Probably a stupid question, but I just found out that the search key turns the display off. After having looked around, I can't find a way to change this behaviour. Is there a way to change it and if so, how?

Oh, and after using this rom now for a couple of days, I'm still incredibly impressed. Awesome rom, thanks so much for it!

In /system/usr/keylayout/ there is a file named qwerty.kl and qwertytouch.kl (or something like that).

You need to edit it with root explorer, for example, and find the line that says:

key 217 POWER WAKE

And change it so it says:

key 217 SEARCH WAKE_DROPPED

I'm not sure you have to change that line in both those files, but I did, just in case, and now the search key works as it should.

Wow, thanks a lot for the fast and helpful answers! I just applied the patch and now the search key works the way I want it.

Important!

Before I give a new version, I recommend to delete file "99seeder" in the system/etc/init.d
You can do this a file manager with root privileges (eg root explorer).
Tweak unfortunately doesn't work favorably for the rom.
When you delete the file, mandatory make restart phone.

Major problem (solved)

Hi. First of all, thank you so much for this ROM. It's looking awesome so far.
I'm having a trouble, but IDK if it's because of me doing a mistake, or sth with the ROM: Settings will never save. When I run the first time, it ask me for logging in with my google account, setting language, and so (normal). But after reboot, it happen again.. and again!

1st- I did this (clean install):
Flashed clean SBF
Data Wipe Cache Wipe with stock recovery
Installed this zip with cwm
reboot
Wipe Cache with stock recovery
reboot

2- And after that not working:
Cleaned /system /cache /data in TWRP (now installed after this rom)
installed this ROM
Reboot
Cleaned /cache in stock (since TWRP gave me error mounting /cache and /data)
Data factory reset ins tock
reboot.

Any idea about what I may be doing wrong? (MB525 bayer)

If it's any help, I never wipe cache after installing ROM, just install the ROM (whether coming from clean SBF or not), and then reboot.

The first boot takes a bit longer than normal, and even though in a previous comment I mentioned that the new build takes about two or three minutes before the boot animation shows up, I actually flashed it again and then it was fine.

If you REALLY want/need to wipe Cache, I'd do it after the ROM has initially boot up.

Now, regarding your problem, the only time that ever happened to me was once (a long time ago) when I forgot to set system as read-only and did some wiping. After that the /data partition got borked, and had to start over from SBF. I don't know what you did wrong, but I would definitely start over from SBF again, and this time not wipe Cache right after installing the ROM; let it do it's initial boot up first.

Another thing, considering you were the one who posted the modded "media_profiles.xml" file, and you might be wanting to check out this ROM for it's video recording capabilities, I can tell you that it uses the exact same "media_profiles.xml" file as other Quarx ROMs, and video works for me without the audio cutting during or near the end of the video. I've even recorded a 20 minute video file and worked perfectly.

I didn't install ANY of the audio tweaks/options presented in the initial Aroma installer when you install the ROM, and I think it would be interesting if someone tried flashing any Quarx ROM that had the audio bug, except that they'd remove the DSP manager app before flashing. I think it might be related to that (considering this ROM is based on Quarx).

Well I installed it again doing two different things:
1st: Before installing, on 2ndbootmenu I formatted data and cache to EXT3. Before the sbf flash I was on EXT4. I don't know if this has something to do with the trouble, because I think the sbf also flash those partitions. But I did it. Before the SBF I was on CM10, and the data partition got broke. So I couldn't boot anymore without wiping it (actually, without restoring and old backed up /data).
2nd: I didn't install any audio tweak as you suggested (I was always installing awesomebeats)

Though, I did the simple dalvik/cache wipe that TWRP offers you after installing the zip, because it's suggested here (From first post: "Repeat wipe cache and wipe dalvik (Important!)")

It's working great now.

About the camera tweaks I posted for CM10, I'll play a little bit with this ROM after I re set everything, and then will tell if I can get anything better or how good this is to record :D

Awesome to see it working now. :good:

EDIT: I'm loving how many settings it has!! :D

And about the DSP manager, one of the first things I did everytime I flashed Quarx CM10 is removing that (AFTER installing the rom), but after rebooting the audio bug for video recording was still there.

Well I need to say I'm LOVING this ROM. The incredible amount of features it has amaze me, plus all of them are woeking great so far. About the videorecording, I didn't test too much yet, but I see no BUG at all. It's recording pretty nice actually!!

However I think I found a bug, but I couldn't realize when does it exactly happen yet. From time to time, when opening some app or doing specific things, the system get totally unresponsive for some seconds. It MAY be related to the wifi/conectivity. Or maybe not. lol.. But why do I say that? Because now, as instance, I was downloading 2 different large files (zipped) form the device with Airdroid (at around 1000kB/s total) and even if it was downloading great, the devices got unresponsive at all. After some seconds, Airdroid, that was in the background working, was willed in the background (not giving forceclose) and I had to restart the app. Seems like when it is downloading or uploading several things at a time, the system hangs. I don't know why. Don't seem to be a high cpu usage. But every time I left the app in the back working, same thing happen.

If I realize something new, I'll tell.

--------
EDIT: Disabling HWA for most of the apps, including media storage, except those who really get benefits from it, helped a little bit.

Interfering WIFI bug in this ROM too

I don't know if it is reported in SlimBean ROM as a known bug, It should, but coming from latest CM10 I need to say this ROM has the WiFi interfering bug also (when the phone wifi is on, other devices using wifi at least in the same LAN can't navigate well at all). This is due to the "new wifi driver".
I couldn't find any, but is there some workaround for this? :/ I need to turn wifi off everytime other device is near using wifi too.
