I don't really care much for a kernel for stock ouya rom, I don't plan on staying on stock for ever, as soon as the kit kat ROM appears I will be flashing it a.s.a.p. but I will love to take this kernel and take it for a spin and I don't want to beat up thugs playing lame soul fjord, sorry.

so hello everyone,

as i promised here are the repacks for stock rom
repacked with ramdisk for version 1.2.771
yay thank you nchantmnt!!!

this time I will be slightly less dumb and do fastboot boot first, rather than fastboot flash (also to be safe in case my box can't handle the 2ghz upper limit!)

.........

hm, still no luck. black screen only. may have to wait for the 1.8ghz version.

but thanks anyway nchantmnt!

Did it boot with earlier version or at least the one kholk provided?/QUOTE]

no luck -, in the past I tried non-repacked v0.1 and also non-repacked v0.1c, tried them with both fastboot boot and fastboot flash.

this is all on stock rom.

(it could also very well be pilot error - I have done all OTA updates, but for some reason the kernel image I dumped from LNX is 8mb, while all the OTA updates' boot.img, even the latest one, are all ~5mb. I could likely somehow using outdated ramdisk and kernel?)

at this point I will probably wait until kholk releases the 1.8ghz version and I'll try it repacked or even non-repacked.

I might consider installing stockplus, but probably not. as some others have mentioned, I'm more interested in running pure-android. I only wanted to try the TPL boot menu and the EPJ kernel out of curiosity. I'm happy to wait until EP KitKat starts to become available and the project becomes more mature.

I may also try fastboot boot boot.img from RC-OUYA-1.2.771-r1_ota.zip simply to see if it is me who's done something wrong...

but thanks again for all your advice and assistance nchantmnt, viel'n dank...!

This is really strange. And kholks boot menu is working?

It doesn't work for me, i just flashed it and it stays at a black screen, EP bootloader works for me cause i can flash the stock kernel easy without a problem and i see the text at start...:(

TPL boot menu works - although if I have usb devices connected, the power button navigation is broken.

something is definitely weird, though - as mentioned, the kernel I dumped from LNX is 8mb (so probably contains modules built in) but all other recent retail and custom kernels seem to be 5mb. (I am guessing because lib/modules and/or ramdisk are assumed to already be present)

I can fastboot boot both the 8mb lnxbackup.img as well as the 5mb RC-OUYA-1.2.771-r1_ota.zip boot.img. (but booting the boot.img isn't perfect since some files are likely missing (my /system/lib/modules is empty. plus there is a bunch of other stuff in RC-OUYA-1.2.771-r1_ota.zip, which I don't seem to have. so, I probably don't have the latest OTA, even though I thought I did.)

also, if I fastboot flash boot the 8mb lnxbackup.img, TPL boot menu auto loads it, and everything works normally as it has been for last couple months.

somewhere along the way I screwed something up ha ha.

it is really strange, I agree.. I might as well flash stockplus simply to try to clean things up. (or is it possible to do the OTA zip from adb sideload or from CWM?)

thanks

you can do a OTA zip from adb sideload, i did it at the beginning of the month it cleaned my OUYA like the first day i turned it on...

cool, thanks man!

the only thing that worried me most was that the contents of the OTA seem like it might replace the recovery - that scared me since CWM has been just about the only thing that has saved me SOOOOOO many times over the past couple weeks ;)

other than that I don't mind re-doing everything else (nova launcher, xposed / google store, etc. etc...)

rechecked just to be sure. local copy as well as downloaded one did boot for me.
anyone else having issues?
Its boots with your repacked Kernel image thanks. Appears to work ok, although I have had a few random reboots with it despite throttling the Max Freq to that of Stock (1.7Ghz).

Disappointed though that Antutu benchmark comes in at around 1000 marks lower than stock though for the same clock speed.

Thanks anyway, at least it runs!!

Guys dont use it with stock Rom even if yous repack it. i have spent nearly 2 days trying to figure it out. it even made my ouya sdcard storage READ ONLY and i had to start from the beginning deleting all my files. So i started again flashing the Stockplus Rom and now everything is ok. sometimes it flickers but everything else is smooth now. So my advice FLash CWM recovery then from the recovery flash StockPlus Rom then the Bootloader and Last the kernel (do not repack it).

sorry i have to disagree.
the reason for the repacks is to avoid the issues you just described. if you still are having issues with /scard then you are trying to boot the wrong kernel
if you are using stockplus rom go to eternityproject forum and download the kernel there.
if you are using latest stock rom use my repacks. (they will be on eternityproject forum soon)

if you have any further issues or something you think that is valuable for us to know, head over to eternityproject.eu and report there.

thanks ;)

.. yes .. kholk said this kernel is built for stockplus .. and yes .. it may work or not in stock rom .. like my self .. to lazy to change rom .. use repack is reasonable :D

.. Actually today got some improvement.. My ouya managed to boot repack kernel successful from cold condition / 1st boot.. And play soul fjord :D .. But still get random reboot.. maybe some underclock cpu setting will give more stable condition .. cheers

When i was on the stock rom i repacked the kernel from my firmware and still i was having those issues. thats why i flashed the StockPlus Rom and flashed the kernel from eternityproject. Even the first kernel that you repacked and youve send it to me i was having problems. I am just suggesting whats the best solution from my experience
