Hello to _mone and everyone.

The ROM looks fantastic! I finally found something that worked for this model. But, here are some questions and our ideas:

-It is not possible to record videos with the camera, just take pictures, even with the "opencamera" or another application.

-Can I install the latest Magisk (make root changes) without worrying about bootloops?

-If other builds are released, can I update with TWRP without losing anything?

Well, those are my only doubts so far, but other than that, the ROM is working perfectly, I don't even have to worry about the FRP (at least so far) :)

thankful,

Miguel.

Yeah, camera doesn't really work.. and I'm not sure if it'll ever will.

-Can I install the latest Magisk without worrying about bootloops ??
Yes, I'm using it myself. No bootloops.

-If other builds are released, can I flash with TWRP without losing anything?
Yes, just "dirty" flash the new build and you won't lose your data.

Can Ubuntu touch be ported to this tablet using this LOS build?
Not that easy.. for ubuntu touch you need to patch the kernel and create an halium-boot.img.. iirc you also need a system.img based on cm-14.1 and patched with ubuntu touch stuff.. as we have many patched repos to make the ROM work I'm not sure it'll be an easy task to port it for this device.

New build: lineage-14.1-20210209-UNOFFICIAL-gtexswifi.zip

You can now format the external sdcard as internal storage
There seems to be a renewed interest in this ROM now. After receiving no response to my comment before, I went ahead and flashed the ROM. I was very disappointed with the performance in several ways.

First and foremost, I found that it lagged quite a bit, especially when changing from page to page. There was a perceptible lack of speed while moving from one page to another.

But the most significant lack was in the performance of the WIFI. Although my tablet was able to connect to the WIFI network, I have several apps that I use to share information with my other equipment, through Gmail or other methods, and those apps refused to even acknowledge there was wifi available. That was the killer for me, so I returned to the stock OS.

About the only improvement I found over the stock ROM was the ability to customize the button actions--although that would in itself be a worthwhile reason to upgrade. Were there any other modifications over the stock ROM that I might have missed during my brief experience?

Would look forward to hearing if that problem with the WIFI has been solved, and if I missed other customizations.

Thanks in advance!

edit: Oh, and one other thing I discovered was the inability of the ROM to write to the external SD card, most particularaly with Titanium Backup, but I found this is true of any KitKat or above ROM with this equipment. I did download an app from Play Store called SDCardFix (or something like that) and it solved that problem on the stock ROM. Could I expect this app to be successful with the Lineage ROM as well? The little bit of memory on this equipment fills up very fast, especially if you have a few apps installed.

Well, the wi-fi connection is really strange in this ROM, but what concerns me the most is the following:

After rooting on Magisk, my tablet automatically restarts at some random time of the day, but only when it is being used.

Will the bug of recording videos with the camera be resolved? Videos cannot be recorded.

Note: My battery seems to be discharging a little faster, I do not know if it is by itself, the general consumption that the ROM needs or if it is the consumption of the Wifi connection, because when I disconnect it seems that it lasts longer.

I'm starting to think that I won't be able to continue using this ROM.:cry:

I hold important meetings with the "Google Meet" tool almost every day. Unfortunately, the tablet started to restart at the meetings I attended (it's very scary, it crashes, the sound goes into a loop before restarting). I tried to solve it by removing the root, but I didn't get different results, besides the Wifi that keeps disconnecting when I need it most.

In my opinion, this ROM has many strengths, such as: SD card as internal storage, compatibility with higher versions of applications, etc.:love:

Anyway, I really liked this ROM in several aspects and I really want it to be improved! If it weren't for some mistakes, I would use it forever! But, unfortunately, I'm starting to think that I can't use it until it's stable.

    LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions :
    • Download the latest build and (optional) GApps
    • Boot to recovery
    • Flash the latest build
    • If you want GApps you have to mount system first:
      Mount -> System -> Go back to the first page and install GApps as normal
    • Reboot

    • If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

    For anyone trying to figure out how to get this or other ROMs working on the T280 with a valid google account (without FRP ruining all of your fun), here is what you need to know:

    * Follow instructions to install custom bootloader, ROM and GApps Pico (see OP)
    * Download ADB here: https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
    * Unzip to a folder, open a cmd prompt and navigate to that folder
    * On the tablet, perform initial setup and go into settings, Developer Options and enable root access (ADB only)
    * Connect your tablet to your PC.
    * Run the following commands:
    * adb devices (confirm that adb "sees" your device as connected)
    * adb root
    * adb remount
    * adb pull /system/build.prop
    * Now you will have a copy of build.prop in your adb folder. Edit the file with notepad, or some other simple text editor that will not insert hidden characters.
    * Find the following entry: ro.frp.pst=
    * Comment it out (disable it) by adding a # at the beginning of the line. Ex: # ro.frp.pst=
    * save the file
    * Go back to adb and run the following commands
    * adb remount -o rw /system
    * adb push build.prop /system/build.prop
    * adb shell chmod 644 /system/build.prop
    * adb remount -o ro /system
    * adb reboot
    * Add your google account. You could add your account before modifying build.prop, but if you forget and reboot you'll be out of luck and will have to start from scratch flashing the factory ROM, etc.
    * That should do it! You should now be able to reboot as much as you like.
    * If you want extra assurance in the event that build.prop ever gets overwritten, you can blank out the FRP partition with FRP destroyer (I recommend): https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/frp-destroyer-flashable-zip.3920067/

    When I tried FRP destroyer without modifying build.prop, I never got to install it with TWRP as FRP would already be blocking me from booting. It is possible that I was doing things in the wrong order, but I thought I would share just in case someone finds themselves stuck like I was. I am not a pro at this, I have used CM on a few devices in the past but have never dealt with FRP before. I prefer to share my learnings to hopefully help others in the future.

    Cheers!

    I'm a newbie in this topic. Can you guide me how to do it on my device? At this point I made everything like expalained in the link below and I'm stuck on error 7 in TWRP. View attachment 5177541
    Hi,
