New builds with November 2020 ASB fixes available

Hi all,

new builds are available for download and will soon be available via OTA updates:

A. Default LineageOS 14.1 with substratum and microG patch

• Bromite Webview on 86.0.4240.181
• Updated microG with fixes in GCM and EN API
• Replaced weak F-Droid signatures with ROM's V2 signatures (see note below)

Please note:
The F-Droid and F-Droid privileged extension have been re-signed with this ROM's signing key. F-Droid keeps compatibility also to older Android versions, which however results in the necessity to use weak V1 signatures. In addition, they don't use V2/V3 signatures. To overcome this issue, the F-Droid apps have been built from source and V2-signed with the ROM's signing key.
You therefore need to de-install any updates, if you have made any - do do so, simply deactivate F-Droid and F-Droid privileged extension and activate them again. In case there were any updates, they will be de-installed and you will have as a result the delivered re-signed apps in their newest version.

erst einmal danke für das tolle Rom. Ich bekomme kein Adaway.APK installiert, egal welche Version und von welchem Server ich die APK runterlade bekomme ich immer eine Fehlermeldung, beim Parsen des Paketes ist ein Problem aufgetreten. Ich habe noch ein Moto G Falcon und habe dort dein Falcon Rom laufen, da funktioniert die Installation einwandfrei ! Könntest du weiterhelfen, woran das liegen könnte ?

Die Installation habe strickt nach deiner Anleitung durchgeführt.
Das ROM ist mit der Lineage Addonsu gerootet, Aps und ADB haben Root zugriff.
Die Installation von unbekannten Quellen, ist eingeschaltet.

the forum rules dictate to use English as communication language here, so I am answering in English.

A couple of questions to your issue:
- Which build variant do you use? Standard or microG?
- Does the package parsing error ONLY occur for the AdAway apk or also for other apk files?
- Is it the same apk file, which properly installs on your falcon, but not on your peregrine?

I just can't install the adaway apk, no matter which variant I take, the current 5.1.0 or older. no matter if I download them from Github, F-Droid or sourceforge, no variant can be installed. I can install other App apk files !
I also tried the same apk file that I installed on my Falcon, it doesn't work

Thanks, next questions: - Do you have Gapps installed? If yes, which flavor? Do you have the same Gapps setup on your falcon?

And do you have any "security / antivirus" app installed? If yes, uninstall! This is "snake oil" on Android (at best: completely useless; otherwise: causing such issues, whilst spying you out and/or being itself a vulnerability)

Hmm..., ok - first things first.
The AdAway version 5.1.0 declares the minimum SDK to be 26, which is Android 8.0 aka "Oreo":
This ROM is Android 7.1 ("Nougat"), aka SDK 25. Hence, there is no chance to get this version installed on any Android 7.1 ROM - you need to install an older version still supporting SDK 25 (e.g. version 4.3.6)

Then - to your specific device issue - please try the following (using version 4.3.6):
1. Reboot to TWRP recovery and wipe cache and dalvik and reboot the system again
2. If that does not help, enable developer settings, connect your phone to the PC, have the downloaded 4.3.6 apk file on your PC and try to install the app via adb:

adb install AdAway-4.3.6-200726.apk

Please let me know the error message, if any.
