Hey guys.

I've just installed CM 10.1 and I have one problem.

On the left hand side of the screen, there's this blue circle with the CM symbol. Basically it tells everything I am doing, i.e. if I just installed something it will show that. How do I remove it?

The blue circle is HALO. I believe the option to remove it is somewhere in the system settings. You might have to dig a bit.

Google Earth 7.1.1.1781 crash

I hope not too many people mind me posting this (again) -- I posted it in the JB 4.2.2_r1 thread, but it seems that not nearly as many people are over there as are here. :) I've found that recent versions of Google Earth (e.g., 7.1.1.1781) force close when I hit the "My Location" icon in the upper right (next to the menu icon) to zoom in to my current location. I downloaded and installed an earlier version of Google Earth (7.0.3.8527) which doesn't exhibit this bug. Anyone have any ideas on what might be happening or how to fix/work around it? The logcat shows this stacktrace for the crash:

I'm seeing this bug on this ROM, the official CM.1 ROM, and the AOSP ROM. I did a little Google searching on the exception string, which led me to this link:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...ream-sandwhich

But I'm not sure whether it's significant. Can anyone confirm or deny this crash, or suggest a way forward? Can it be fixed? Thanks!

Did you try contacting the app devs before posting here?

Tried to install this yesterday, TRWP was flashing it forever with no progress on the bar. Cancelled and restored.

No, I hasn't yet. Since the app devs are Google, and this is a custom, development ROM on an outdated device, my first hunch was that this might be an issue particular to this ROM (and related ones) rather than a bug in Google Earth itself.

But it sounds from your reaction like the first thing to is to blame the app rather than the ROM...? I don't hold out much hope that filing a bug report on this with Google would get much intention, but if that's all I can do, then I guess I'll do that...

Not to be adversarial, but if you see it on three different ROMs, it doesn't seem to be ROM specific, right?

I installed the latest version of Google Earth and got the same FC. You are probably correct that reporting it to Google will be futile. I would check the Google Earth forums (http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/earth) and see if others are experiencing the same problems.

Otherwise, reverting back to an older and stable version as you have already done is your best bet.

Thanks, this is helpful, and not adversarial at all. I just figured that maybe those who are more familiar with the codebase would be the best to judge if this was more likely a bug in the app or a bug in the ROM.

Lol any update-related app bug should always be considered to be an app problem before a ROM problem. Just saying. And with the reporting, it never hurts to send an email (with a logcat) and hope for a reply. Even if it's Google, I don't see why they wouldn't respond to bug-related feedback o_O

Is there an option to view the clock at all times in Tablet UI? Lets say I open up a game, usually only the navigation buttons stay while the rest of the info like battery status, clock, and wifi status disappear until I exit the game. In AOKP that info stays put in Tablet UI regardless of the app being used.

I prefer to stay with this rom since it's more stable and smoother than the AOKP build that is currently available, and plus, it has the volume slider in the status bar which comes in handy.

Welp. Looks like my KF is dead. I was trying to find out what was murdering my battery, installed a wakelock detector, went to check it, and my screen turned black.

Reboots did nothing. Reflashing the latest ROM did nothing. And now, it seems the entire ROM is just gone. TWRP tells me there's no OS. And it won't connect via USB to my PC so that I can try to flash the ROM.

Unless anyone has any ideas, I guess that's the end of this experiment for me.

Edit to add
If I go to Devices And Printers, and uninstall the drivers, then use Kindle Fire Utility to install the drivers, Windows tells me that I need to format it before I can do anything with it. Windows 7 64-bit is the OS I'm using.

If your TWRP's still working and your KF's still charging, you're still in the clear. Try mounting the USB storage through TWRP, upload the ROM to your KF, full wipe, etc.

    Miscellaneous:

    * Enable Developer and Performance options: Settings -> About tablet and tap Build number 7 times.
    * Do not turn up the brightness all the way, otherwise the screen will not turn off completely and the device will not go into deep sleep.
    * The distorted boot amimation is a known issue.

    Optional: Disguise your Kindle Fire as a Nexus 7 to (possibly) see more apps on the Play Store (Updated for 4.2.2):

    This flashable zip will modify and set the following build properties as follows:
    ro.product.model=Nexus 7
    ro.product.brand=google
    ro.product.manufacturer=Asus
    ro.build.description=nakasi-user 4.2.2 JDQ39 573038 release-keys
    ro.build.fingerprint=google/nakasi/grouper:4.2.2/JDQ39/573038:user/release-keys

    You might need to clear the Play Store data to see an effect: Settings -> Apps -> Click on Google Play Store -> Click on Clear Data.

    If you want to revert to the KF build props you need to flash the ROM again (no wipe required).

    Seems like the fix-mac.sh script is either not executed or fails for some reason. I pulled the build for now until it's fixed.
