fIX THE SU ISSUE [permanently]

1-download es file explore
2-enable up to root from setting
3-goto system/aps
4-click superuser.apk it will re-install
5-download the super su (another program)
6-open super su
7-it will ask for root and volla
8-use es file esplorer and erase supersuer.apk and .odex

hope that help,
When you upgrade from BETA4 then there is an easier fix:

1) download & install the 'super su' (another program)
2) open super su, it will ask for root
3) install BETA5
4) uninstall super su

first of all thanks feed3..brilliant rom..very stable and good enough for everyday use, though there are 2 problems-
1.USB tethering doesnt seem to work(crashes) though the 1st post says so.
2.I had pretty frequent lockscreen response issues, though i got the impression it got better after shifting to smartass..dunno what it has got to do with it

Hello Zeuba,

First : THANKS for your work !!!!

I just switched from CM7 to your CM9beta4 and all works fine (except the known issues) .

I tried then to install beta5 . Flash is ok and don't report any error BUT the phone is stuck on the green HTC logo (on a white screen) and the phone don't start Android :-/ .

What can I do ?

OK, so when you flashed beta 5, did you only flash over the top of beta 4? And not format boot, system, data, cache and sd-ext? Cause if you don't format boot, system, data, cache and sd-ext, your going to have no end of problems.

Hello Ranger .

I flashed from CM7 and before flashing CM9 I wiped all "wipeable" elements (cache, data, dalvik ...) .

Then I tried 3 times to flash the beta5 with rewipping all elements each times, I even donwloaded 2 times the .zip to be sure my download wasn't corrupted . But still no result :-/ .

I'm on beta4 by now (and all is working fine, even the photo camera and without camera illusion) .

So I will wait for the beta6 or CM10 :D

Voice Search fix

Hi all,

I have applied the voice fix and it worked great. However, when I need to restart the device I am back with the defective version. How do I install the app so that it sticks. I told the market not to auto update that app.

Cheers,
Steve.

I notice you only really mention cache in your reply as in Cache, data, davlik... are you formatting the boot, system, data, cache and sd-ext?
This information is very important if you want help.

This is not aimed directly at you,but I've seen quite a few having problems trying to flash beta5, and as with all versions zeubea has put out its been the same issues, "I can't flash alpha X or beta X or I get boot loop" etc the only way any one can help any one is to provide an explination as to exactly how you've tried to flash in the first place.

I bet 9 times out of 10 those with issues have corrupt download, just because you downloaded it 10 or more times doesn't mean its not corrupt (I've sometimes had corrupt downloads every time on my phone till I downloaded it via PC) that's why we have "md5" check sums, if you don't know what they are, you better find out, or whom ever having issues have not formatted the phone compleatly or correctly.

The 1 out of 10 could even be bad memory blocks as discovered by user neferth in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32075140.

Something for you to chew on ;)

Sorry didn't really mean to hi-jack Dev thread...

T-Mobile/Orange (EE)

What is the most stable radio ROM for T-Mobile UK (Orange / EE) I have used the recommended legend.radio-47.51.35.17_7.13.35.05-signed and the signal meter display will fluctuate between 2-5 bars when turning on the spot (same room etc.)

Cheers,
Steve

Your using a cellular mobile phone inside a room, as a amateur radio opererator myself, I know the frequencies your dealing with require clear line sight direct to the base station for guaranteed uninterrupted signal, so what your experiencing is I'd say is totaly normal.

Hello Ranger .

I checked the md5 of beta5 and it is correct, so my download is ok .

to flash I did (in this order) :

01 - I started the phone with "vol down" + "power", it brings me to the bootloader .
02 - In the bootloader menu I choosed "recovery", it bring me to the black screen with the red "!" . At this stage I do "vol up" + "power" to get the "Android system recovery <2e>"
03 - In this menu I choosed "wipe data/factory reset"
04 - then i applied "Wipe cache partition"
05 - thirdly, to go to CWM I do "apply sdcard:update.zip"
06 - Now in CWM I have done : "wipe data/factory reset"
07 - still in CWM I have done : "Wipe cache partition"
08 - still in CWM I gone to "advanced" and I choosed "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
09 - Then I pressed the back button to go back in the "CWM main menu" and I choosed "Install zip from sdcard" > "choose zip from sdcard" > "beta5"

10 - The phone applied the beta5 zip but I'm stuck on HTC green logo .

I applied exactly the same method for beta4 and it worked successfully . I NEVER used the menu "mount and storage" (for any rom before !) so I have never formatted "boot" or "system" .

(by writting theses lines I'm understanding that beta5 as a special ICS kernel, so if I don't format "boot" will the kernel be replaced) .
Should I try to format "boot" and "system" before flashing beta5 ??

Thanks again for your help and sorry for my english that could not be as good as i would .

We'll yes, that was whole point to my responses, format boot, system, data, cache, sd-ext. Some roms have script inside that prepair system space to accept rom, but I don't think zeubeas roms have ever had this feature. As I've already said if you don't, your heading for problems, just as I've already said......
Just do it, flash your rom, then flash gapps then reboot, easy! I flash ALL my cm based roms this way and NEVER EVER have these issues that so many seam to have.
