Edit: Touchkey brightness lights settings are not working yet in this build. The option is available but not yet operational. The LEDs are still working
The lights are just disabled?
Is it safe to use or it can cause problems?
:)
Even if @rINanDO replied already while I was still taking screenshots.
It's safe to use and button lights are now working within their regular use. (just brightness not working yet)
So even without bln-mod you can now control again the timeout by the settings-menu.
What he did was to remove BLN support to completely rework on it.
So if you used it so far be prepared to currently see errors in Synapse.

It's a daily driver - I gave my opinion to the same question Here
(*Root not neccesarily required* )
There are more sophisticated battery saving and handling options. I wouldn't return to CM12, more up to date security releases for starters!
Just type "Stable" into the thread Search Bar and there are many results with useful info. You could also try searching "Issues" (the latest primarily about the new "Jelly" browser)
OTA Nightlies are resolving bugs and improving the Rom weekly.

Question of my own: Does anybody know of a way to use a POSIX file system on the external sdcard when mounted as portable? It seems parts of the ROM including the entire storage API are hardcoded to expect a non-POSIX file system and thus choke on the permissions. adb works fine though, seems it comes with its own code. Found one bug report on Jira that was brushed off rather rudely with basically a "we don't care if it works or not".

Was wondering if anybody knows if there is a way around this without having to fix the code itself.

Last Rom is working great.
Is there any change that in near future we will get new funcionality - privacy controlling and blocking numbers for phone/text like in cm 13? I like that very much. It gives me full control with blocking unknown/private numbers and gites info about potencial fraud

That's already in, it's called call blocking in the phone app's options. I don't think you can blanket block all unknown numbers though, just individual numbers.

In cm 13 you have an extra option in privacy menu where you can customise all blocking actions - even block unknown numbers (that arent on your contact list) or private numbers that you cannot add to your contact list.
Same thing is with text messages.
Now i need to use 3rd part app to get same funcionality that gives cm 13 in this subject.
Apps are using ram and mobile data so having this integrated in system would be better (for me).

Whats with radios in lineageos and of course with cyanogenmod? The wifi connection is unstable, also the bluetooth connections. With my bt headset, the microphone has very low volume on S2, with smartwatch it isnt works at all, and if i move 2 metres away from the phone with the headset, then there are pauses in the sound, while with my old chineese smartphone every BT device works perfectly.
Also at talking on phone there are sound problems both on 2G and 3G

Hi all,

there are many users
trying to update from CM to lineage os without wiping the phone according to this method but we all fail with error 7 when we try to do the step 2.

Is there someone who can tell us what we r doing wrong or what we should do to upgrade from CM13 to lineage os?

Thank you for your time reading this.

Regards.

Error 7 isn't the actual error message, the error message is what's written before. most likely you forgot step -2. of what you linked.

Also I can't say whether the experimental builds still work, they are certainly not officially supported anymore.

Currently preparing to release LineageOOS 14.1 from 07.06
I'm waiting for a successful build and useful improvements, and there are a lot of them.

https://mirrorbits.lineageos.org/full/i9100/20170607/lineage-14.1-20170607-nightly-i9100-signed.zip

Flashes fine, brings it up to google's June security patch level (in reality probably doesn't comply again but I didn't verify this time).

@rINanDO not sure if BLN brightness setting is supposed to work already but it doesn't for me, at 0% it disables, any other value shows it with full brightness.

edit: also a bug: It's impossible to disable the backlight when using the buttons now, regardless of the slider setting they always light up. The timeout setting is also being ignored, they stay lit up until the screen turns off. That's very annoying. I don't need to see those buttons, I know they are there.

    **/

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Root is not included by default on LineageOS 14.1. You need to install an add-on via recovery. You only need to install this once. You can download the SU add-on here
After installation go to Settings>Developer Options>Root access and set to Apps only or Apps and ADB.

LineageOS comes with LineageOS Recovery by default, if you don't like it (like me ;)) you can flash alternative recoveries using IsoRec. You really need 1GB /system partition. The smallest build-configuration is larger than 512mb. You can use ODIN, but you can also use Lanchon's REPIT.

If you're interested in BLN, check this thread for a complete support of this feature.
If you're interested to go to emulated-storage, check this thread.

Hi there you all diehard S2 users,

As a few of you all users know, last couple months I'm working and testing PegasusQ-governor with a new PowerHAL. I'm planning to make this the default governor instead of on-demand to get same performance and better battery life. I resolved the issue PegasusQ with the 150Mhz fix of zeitferne so it is stable to use.

    What does the new PowerHAL?
    Currently the PowerHAL does this:
    • Powersave : conservative governor
    • Balanced: On-demand governor
    • Performance: performance governor

The new PowerHAL supports PegasusQ governor by tweaking its settings (like its big brother i9300 does):
    • Powersave : PegasusQ freq limited to 600Mhz
    • Balanced: PegasusQ freq standard profile
    • Performance: PegasusQ fixed freq 1200Mhz (still drops to 800Mhz when CPU is getting hot. This is by-design and not managed by governor)
Also we will have PegasusQ boosting:
    • Frequency will be boosted for 2 secs when an app launches
    • Frequency will be shortly boosted when interacting with the device for more responsiveness
    • Less aggressive profile when the display is turned off to save battery (using max 1 cpu max 600Mhz in PowerSave)

I'm planning to submit the following commits in next weekly, but I want to notify you all first about these changes:
    https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/168813/
    https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/168815/

What I like to know is if PegasusQ is really improving battery and/or performance when we set it to default governor.
It must be set to default governor (at boot) because of the permissions which needs to be set at boottime.
Otherwise the PowerHAL doesn't have permissions to tweak PegasusQ and we miss all the nice features.
When the experience with PegasusQ is poor, I will revert the commits so we switch back to on-demand.

    • For those who wants to test PegasusQ + new PowerHAL right now, download my unofficial build here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889764386195918750
    • For those who wants to test performance with Official build: Keep track of your battery life until next weekly and compare after you updated officially
    • For those who don't want take any risk with PegasusQ until tested: Don't update your phone at least 2 weeks

In my case I got about 10% more battery life and PowerSave now actually saves power. However Antutu Benchmark maxed out at about 18100 (instead of 19500 with ondemand).
I hope this will be the also the case on your devices.

@the.gangster: I think it can just put LineageOS recovery two times, and since it is an option it can be disabled by the user.
And maybe it can be extended to auto-flash it when the phone come from a not-IsoRec kernel but it is just my opinion.

    They have removed us: https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/161752/
I hope someone fix sepolicies before the next nightly build raid.
It is already fixed. The faulty commit is reverted and I requested to add our device again. https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/162099/
