So if I was on mk2 when I got my phone I'm limited to safestrap, yes?
Basically I can do custom roms, but not custom kernels, right?

From my understanding, yes this is correct, you should be able to run This Rom in here just fine on the SS safe version just not KK at the moment

Exact same problem here thepktrckt. I emailed Textra yesterday 2/5/14. Below was the developer response:

Thanks for the feedback.

This only impacts certain users on certain devices.

Some users report the following apps contribute to the issue (try uninstalling):

1) Glovebox app
2) Pie Controls app
3) Keyboard Minuum.
4) MWmanager
5) Other multi-window app

One other culprit is a Custom ROM.

If anyone finds a resolution, please post it here.

Thanks for the reply and investigation. I'm running Textra on my Note 2 that is almost identical in ROM setup without issue. It has multiwindow enabled and pretty much the same apps, 4.3, etc. I'll tinker some more.

Upgraded but forgot to wipe

I upgraded from ShoStock 2.3 (which is Android 4.2.2) the the newer 3.1 (4.3) but I forgot to wipe the device. Can anybody tell me a definite problem that I may experience (other than "instructions say to do so" which is more than obvious to me) if I keep running with this upgraded set up? It's kinda nice not having to mess with Titanium, etc. just to get 70% of my config back. Thanks!

Usually you'll get force closes.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'll be on the lookout for FC's but for now smooth sailing (until I write this and jinx myself, of course ) and rectify as the instructions say... Thank you for the phenomenal ROM's. On my SGS2 and SGS4 they're the only ones I ever run and haven't even had a need or desire to look for alternatives. All the best!

I depend on my phone for work and I travel quite a bit so my phone is my lifeline to home and my entertainment when going to many countries I cannot bring my laptop so this phone is a must. This phone becomes a much better tool when rooted and with a custom ROM such as yours! So again thank you! Until I was able to put a custom ROM on this phone I actually enjoyed the s2 better than this phone. Too bad Samsung had to be low class for what is supposed to be an open-source operating system.

Rooted it 2 hours later. Was not happy with the small amount of memory available, went back to ATT and got the 32Gb version. I think it was on MDL. Rooted that one 2 and have been running custom ROMs since then. SHOstock was always a mainstay for me (been with him since my captivate days, and my S2 days), I have recently upgraded to MK2 and have seen no problems with running SHOstock 3.1. what am I missing? When the MF3 official firmware was released OTA by ATT, it had locked down recovery, which made it so that custom roms couldn't be flashed on a whim. If you bought it when it was first released, you had the MDL (iirc) bootloader, which had a more relaxed recovery.

If you never did/do the OTA official update, you never have to worry about safestrap. You can safely flash MF3 or later roms because bootloaders aren't included in most, if not all, roms.

If you don't have to worry about safestrap, there's also some KitKat goodness in Sho's other thread, too

Wrong thread, if you're using Sho's KitKat beta rom. Also, 5b3 has the stock kernel included.

Well the problem finally came... going from SHOstock 2.3 to 3.1 and not clearing data ended up with one annoying problem. The device would reboot about 10 seconds after turning off wifi from the pull down notification bar. I even renamed /etc/wifi/wpa.supplicant then I renamed /etc/wifi folder and re-applied 3.0 and 3.1 to get it back... still the darn thing rebooted when shutting off wifi. I bit the bullet and spent an hour re-setting up my toy.

Even though it's moot now, if anybody knows how rectify that issue I'd love to hear the solution.

Sho if ATT does put out an ota will you be making a ATT branded version as well? Just curious as I have kept my wife's phone on your ATT branded Roms.
