Hi,

I tried to install this magisk module:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...magisk-long-screenshot-mod-android-9-t3956797

Unfortunately nothing happened... Module just doesn't show in magisk app and is missing in apps like nothing happened.

Maybe you know why

Edit: v2.0 shows in magisk settings but app doesn't show as app. I checked /system/app and /system/priv-app/ for needed files and everything is good.

I really miss long screenshot in LOS.

Hello !
I'm aware that the fix was brought a few weeks (months) ago, but still, I came here to thanks for the fix about the SDCard / init.yoshino.usb.rc (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81732137&postcount=903)

Not only this fixed some weird FS behaviors, this also greatly improved the performance / responsiveness of the phone. Thought it was important to emphasize, if someone else has a laggy phone for no real reason :)

I have a newb question, compared to all the pros here :)

Does it matter if I leave this lineage OS as my daily driver on XZ1C ?
my logic is that it won't get security updates, but then, Sony abandoned it anyway right ? So it doesn't really matter that I stay on LOS 16, even without updating it for 2 more years in theory, is that correct ?

Also some small usage questions:
1. Waze only works with GAPPS flashed, correct ?
2. Does LineageOS send off-screen telemetry without permission(like in stock) with the Whatsapp/Youtube Vanced accounts attached (but no gapps?) ?
3. Any way to install Icon packs ?

Thanks guys, you're awesome !

Security fixes are still implemented at OS-level, so it's still advisable to use a recent version.

LineageOS itself doesn't send data to YouTube or WhatsApp, but the apps themselves still do, even without Gapps.

Icon packs are dependent on what launcher you use, afaik. Idk if Trebuchet supports them, if not you can look into alternatives like Lawnchair and Nova Launcher. The icon packs can be installed like regular apps and usually need to be enabled in the Launcher settings.

Thank you Sir !
I am having a great time with this ROM so far. It's good solid work. I hope the 17.1 becomes as stable as this someday ?

@modpunk
Is it possible in theory to patch the eSpeak Text-To-Speech engine onto dalvik, as the default TTS, in the next revision ?
Or do you need Root access at the client ?

English eSpeak would really eliminate the need for any of the google stuff.
It will be used with the OSMAND nav app (that cannot speak its text guidance over Lineage OS due to having no text to speech engine without gapps)

https://together.jolla.com/question/19666/text-to-speech-tts-for-android-apps-in-alien-dalvik/

Scroll down a bit, this guy managed to do it but I think he's rooted.

Besides that - You are a true talent. I wish you success in whatever project you move to.
Thank you very much

Short help for a dumb user needed

While upgrading to LOS16.0-v1.0 from LOS 15.1 I accidentally wiped the whole device while upgrading the firmware after NOT removing the *.ta, *sin... files

Now I want to upgrade from LOS16.0-v1.0 to LOS16.0-v1.2, WITHOUT loosing data and setting the whole phone from the ground up.
Do I just have to put on the .zip-file of the ROM to my sd-card and install it via TWRP? Which settings (wiping, cleaning etc.) need to be checked?

I'm very very thankful for every help :victory:

Thanks and cheers!

Any news with signature spoofing and MicroG ?
Alternatively, is xPrivacyLua/xposed working well with this rom ?

Thanks ♥

Just make a backup (always a good idea) and install the new version. No need to wipe anything.

I personally updated my self-built LOS 15.x to the current version without wiping anything, and the only thing that I lost was, for some unknown reason, the launcher layout.

Both EdXposed and XPL have worked well for me.

Nice, I used the SU Root in the first post... Will I have to install Magdisk as well ?
Is there a way to edit MAC/DEVICEID without xposed/magdisk ? that's all I need really.

Privacy manager in this ROM is great for permissions so i'm left with ID.

Confirm, edxposed YAHFA works, xprivacylua works. Gravitybox pie works (be careful what you actually enable, some options are included in system)

Only problem I have is font change to e.g. Microsoft century Gothic (I really like it) on lockscreen after change, there is square instead of ":" in clock. (I did it previously using ifont)

Is there possibility to change device off charging animation, I really like that stock Sony with battery status precent and it was much bigger than small LOS animation.

If I remember correctly, Mr. Rusell5 used in his builds Sony stock animation.

I found two files that are may be useful - see attached files

Can anyone help? :)

Hey Guys,
for some reason my XZ1C lost it's network signal this morning and doesn't find any signal any more. I didn't do anything this morning. It worked just fine before
I rebooted it several times, no difference

Can anybody help me please? Is this a known issue? Any workaround?

Thanks!

The same thing happened to me a couple of times. Clearing Dalvik+Cache usually fixed it. Sometimes I had to manually clear all data of CustomizationSelector.

Thanks for the answer!
Can you explain that a bit more detailled?
I rebooted into TWRP, selected wipe, advanced wipe and there dalvik/ART Cache & Cache.
After a reboot, nothing changed...

Edit: I openend "CustomizationSelector" in the applist and forced it to end. After that I cleared its cache and rebooted the phone - Nothing changed.
Should I try to delete all the appdata of "CustomizationSelector"?

Any other help?

Yes, sometimes I had to clear the appdata of CustomizationSelector.

Having said that: It helped in my case. Yours might be different.

Yeeeessssss, clearing the appdata of CustomizationSelector was the key! Thanks a lot!!!:eek::eek:

I guess it's good to know how we can work around it, but it was a little concerning to have both my wifi and cell networks poof like that overnight. I was starting to wonder if my phone's hardware was failing.

I have noticed that my cell network likes to disconnect/reconnect every now and then with frequency. Hopefully this will be fixed with this magic workaround, too.

    SECURITY ADVICE

Don't flash ROMs or Magisk modules which set SELinux to permissive or you welcome malware on your device!

    UPGRADE LINEAGEOS

If you're running LineageOS 15.1 you can simply flash LineageOS 16.0, upgrade the firmware for modem etc. and be done. There is no need to wipe the data partition, just clean dalvik and cache after updating LineageOS.

    UPGRADE FIRMWARE

    • Grab the Sony Stock firmware using e.g. XPeriFrim. You should always flash the firmware matching the LOS build.
    • Grab newflasher and put it in the same folder as the firmware files.
    • Read the newflasher original post on XDA for general instructions!
    • Remove the follwing from the folder so they won't get flashed:
      • all *.ta files (keep the one in the boot/ directory)
      • cache*.sin
      • fotakernel*.sin
      • kernel*.sin
      • persist*.sin
      • system*.sin
      • userdata*.sin
      • vendor*.sin
    • Turn off your phone
    • Hold the volume down button and attach it via USB to your system till you see LED turning green
    • Run newflasher from within this directory to flash the remaining files
You can say yes to the first optional step, in case you dont have working drivers installed.
Skip the second optional step (dumping of trim area), it's useless if your bootloader is unlocked already and takes a long time.

    How to get root?

Flash the su addon from LineageOS you can find here: https://download.lineageos.org/extras

    Google Apps

You can download and install the Google Apps from opengapps.org. You need ARM64 and 9.x. I suggest to *always* use the pico package. If you need additional apps you find them in the Play Store.

    Privacy Guard for GApps

I wouldn't run GApps without Privcy Guard. Here is what you need to do:

Go to: Settings -> Security & location -> Privacy Guard

Open the advanced menu (3 dots) and select: Enable by default and Show built-in apps.

Search for Google Play Services and turn it on by tapping the entry. A long press will give additional options. There are more Google Apps you should turn it on and revoke permissions like the syncing stuff.

    FDroid

This ROM comes with FDroid and the Privilege Extension pre-installed.

    MicroG

This ROM doesn't support Signature Spoofing. However we are watching MicroG and check if they provide newer builds e.g. for Android Pie.

    Simple Mobile Tools

This is a collection of really awesome Open Source and AD-free Apps! Don't get confused by the name! Especially the Calendar and Gallery app are really good! If you like his stuff, support him by buying the Simple Thanks app.

You can find them in FDroid and the Play Store.

    Known Issues

Some apps don't work (Gardenscapes, Die Zeit, ...)

When an app is installed then it should ask for Permissions on the first startup. However for some apps this doesn't happen. To fix it you need to go to Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> See all apps -> Select the App -> Permissions. Now manually activate the required permission, normally the Storage Permission is missing in that case!

I've uploaded v1.1 which is likely the last 16.0 release. I will move to 17.1 soon and provide a ROM :)
