I updated from 1.5 to 1.7 and since then I Mobile network 4G does not work. I have to set 3G to use phone services at all. Also the WiFi switches off and on all the time. o_O
So, I tried a downgrade to 1.5 again. But that doesn't work either; it does not boot and going straight to TWRP.

Does anyone please have a solution? How to reapair "Mobile network" or how to downgrade without having to start from scratch and install and configure 200+ apps manually.

Set Preferred network type to 3G, and reboot the phone. after phone is booted, switch back to LTE

Thank you; the phone did not freeze again and WiFi seems also to work more solid. For a few seconds I had a "4G" symbol after switching back to 4G Preferred network type. However, now I only get a "H" or "H+" symbol. Does that mean HSDPA and not LTE?

Very well, the monitoring app says it is connected to LTE. So I keep watching.
Many thanks for the fast support, Rubik.Orange.

I figured that it is required to toggle to 3G before every reboot of the cellphone and switch back to 4G after the phone restarted. Once forgotten, you are offline for calls and mobile data.

Can anyone confirm this odd behavior? Probably a downgrade to 1.5 it is the best option for my Xperia XZ1C? Is a downgrade possible without the TWRP loop?

Yes, I can confirm this. I did a fresh install. I am using the O2 Network in Germany

Did it work without the workaround after a fresh install?
Same issue here as well. It can be resolved without reboot for me by repeatedly toggling 2g 4g and airplane mode(no particular pattern) do this until the 4g registers LTE in the top bar. Upon reboot, it 100% fails to register and I have to do this but it also does this anytime I enter a dead zone and out again.

Similar behavior on my end. However, it sometimes works, sometimes does not. Most times, I need to switch to 2G/3G after a reboot, but not always. Same thing for out of service areas. Most of the time it will reconnect automatically but sometimes I also need to fall back to 2G/3G manually. This is particularly annoying when driving longer distances.

Yes, I can confirm this as well. In about 90% of all startups, the phone does not connect to the network and WiFi is shaky (network: Telekom Germany, modem config amss_FSG_lilac_telekom_germany_volte_vowifi_tar.mbn).

My workaround for the moment:
  • switch to 3G
  • wait until it connects
  • leave it there for a while (a minute or so)
  • switch back to LTE.
When I have gone through this process, connection seems to stay stable until I disconnect from the mobile network by e.g. turning on and off airplane mode. Then it stops working again.
I am almost completely at home however at the moment thanks to Covid, thus no switching of mobile network cells etc...

The phone worked flawlessly with 1.6.

In case anybody can point me to an instruction how to create/open e.g. log files I will be happy to provide further information.

Edit: phone runs fine (albeit without VoLTE) if I choose amss_fsg_lilac_telekom_tar.mbn.

Weird. As I wrote above, I had a similar problem but it was solved for good after I changed network type to 4G preferred in Settings.

Yes, that was what worked for me when I switched from 1.5 to 1.6 - for some reason however this did not do the trick this time... maybe it has to be done in a special order. I remember starting with 1.6 in 3G mode, then switching to 4G directly before the next reboot. This time, I rebooted sveeral times before I remembered I had to do this (phone is shut down every night)

Is there some way to re-execute the initial modem configuration that is executed during first boot after the update (apart from - most likely - reinstalling)? I would like to try redoing the process I followed on 1.6.

had the same issue, a warning message about how google play services does not support it
I don't have a car to test, but I can install, configure, and launch the Android Auto app.

Are you using Magsik and/or EdXposed? I noticed that Magical broke right after installing 1.7, and a few days later EdXposed no longer worked. I had to go to Magisk Beta, and EdXposed Canary to work around that. On EdXposed Canary, there was recently a bug that stopped banking apps from working correctly. Might be the same for Android Auto.

Go to settings, carrier settings, set preferred network to 2G. Wait for a minute or so. Switch preferred network back to LTE. This issue was mentioned a couple of times during the last week.
