I'm not holding my breath, but who knows. Usually, anything that has to be seriously hacked/modified to work will likely cause problems and not be 100% stable for long-term use, but there are the rare exceptions. I might try it out of curiosity, but only after I verify I can revert back to 100% Lollipop. If I can't, I don't want to risk bricking my phone because I went through FOUR exchanges to get a perfect V10 (no light bleed, good colors, good speaker).

My current official strategy for my ROM is to wait until there is a 100% reliable method of flashing TWRP on the stock Marshmallow bootloader so that people don't have to install another ROM (the one hacked for LP bootloader) before they install mine and then run into potential problems or have to wipe their phones and start over when we do get a working MM TWRP installation method. I want to keep things as simple as possible.
This is the smartest thing that I think everyone should do! No chance I'd flash that other thing either (i have my reasons!). I've also been patiently waiting for a way to root marshmallow or to hear that someone brave tried to flash the ota with flashfire and used the keep root/twrp option.

Have you tried Flashfire at all? It backs up ALL the partitions on the device, including boitloaders. I have done restores from/to 5.1.1 without issues and the latest version can create backups one can flash through fastboot (I have not played with this). I wonder if it could bring one back to 5.1.1 from a 6.x attempt...
I saw it on AndroidPolice the other day, I'll take a look.

Thanks for the support. :) I think that there are people much smarter than me who originally designed the entire phone and its software, and messing with low-level stuff such as bootloaders without deep knowledge of it can only lead to trouble. I'm staying out of the whole "boot Marshmallow on Lollipop bootloader" debacle. There is no 100% reliable way to flash back to Lollipop at this point, especially since the Antirollback counter increases when you flash the MM KDZ, and there is no LP KDZ, so... let's sit tight. Codefire is working on figuring out an alternate TWRP installation method. We might have to do something silly like use send_command.exe again, who knows. I'm not skilled enough to figure out what LG castrated inside their fastboot implementation.

Downloaded a few things and had some random reboots. If anyone can check the log it would be an appreciated assist.
WakeLockManager crashed the main system process (the entire ART virtual machine).

You're the second person in this thread with this issue, I'm adding a warning to OP that WakeLockManager is incompatible with this ROM.

agreed. The other thread is full of issues from various users and for me I see no rush to flash anything. It's clearly not proven to be stable, nor safe. As you mentioned the codefire lads will likely have something whenever they feel it's ready for prime time. So I'm gonna sit comfortably on 5.1.1 and work on theming more 3rd party apps for my theme. I'll revisit system apps when we finally do get 6.0 the right way.

I'm happy that there are others on XDA who value stability over gimmicks and having the latest-and-greatest (even though it's broken).

To everyone: The Marhsmallow version of this ROM will happen once we have an official way of flashing TWRP on the Marshmallow bootloader. I want the upgrade process to be "Flash the MM KDZ, install TWRP, flash my ROM." Until we can achieve that, we shall sit tight!

Hmm, I've not downloaded it.....

Edit:

That WakeLockManager.... OK. From PowerNap? Methinks I should disable that module then, no?

Notable mention:

This started in the last two days. I've had PowerNap installed since forever.

Then uninstall whatever you installed in the last two days - one of those things is conflicting with PowerNap/WakeLockManager.

I am in no rush. I'm happy as can be on you're 5.1.1 ROM. I've learned to not get so excited about the upgrade to new Android versions over the years. With the exception of 1 or 2 in the last 12, they never really include any earth shattering changes and even the significant ones are very rarely (if ever) something to get too excited about. The mere thought of possible mods or customization add-ons available to rooted users excite and stimulate more than any implemented firmware upgrade ever has for me, so I am in no rush to MM when there's other fun stuff that will, even more so, improve my experience. For those making and have made the immediate leap to MM only to find they have to wait for some mods dev to workout MM bugs or not yet MM compatible, have an inhibited or degraded experience and, from what I can tell, with little compensation from the stock improvements. I'm usually all in for upgrades and new releases with both hardware and software, but with firmware I only care to keep up with standards.

I am a noob, still, however so maybe I am ignorant of one or more improvements with MM that will significantly enhance our experience with the phones hardware or siraltus ROM. If so, I would appreciate the lesson :).

Hi guys, finally I got the update downloaded... But I don,t want to update to Mm...
Where is the update file located?? I use Es File Manager and I couldn't find it anywhere...

I know there are instructions on the op to disable Ota, but I want to know where that file is located...

File name is update.zip in cache/ directory.
Be sure to disable OTA too, or you'll just find it downloaded again. ;)

What is OTA. A sevice, file? I couldn't find it yet

Over-The-Air update. Your phone downloads Android operating system updates automatically in the background, but the update will fail when you're not 100% stock. This is why we disable the OTA system services so that the phone doesn't keep downloading the update and notifying you to install it. Instructions for disabling the OTA system services (there are three) are in the OP.

Dose anyone know how to fix the overheating issue on this device? I get temps up to 150°F when playing games on this ROM I don't think that is normal for the LG v10 to be overheating that much. Anyone else have this problem.

There is something going on with the thermal driver. I don't think it is working at all.

I'm very, very happy with your rom and like I said before, haven't needed any flashes or major changes other than app updates since the first install. I've never had a custom rom work this good. Like many others have said, it unlocks the potential of the LG hardware. The only drawbacks to this phone right now are the common LG hardware issues we all know about. With your rom though, it's still the best phone option for me. Regarding M, I'm skeptical with no LP kdz, the prospect of an M kdz and twrp install method both happening might be kinda slim?
