Flash rom/gapps reboot, then flash magisk 15.3 or 16 in recovery after setup.

GApps

Thats good news about the echo. BT battery drain is bad. Specially if using Daydream remote (bluetooth) don't care much about speaker mod, I use VR goggles with headphones and I don't use the phone to listen to music...but would be nice all of it would work. Try this link for GApps:

Any arm64 gapps will work.
I wouldn't bother getting anything larger than mini unless you actually need all those apps.

No, only the one you need. Id you need a Nougat version, download it, if oreo, download the oreo version. There is also 32bit and 64bit of these. You only need 1, nougat 32, nougat 64, oreo 32 or oreo 64, depending on what rom you install.

I didn't encounter a single FC from any app while on my latest build.
Did you make a clean install?

Nope.
AOSP roms have Ambient Display, feel free to try it out.
