It's not like this on every A/B device. My point is simply that it makes a lot of sense to flash to the opposite slot while you're booted in the system to get the seemless updates. However, once you're booted into recovery, it only adds steps when the ROM flashes to the opposite slot, when no other zip does that. While in recovery, it makes the most sense to flash to whatever slot is active at the time. The A/B devices I've had before this phone worked that way. The other zips I flash with this ROM all flash to the active slot as well, so it seems to me that the ROM zip is the only one that is flashing to the opposite slot.

Again, with all that being said, I'm merely making a feature request, certainly not a demand. If Kuran decides to accept this request, I will be extremely grateful, but I'm well aware that he owes me nothing, and should he chose not to implement this change, it's certainly not the end of the world. I'll continue using this ROM either way.
Didn't know that. Thanks. On my Pixel/XL, and I think the Pixel 2/,XL that's how it is. What devices don't?

(Sorry for off-topic, but I think it may be relevant)

I had an issue maybe you might have answered. I flashed this rom and finally got it booted, but the touch was gone. I did notice that this rom was on the twrp/partition that did not have touch. Could the two be related?

Awesome feature-packed kernel :good:

please take a look at drivers/staging/android/lowmemorykiller.c for SD 845 kernel,

there are additional fixes (e.g. for memory corruption) there which match with fixes for oom_kill/oom reaper

Is thermal throttling or thermal zone readout (showing temperatures of CPU) working for you ?

Having an app fc issue. Log attached. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app from play store with no luck. I'll report to the app development if you don't spot anything.. worked on stock.

Mfl platinum is the app.

TIA!

EDIT: I've also noticed.... When entering my pin to unlock, it says "incorrect pin" even though it is correct and unlocks.

Thank you!! I just gave your rom a try. to be honest I loved it, but there are a few things i found:

1) the long press function of nav bar buttons cannot be remapped with gravitybox. (i know that I can change it to smartbar and customize the action of each button, but i prefer to use the stock nav bar and customize with gravitybox). The weird thing is that I could do this in aosip but not in your rom. any idea? Aosip also has the options of stock nav bar, fling, and smartbar.
2) its really hard to customize the quick setting tiles.
3) the search option in the stock dialer does not look for nearby places.

thank you! any idea is appreciated.

Glad you like the rom! Lemme break this down so we are on the same page
1) I'll look into remapping but we also have fling and smartbar and iirc it works in fling. Correct me if I'm wrong but last time I tried it it worked
2) Hard? How hard?
3) I think that requires google dialer, can you check it?
Thanks!

Just set up this awesome Rom after running stock pie. Vendor security patch level says July 5. Do I need a separate vendor image?

Thanks man! It's all good, just follow the releases here

The only thing that I'm concerned about is it breaking some thing but for sure I'll look into it and if it'll all good I'll gladly change it :)

Don't be sorry for off-topic, the more alive the thread is the better, we are open for everything here ;)

So this issue would be because of the September patch then? Just downgrade back to August and try again?

Yep September is broken on custom roms. Use august

Thanks a lot man! I looked again at the 4.9 tag lowmemorykiller and you're right. I was missing some stuff for it after bringing oom_kill and reaper in line with 4.9. I'll release an update ASAP with the patches added. Awesome suggestion!

About temperatures of CPU, I'll take a look. I disabled some probes because 1) They were broken to start with and 2) even the ones working, polling so much crap for temperature constantly drains a lot of resources so I only left what was really necessary

I'll take a look and see if I can do something. From the play store reviews, most people have problems with the app

I'm having issues with some apps not opening on this ROM only. I love this rom but was wondering if you can look into why. I've tried every version of your ROM and they all do it. Example of an app that didn't work is (Distiller). I've tried everything and I can't get it to work.

Ops almost missed that. Any other apps that don't work?

    AICP
    Android Ice Cold Project

AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!

Until Lollipop, the Rom has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LAOS) we are now LAOS based with some tweaks from AOSP.

If there are any bugs, either we will sort them out or the LAOS team will if it concerns their code base. This rom isn't LAOS supported, so no need to report errors/bugs to them!!

    Code:
    #include <std_disclaimer.h>

    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Hard & a lot.

Official builds will be deleted from our servers every month due to maintenance services.
We advise everyone to keep at least the latest or best working build on their device as a backup.
Maybe copy it to a cloud service or USB too.

    You tell... :p

    FAQ:
    Before using the ROM:
    Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
    A. Yes, just look in the OP to see if your device is built on a nightly or weekly schedule.

    Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
    A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!

    Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
    A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.

    Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
    A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 27.

    Flashing the ROM:
    Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
    A. Check the install instructions in the first post...

    Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
    A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.

    Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
    A. Wipe ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.

    Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.

    Using the ROM:
    Q. How do I enable software buttons?
    A. Go to Aicp Extras/Navigation bar, and enable it.

    Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
    A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.

    Q. I keep losing root with Magisk, how do I fix it?
    A. Check this out. If that doesn't work for you, ask for help in this thread, read or ask in the Magisk thread on XDA or just re-flash Magisk!

    Q. I'm having issues with WhatsApp, how do I fix it?
    A. Read this

    Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
    A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.

    Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section in the AICP Extras main page.

    instructions.png

The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android Oreo. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.

It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
    How to flash:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)

    Boot TWRP
    FORMAT data partition
Sideload the rom in TWRP, the gapps are included in the rom zip

The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every OTA update (= ROM Update)

    Currently Supported Root Solutions:

    Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the device, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine

    KERNEL:
The kernel that the rom uses is made by me, starting from a fresh ALS base with various additions and improvements.

Did I say new build coming soon? Well, great news. After a lot of work on the P builds squashing every single bug out and improving both performance and battery, I think I finally have something XDA worthy. This thread will be closed and a new one will be opened with all the great stuff. Stay tuned!

Alright guys, sorry for being away. A lot of parties and I was more drunk than sober the past few days. Although, this didn't stop me from making a huge update:
Completely remade the kernel from scratch, dropped OEM source and now using ALS for a base
    Kernel running in enforcing
    Fixed encryption for everyone
    Plus a lot other things
    Rom: https://transfer.sh/zU5DF/aicp_mata_o-13.1-UNOFFICIAL-20180607.zip
    Kernel: https://transfer.sh/kgEZF/boot.img
ATTENTION!!!!! Everyone needs to FORMAT the data partition for the new update. Completely changed the encryption type. Sorry for the inconvenience but it was one of the only ways to fix the stupid fc'es.
If everything behaves good, tomorrow or overmorrow the rom is OFFICIAL! :)
