hi guys..
have been using this rom for quite some time now, but never tried to figure out the real battery usage stats etc. Today though i noticed something interesting.
I charged my fone to full 100%, was recently rebooted, everything was off like Wifi, BT, GPS, even flight mode was enabled. Still, it went to 89% in 2 hours and Android OS usage is 94%. If i check the details of it, it shows "Keep Awake" as close to the same time since i disconnected the charger.
I think this must be leading to a good battery drain in normal usage too which i never tried to notice.
I am using semaphore 1.0.0sbm, no OC touchwake etc. SmartassV2 with Simple-I/O. Any other details i need to provide?

well, just for the duration of your research, install 'betterbattery stats' so that it shows you what is causing the wakelocks

I'm saying 'just for the duration' because that app, although useful in finding what is causing your problem, also uses quite a lot of battery

I believe there's a free version of that app here on XDA, although can't find it right now.

Somebody else was suggesting to use the app 'Spare Parts' from market to show (partial) wakelock applications - haven't tried it myself but I will try right now

Did you close the camera app ?
To do so, once rebooted, unlock phone using camera then close camera with home button.

No, it means: If you want to be able to record 720p use Semaphore 1.0.0(s) (if you want 720p
playback you need the appropriate patch if your ROM does not support it )

If you want more mem and do not want to record 720p you can you Semaphore 1.0.0(s)bm. Here it is the same for 720p playback: You need a patch ROM to support 720p playback using the s-version of the kernel.

Code:
Kernel | 1.0.0 | 1.0.0s | 1.0.0bm | 1.0.0sbm
-----------+--------+-----------+----------+--------------
mem | ~327 | 387 | ~340 | 399
720p play | yes | patched | yes | patched
720p rec | yes | patched | no | no

will try doing that! why does this happen..does the camera app automatically restart with a reboot??

found the xda version. Someone also suggested using badass battery monitor, will try both and come back with results. Thanks.

Great explanation! Stratosk, why don't you put a table like this one from elhennig in the first post? It could help answering one of the most frequent questions, for sure.

Assuming they bother to read the first post and this isn't the Semaphore thread :)

Nope, tw4 is not "too heavy" for i9000 with ics to handle.
Quote "too heavy" was a part of samaung's marketing techniques.... For non nexus phones for sure!

ofc it isn't on Samsung's interest to update a 2yr old model, it's money they're spending on programmers to make it work that they won't get back. They want people to buy new phones.

Even regular updates for 2 years is better than most others...

NOTICE: We apologize for the lack of updates recently, we just want to make it clear that development has under NO circumstances stopped. We are absolutely still working on this and still supporting it. Thank you for your patience.

    Team ICSSGS

    -- DemonWav -- Nushor -- Onecosmic -- PaulForde -- RaymondDull -- Trae32566 --

This ROM is based directly on the source code straight from Google themselves, the way Android is meant to be. This ROM is produced by a collaboration of many different people, with the main development being done by Onecosmic himself. We strive to bring releases as often as possible and provide a stable AOSP ROM. As this is a work in progress, bugs are to be expected! Please check the known issue's before posting/reporting bugs.

Source code can be found here

If you can, please donate a small amount via paypal, we do this for fun and this is optional but it is greatly appreciated and it is a way for you to contribute. If you want us to support another Galaxy S type phone and you have an extra of it, we may consider supporting the phone if you donated it to us to work on. If you think you have a phone that we could support, PM me or any other Team ICSSGS members and we will discuss the possibility of us supporting it.

We do not support anything that is not produced by us!

Ok, work sucks, life not but takes time and so on...

Here i am after getting a couple of minutes to post :)

Lets start with a couple of things:

Battery issues: If you don't complete 2 full charge cycles (discharge to 0 and charge to 100% 2 times) please do not complain about battery life, all android versions needs this in order to calibrate battery comsumption, this is mandatory.

Brightness: I know is darker and have steps not working, i'll fix that, not sure if with an update or in the full release (again, lack of time)

Wifi tether: does not work yet, its a mater of time.

USB tether, worked for me all day today, no mayor issues. anyhow i'll try to check with other users to see what happens.

Voodoo color kernel: it was compiled due to request from several users, i dont like it and i dont have time to check why the gamma tables get screwed, you can adjust them using voodoo control apk. :)

T9 on dialer: wip, again, not sure if update or next release.

Dictionary, there is a update that someone put on the thread, please take a look, it works without issues.

TV Out: i'll get a cable today to test, i dont have one until now so i was not able to test it :)

Media Scanning: i'll check on that (slowness, memory consumption and duplicate names).

Besides of the things above, i have a i9000b phone (almost the same as i9000, minor differences) its complicate to diagnose problems in vibrant or captivate without having the device, so far i know that gps does not work on cappy i'll try to o my best, but again, without having the devices is difficult to test everything.

    Cheers!
