Well, seeing as I moved away from just patching official nightlies and into building and tweaking full ROMs I figured I'd release this here
There are no "performance enhancers" here, nothing complicated. I don't even think this qualifies as development.
What I'm doing here is building CM7.x from source, including a few patches that haven't been approved yet
eek and tweaking a few visual things.
Tablet Tweaks are enabled (CMSettings --> Tablet Tweaks)

Clock and date are centred
SystemUI allows transparency in the status bar, assuming the theme supports it
Blur behind power menu is removed
Notification LED flashing pattern is (should be) set up to have a longer on time That appears to not have worked...

Final notes:
My Legend is broken. The USB port is only good for charging, no data passes through. If something goes wrong on my device I have to guess what's causing it. Getting the fix onto my phone takes ages because I have to remove the battery to get to the SD card. Every time I remove the battery my phone forges the date and time. Everything about tweaking my phone is now a PITA. For various reasons I have little motivation to do this kind of thing at the best of times, let alone when it takes this long. Please don't pester me for updates.
[1]By that I mean that the "original creator" of that mod isn't known to me
