My TS is not starting the upgrade, "Download DA" hangs for minutes. After starting I have to pull the battery to get the PC to recognize the unit again.
No response on power, but the device manager sees "MediaTek" (after pulling battery at least, when tring to download it changes to Unknown device) so the preloader does seem to work.
Any hints?

I used the first package, with my own backed up lk.bin, boot.bin. The device did not boot, hanged on the logo for minutes. Pulled battery, TWRP could do factory reset but not boot: "no OS installed".
Tried restoring previous (RetroSmartRom) using "Download only" (as MtkDroidTools backups do not include userdata and cache), os was installed but "encryption failed".
Tried again with an older backup (Ensec), first Dowload failed (dont remember why) so I used "Format All+Download" with out cache (primarily to get something booting, restoring old ROM and try again). The update failed.

I have had similar problem before, but then the TS did not show up in device manager reliably, which works fine right now.Download" with cache from KK, userdata.tar (primarily to get something booting).

I managed to flash the image, the phone seems to boot (getting Omate logo for 1min or so) but I'm some point I'm getting an scree "Encryption Unsuccessful" which I can't navigate out from.
Anyone knows what it is and how I can solve this?
Thanks

Do a factory reset from recovery and that should/might fix the problem (well it did with the original Unova ROM for me)

In the recovery mode, try wipe. If you get "can't mount internal sd" then tap advance, select internal sd, change file system to ext4 and then try to wipe again.

Anyway, if i want to flash baseband, i just need to download (from my previous firmware monxdified) "userdata_nvram_only.tar" generated mtk droid tools backup or the "TrueSmart_863752020083178_nvram_150111-145237.tar" generated from IMEI/NVRAM backup ?
Yes, i have tried restore with IMEI/NVRAM but this 4.4 doesn't have ptty1 .

Thanks

Fully power off ie no quick boot. Pull battery or wait until it runs down and charge it.

Press and hold both buttons to power on. It says something like power button = recovery and home button = factory at the bottom of the screen.

So let go of the home button and keep holding the power button. Recovery will be started.

same here. the restore NVRAm/IMEI does not work via MTK Tools on mine too. I have informed Dan of it as well via G+

1) Managed to get it working after wiping and factory reset in recovery mode (missed it in the step by step), thx
2) I cannot also restore my IMEI with MTK tools (I did a NVRAM backup prior to flash)
3) My TS is a 1900MHz APAC edition and it cannot connect to phone network. But I'm guessing it is related to the missinf IMEI, is that correct?
4) As for root, how can I get it installed?

Hi All,

I have also managed to get mine running, it looks as though the AV on this PC was tools nixing mtkdroidtools exe.. sorted on another laptop all good, except that i have no baseband / IMEI, i have tried changing this, but it seems i need root?

how do i restore / flash my nvram backup from prior? (this will have the baseband etc in it will it?)

Cheers,
