Hi all,
I've loaded this ROM successfully and am enjoying it quite a bit - I have two "test" KFs and I've noticed that in the "Settings" area, the serial number is missing in each device (without this, Google Play store seems only to see the last KF logged in). Is there any way to locate the serial number or if that is not possible to regenerate one?
Thanks in advance.
Sure you can. Open terminal and type:
Code:
su
idme ?

I'm still getting these sudden overnight charge crashes once in a while.. New battery, and deep sleep working well.
Can't explain it, but either way she charges right back again so no worries :)

I had the same problem, I suggest go back to stock; change ROM; or get your Kindle replaced.

Except I never had that issue until recently.

I had that issue a few months back, it was on account of a bad battery, fortunately there is a replacement battery on power 99 or just search it on YouTube. Fix it right up.

There's just a few apps that I can name that I have disabled on my 512mb devices because they get bloated more and more every update. Face it, if you had the software from the market 12 months ago installed now you'd see much fewer issues. The reality is 512mb devices are getting slower and slower because the available software gets more and more bloated.

This is not an issue that will get better as time goes by.

The Google Now on my Kindle has always been completely unusable, Swiftkey slows it to a crawl, both together basically make it a paperweight for a minute at a time. I've learned to keep it lean on my low memory phones along with my Kindle.

Recently picked up a 1st gen Nexus 7, quad core and a gig of ram... screaming fast and handles all the goodies I can't run on the 512mb devices.

I'm sure Google does play a major part in the softboots, seeing that most of the (if not every) time an error message shows up regarding my device's Google sign-in.

I use Google Now just fine on my Fire, look into your KF, mine is very use able for everything I do, even play arcade games.

Has anyone noticed that apps are FC’ing more recently? I have GTA3 that ran perfectly on a older version of this ROM and now I can't past the boot screen before it FC‘s. This is happening to all of my apps including system apps recently.

Getting random softboots multiple times a day, I believe right after I'm done using a heavy app.

I still think it has something to do with a system sign-in error. Further observation needed before confirming. I don't spend enough time with my tablet to try and run an actual debug-level diagnostic, unfortunately :(

    Miscellaneous:

    * Enable Developer and Performance options: Settings -> About tablet and tap Build number 7 times.
    * Do not turn up the brightness all the way, otherwise the screen will not turn off completely and the device will not go into deep sleep.
    * The distorted boot amimation is a known issue.

    Optional: Disguise your Kindle Fire as a Nexus 7 to (possibly) see more apps on the Play Store (Updated for 4.2.2):

    This flashable zip will modify and set the following build properties as follows:
    ro.product.model=Nexus 7
    ro.product.brand=google
    ro.product.manufacturer=Asus
    ro.build.description=nakasi-user 4.2.2 JDQ39 573038 release-keys
    ro.build.fingerprint=google/nakasi/grouper:4.2.2/JDQ39/573038:user/release-keys

    You might need to clear the Play Store data to see an effect: Settings -> Apps -> Click on Google Play Store -> Click on Clear Data.

    If you want to revert to the KF build props you need to flash the ROM again (no wipe required).
