permissions to tweak PegasusQ and we miss all the nice features.
When the experience with PegasusQ is poor, I will revert the commits so we switch back to on-demand.

    • For those who wants to test PegasusQ + new PowerHAL right now, download my unofficial build here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195918750
    • For those who wants to test performance with Official build: Keep track of your battery life until next weekly and compare after you updated officially
    • For those who don't want take any risk with PegasusQ until tested: Don't update your phone at least 2 weeks

In my case I got about 10% more battery life and PowerSave now actually saves power. However Antutu Benchmark maxed out at about 18100 (instead of 19500 with ondemand).
I hope this will be the also the case on your devices.

@the.gangster: I think it can just put LineageOS recovery two times, and since it is an option it can be disabled by the user.
And maybe it can be extended to auto-flash it when the phone come from a not-IsoRec kernel but it is just my opinion.

    They have removed us: https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/161752/
I hope someone fix sepolicies before the next nightly build raid.
It is already fixed. The faulty commit is reverted and I requested to add our device again. https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/162099/
