For the moment I can't power on the watch anymore (I'll try by removing the battery).
Just continue flashing. I tried flashing somewhere over 50 times before the device was upgraded (I am sure some have done even more attempts).
Other say the device is hard to brick. Mine was kind of bricked, but the 5th PC I tried on revived it to the extent that "normal" failures occurred again.

Thanks gerhardo. I managed to flash it. I updated my previous message: the problem lies with the USB driver which is somewhat flaky.

Titanium Backup:
When restoring apps+data with TiBa, the restore just hangs. Just data is possible, but at next startup the I get “Uids on the System are Inconsistent” popup, with “/data/system/uiderrors.txt” pointing to the apps where data is restored. (Note: wiping cache + fix permissions in twrp as possible solution here: http://thedroidguy.com/2014/03/fix-uids-system-inconsistent-galaxy-s3-88039 got the TS starting up without display).
I have reinstalled apps several times already, also experienced the GNL first startup issue for instance. It is not really reinstalling that is the issue, it is configuring apps.
Edit: Unticking "Mount Namespace Separation" in SuperSU seem to fix the issue.

SIM and lockscreen:
With a SIM, I have to set the security to None. With Slide, I cannot close lockscreen. Have to remove SIM to pass the screen.
(No other security tested.)

Upgrade went well!

I have an Omate TrueSmart, North America version, with 1GB RAM and 8GB. Received it in very early 2014.

I followed the instructions exactly. Took me a bit of time to track down MTK Droid Tools since an executable wasn't in the linked "MTK All Tools Suite" package (maybe my Microsoft Security Essentials quarantined it?). Only real hiccup during the installation was that SP Flash Tool gave me a "Checksum failed" error shortly after connecting to the device. It did three readback passes, and at the end of the third it returned that message. It kept occurring no matter what I tried, so instead I did "Format all + Download" instead of "Firmware upgrade" and everything went great after that.

Lokifish's YouTube video was helpful too, and very succinct (thank you!).

I too see the NVRAM entry in the wifi screen, but it doesn't bother me at all. Had to manually put back my IMEI, but again, not a big deal.

Big thanks to everyone who helped contribute to making this happen. I really do like the watch except for a few admittedly minor quirks (biggest perhaps being lack of iOS notifications, but that's on Omate, not the guys here). :) Thank you!

Is bluetooth working as expected for everyone who is running the new rom? When I try to push files from my phone, I see a quick flash in my watch's notification bar, and then nothing happens. On the phone side, I see that 1 file failed and 0 were successful. With 4.2 I used to get a pop-up asking if I wanted to transfer the file. I suspect the flash I see on the notification bar is the file transfer auto dismissing, but I have no idea how I would fix this.

No issues here pushing files to the watch over Bluetooth. Thanks to all who made this update happen. The TS has always been useful for me as a fitness device but now that the external speaker actually works with the phone well enough to hold a short conversation, I have zero complaints. Internet tethering over Bluetooth has been rock solid as well and probably is a better data connection battery-wise vs a 3g connection. My first charge on the ROM went 1 day 19hrs with 2g mobile, Bluetooth, and location on (battery saving). That's good enough for me!

I'd have to second your thoughts here. The battery life difference is nothing short of amazing. I used my TS all day yesterday after updating it to KK. I was reinstalling apps, configuring, restoring with TB. I was using wifi most of the time but did use 3G for an hour while out on lunch. I got to my office at 10am and left at 6:30 with 40% battery left! Before this KK update I was barely getting through half a day with the same usage. I had resorted to modding my charging cradle to wear on my wrist with the watch. I had the usb charging cable going up my sleeve and into a small 2200ma backup battery that I wore under my dress shirt. Didnt look too sleek on the wrist but it worked. I have 4 other smartwatches, some of them are of the chinese variant and this setup works alot better when you have a usb charging port built into the watch like most of the chinese ones do. Thanks Kuronosan, Lokifish, and everyone involved. BTW I have the US 1900 1/8gb version and my 3g works just fine. I just restored a backup of my nvram after I ran the update. I used the older version 3 of SPFlash tool. (The newer version gave me the brom error)

I've also flashed successfully on my 2100/1/8 Truesmart. Like many others I had to use the older flashtool version as well because of the BROM error. I don't use a SIM card in my watch so I haven't checked the IMEI yet, but I have a backup if I need it.

I mostly use as a fitness device as well, and now that BTLE works with android 4.4 it has gotten so much more valuable. I can finally use my heart rate monitor! It actually seems to work even better then on my Xperia Z1... The only nuisance I've got is the malfunctioning SwipeStatusBar, I hope there will be an update on that soon. I'm keeping an eye on Gerhardo's work on Github :)

SwipeStatusBar (Play or my mod) is working, but Umeox KitKat launcher is quicker killing it, why it does not pull down very often.

GravityBox fullscreen works well though.

I'm actually using SmartLauncher, in its settings I've set the status bar visibility to always visible. Is the Umeox launcher still hiding the bar in the background then?

I have no experience with Xposed yet so the GravityBox solutions sounds a bit complicated to me. However I have been planning on learning about Xposed anyway :p

It seems like the default is off, then the stock launcher enables it. At every detected app change (which includes SwipeStausBar), the Umeox ROM kicks in and hides the bar.
This is a crappy solution, should at least have been a setting for always on.

Anyone get statusbar to stick?

Can you tell me what settings you have in Gravitybox to make your status bar static? I dont see a fullscreen settings option. I do see "expanded desktop" settings, but no matter what I choose that statusbar doesnt stay. I even installed smart lanucher pro and set the status bar to "always on" in settings along with using "swipe status bar", but no combination of these makes the satusbar stick. Has anyone that updated to KitKat found a way??

No, it does not stick, it works like SwipeStatusBar in 4.2
There is no setting for how long the statusbar stays, this is built in the ROM. We do not have sources to check the functionality, maybe it is standard AOSP handling. I have tried to get it sticky too, but what I have tried have not worked.

Forget the SmartLauncher setting, the Umeox modifications overrides that. GravityBox works by hooking in to system methods, so it can override.

Ok I see. I don't really need the statusbar to stick I would be happy with just swiping down to see my statusbar and notifications. As you know right now it only works on the Umeox launcher screen. I would like to be able to swipe down while I'm in any app instead of having to go back to the launcher everytime. Can you tell me what combiniation of settings in GravityBox and/or SwipStatusBar you used to get it working?

Thanks!

SwipeStatusBar: Uninstall (or deactivate)

SuperSU to root
Xposed Installer
GravityBox for KK:
- Display Tweaks, Expanded Desktop Mode: Immersive
- Power Tweaks, tick Expanded Desktop option, activate (Expanded desktop can be activated in quick settings etc too)
- StatusBar, QuickSettings to enable swipe right to get to settings

GB has lots of more or less useful settings....

One swipe to show, another to pull down the statusbar

I was already rooted with Xposed & Gravity so I went right to the Display tweaks. Worked like a charm! I can now access my statusbar/notifications in any app. I appreciate for your concise instructions I'm in business now. Clicking thanks!!

Thanks Gerhard for figuring this all out. I haven't been around much as I've been weak due to the flu and resulting lack of appetite.

Just remember folks: Don't enable ART with xposed. It won't work.
