further security updates?

I don't see any security updates for the past couple of months. Has this project been abandoned?

I see that a Lineage 17.1 build exists, but UnifiedNlp apparently doesn't work yet on that one, and I would rather not cripple my phone's location/navigation capabilities.

I am in the same position and am interested in whether new security updates are integrated into this ROM.

@modpunk and @"darf erlot" made it clear that they would move to 17.1, and then end support by the end of the year as they are moving to Samsung Galaxy S10e. There were posts on this either here or in the 17.1 thread.

I don't think that's clear at all, since there is nothing about that in the main post of this thread.

The post I found says "provide monthly updates at least till the end of the year", which is not at all the same as definitely ending support by the end of the year. Maybe they'll end up deciding they love us enough to keep applying security patches for a while longer.

Do you need a lot of disk space to build it on your own ?
I have a slow internet connection and not much space, it would be really awesome if you could share your builds publicly ?

Do you know how to build TWRP from those sources? The instructions don't include that part.

Last time I built LineageOS, it used nearly 200 GB of disk space. About half of that was the source code, while the other half was build output.

Are you just using Magisk or also EdXposed? In the latter case EdXposed may be at fault.

Lineage repo sync is about 40 GByte. Have been building for the past four month and the build directory is currently at 182 GByte. So yeah, it's not a lot but it's not nothing.

As for sharing. My current builds aren't intended for that, but I might look into it :fingers-crossed:

Would you care to expand on that? The instructions in that thread do not appear to be for building TWRP at all, but instead for building LineageOS. If you are able to get a working TWRP build from that repo, I would love to see what you did, step-by-step, starting from an empty directory.

I don't know why, but I can't edit permission: on internal memory
trying mix, this failed
trying on a terminal under my phone, this seems to work, but no.
the only way I managed to get it working is by change file permission under TWRP :/
edit: I managed to get it working y using adb root on my laptop

Regarding the security updates status: If you compile the ROM by yourself you will still have the security updates in part of LineageOS which is used on many devices (LineageOS's applications, libs, etc.) as LineageOS 16.0 is still being updated. As far as I can see the lineage-16.0 branch of the XZ1 Compact's kernel does not have any commits (~changes) since the last published build so that is where you would lack of security updates unless you also port/merge them by yourself.

It seems like the system.new.dat isnt a sparse image?

I miss the "secure startup", with a pass for the first startup? (phone seems to be complete encrypted)
