Should we integrate this stuff into the ROM ?

- add service into init.rc
- copy the systl.conf into system/etc
- copy the sysctl binary into system/xbin/bb

The bb/sysctl binary is prebuilt ?
Pls post link for the used sources.

But no chrome beta inside ROM ..

What do you think ?

I'm no expert in these things, and I found these tweaks in an old thread from 2009 for a device with few RAM (but it seems it is useful for manta).

Maybe we should wait for some more user experiences under these sysctl-settings as it can be easily set in kernel adiutor.

And what about getting rid of ksm for zRAM in the kernel as I think ksm produces too much cpu load for less useful effect?

I am not the tuning/performance specialist either ;)

Have a look here .. ksm and swap to zram.
https://source.android.com/devices/tech/perf/low-ram

All the kernel settings are already active ..
https://github.com/followmsi/androi...rch/arm/configs/followmsi-lineageos_defconfig

There is not zram config in fstab.manta yet .. also fine tuning for ksm needs to be checked.

I can disable config_ksm completely .. or maybe better to fine tune via init.rc commands.

Pls check what is the best setup for lineageos on manta ..

Sorry, I will not have the time to participate in testing .. but I am happy to implement the "best" solution.

Cheers

Yes, did a dirty flash with wipe of system, cache and dalvik.:)

Wiping cache/dalvik is quite safe but wiping system has many downside effects. Play Services FCs and Translate FCed.
I had to reinstall pico gapps then magisk. I thought a true dirty flash was without wiping anything, which is how I have been flashing these monthly security updates.

I'll never wipe system again unless I'm completely starting fresh including all apps.

I made the opposite experience in having FCs in NOT wiping system parition. It always depends on the updater-script in the rom-file...you never now, if there are commands included for wiping system (in this case it is enough to only wipe cache and dalvik). If the commands for wiping system don't exist in the updater-script, then you have a good chance to get in trouble somehow afterwards. So I learnt my lesson well and made it a habit to always wipe system in a dirty flash.
When flashing the new rom, I always flash it with latest open gapps nano...so I never have any FCs, despite the open gapps packages are buggy.

Hi.

I've just installed the latest Lineage OS with Opengapps pico and Lineage OS Root zip and I am stuck on Setup Wizard. I cannot get past it as it keeps on crashing.

What do I do?

According to razorloves, maintainer for some other devices, is something wrong on some devices with the setup wizard
Install an older Version and update with the last version

Hi.

I'll try the 1509 version and if that doesn't work I'll try the August release.

---------- Post added at 04:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:48 PM ----------

Build 1509 works. 2109 does not.

So I flashed the LineageOS root zip and I have no root. How would I go about getting root?

Once you have made fresh install with working setupwizard you can upgrade to 2109 to catch all the September security fixes.

Will make a new build in a few days .. when the setupwizard has been fixed.

You could try to first install the ROM and SU without Gapps. Boot to the ROM, complete the parts of setup that you can without Gapps. Then reboot to recovery and flash Gapps and you should be able to use the device. That's what worked for my Nexus 7 anyway with the same issue.

@followmsi Many Thanks for this build ;)
I updated today from Android 9 / Lineage-16.1 to this version and its running fine for me :)
I only have waited to update to Lineage 17.1/Android 10 because my son had some games with highscores under Android 9 :)
Great work - real new life for my Nexus 10!

Mine is extremely laggy too and have very few apps installed, certainly nothing that takes substantial CPU or GPU. Any thoughts on how to decrease lag?
Maybe you could try to trim the flash with Trimmer (fstrim):

I also got very few apps installed. Mostly its getting better when clearing the Internet-Cache in Google Chrome or use "SD Maid" to clear some space:

My Nexus 10 is also sometimes lagging, but its better than on my Samsung SM-T900 where also the flasing of the image is very slow.
On the SM-T900 for me it looks like the flash is giving partly up on working correctly :(

But since Android v4.3 the Android itself should do the trim if the device has long time for its own in a unsed state.

    LineageOS

    lineage-17.1-20210613-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip

    Known issues:
    - Pls disable "Adaptive brightness" in display settings -> sensor service problems.
    - GPS is not working and has been disabled completely
    - NFC is not working and has been disabled completely
    - Watchdog has been (partially) disabled - in case of crash/bug you may need to reboot using power button.
    - Camera is not working .. same problem like on Nougat. (broken HAL1 camera and unsupported HAL2 camera)
    - Encryption seems not to work - and has not been tested. -> Pls do not encrypt your data partition yet.

lineage-16.0-20200913-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip (DISCONTINUED) -> Pls check here for new builds !

    Known issues:
    - HWC (hardware composer) is partly broken (icons are not shown correctly and black home screen - some overlays have problems .. etc.)
    - Encryption seems not to work - and has not been tested. -> Pls do not encrypt your data partition yet.
    - NFC may not work correctly and drains a lof of battery - Pls disable thru settings menu.
    - If you set pin, pattern or password to unlock the device pls be patient - if you press "confirm" the system is freezing for a few minutes - just wait.
    - Camera is not working .. same problem like on Nougat. (broken HAL1 camera and unsupported HAL2 camera)

lineage-15.1-20190516-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip (DISCONTINUED) -> Pls check here for new builds !

    Known issues:
    - Encryption seems not to work - and has not been tested. -> Pls do not encrypt your data partition yet.
    - Headphone jack is not fully working (Pls use the "AudioJack" kernel -> 3.4.67 - current standard kernel for all Oreo ROMs)
    - If you install Magisk, pls disable Magisk "Hide" feature. (3.4.113 kernel issue)
    - NFC has been taken out - still not working.
    - Camera is not working .. same problem like on Nougat. (broken HAL1 camera and unsupported HAL2 camera)
    - If you set pin, pattern or password to unlock the device pls be patient - if you press "confirm" the system is freezing for a few minutes - just wait.

lineage-14.1-20181218-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip (DISCONTINUED) -> Pls check here for new builds !

    Known issues:
    - Camera is not working (broken HAL1 camera and unsupported HAL2 camera)
    - Headphone jack is not fully working
Due to the new kernel sources the Audio jack will not work correctly anymore. (2017-07-27)
If you need working Audio jack - pls install this kernel via TWRP: manta-kernel-lineage_20170509.zip

    Installation:
    1. Boot into TWRP
    2. Wipe system, cache, dalvik and data. (Not required if you upgrade from previous build)
    3. Install lineage-xx.x-yyyyyyyy-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip
    4. install opengapps or beansgapps (optional)
    5. install SuperSU.zip and/or Magisk.zip
    6. Reboot into system ..

    - Please install Magisk.zip and/or SuperSu.zip yourself.
    - Due to systemless rooting - if you have installed magisk and/or supersu before you need to install it again !
    - If you install SuperSu.zip it will boot twice - no panic, it's normal !
    - If you had gapps installed before you don't need to install gapps again - the installer will take care.
    - If you face any strange issues, pls do a factory reset via TWRP first.
    - If you have problems with SetupWizard from opengapps - pls install opengapps after first system boot.
    - BeansGapps SetupWizard should have no problems at all !

System and Cache repartitioning / Opengapps: Error 70
The current system partition is (getting) full !
You need to do repartition your system and cache partitions .. either via TWRP package or manually via shell.
    It's an one time task.

But the filesystem of the system.img inside the ROM will keep always the same size .. approx. 800mb.
The filesystem does not know the "real" size of the actual partition.
In general .. If you install an image into a partition the filesystem will have the size of the image (in our case 800mb).
The free space we got thru repartitioning needs to be allocated again.

For this reason we need to enlarge/resize the filesystem after each ROM update and/or clean install.
Only the filesystem .. the partition itself will stay untouched.
The automatic enlarge/resize of the filesystem is part of the ROM installer.

For manual repartitioning have a look here:

    Finally :)

It was not the kernel !
We are using fresh built OMX libs for each ROM .. since Nougat and before.
But the Oreo libs do have some problems.
For this reason we use prebuilt Nougat libs now ..

No Youtube problems anymore .. no video and memory issues anymore !
