I just booted into TWRP ..

- Wiped system only and
- installed latest lineage os,
- installed official pico package from today (0525)
- magisk afterwards.
- wipe cache
- reboot

No space issues at all .. pls confirm !

-wiped cache, dalvik, system, data, internal storage
- flashed RR-O-v6.0.0-20180523-manta-Unofficial.zip with twrp 3.2.1.0
-flashed official gapps pico for 8.1 arm: got "insufficient space" error
- tried flashing 2 more different small sized gapps: all "insufficient space error"
- flashed gapps pico unofficial I gave link to a few posts ago
- flashed magisk
- wiped cache, dalvik cache
- rebooted
-flashed xposed sdk 27
-rebooted
Working fine except the battery.

The RR image is bit bigger .. will need to check it next time.

For battery pls open terminal app and type as root..

echo "0" > /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/run

Does battery improve ?

Edit:

Tested RR now .. as you said, current official pico packages do not work.
Used older official version from march 06, was still in my download folder.
Maybe newer versions working too .. But not the one from today.
Strange as free disk space is similar to lineage installation, here it works.

Battery life

For Lineage .. RR and AOSP the same issue.
KSM (Kernel Samepage Merging) is running like hell.

Pls open terminal app and type as root ..

Code:
echo 0 > /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/run

Checked battery monitor app .. before kernel was using approx 15% .. now it's approx. 8 % !

KSM can be disabled on kernel level too.
AOSP has some tuning parameter, maybe we use them instead of disabling completely.
Needs to be tested ..

Pls reoprt any findings ..

Cheers

Did some testing and found that pico will install if you change the opengapps install to Include.

    Code:
    adb sideload urr/RR-O-v6.0.0-20180523-manta-Unofficial.zip
    Total xfer: 1.00x

    adb push urr/include-gapps-config.tx /sdcard/Open-GApps/.gapps-config
    urr/include-gapps-config.tx: 1 file pushed. 0.0 MB/s (132 bytes in 0.011s)

    adb sideload opengapps/open_gapps-arm-8.1-pico-20180526.zip
    Total xfer: 1.07x

For some reason opengapps default Exclude install errors out on the RR build.
    recovery.log is a failed install.
    recovery2.log is successful install.

I installed BBS and GSAM yesterday. I don't know how to interpret the stats yet but the second highest percentage of battery utilization belongs to Kernel and third to LineageOS. BBS lists the powermanagerservice.display and powermanagerservice.wakelock as the two highest drainers, almost 40% in total.
I've been using UnleashOS 8.1 on my phone and its kernel is the highest consumer of battery, too. I guess there is a problem.

Powermanagerservice.wakelocks is the sum total of the partial wakelocks

    Powermanagerservice.display is screen-on time

Started a small test series yesterday .. want to check a few things on different OS (level).
    Testing battery (drain) too.

First a few full charges on lineage-13.0 .. yes, "historical" marshmallow too .. made a quick build for testing.

I have just switched to lineage-14.1 .. and back to Oreo soon.

My battery is super old and still not replaced. (100% last for 2:45 SOT )

No major battery life differences .. maybe Nougat a bit better as marshmallow.
In all ROMs screen is taking approx. 60% vs. apps/system .. approx. 40% .

    Still testing ..

off the coast o the kontiki!
Well I know you guys have been talking about YouTube & such but I got all excited when I saw that videos were now playing. So I installed the RR that was linked to & I set it up & I use allot of the channel apps. Such as History Channel go, & Discovery go to stream with & of course 4 minutes of streaming & the screen went black, device rebooted. So back in the drawer it goes probably forever & ever

Hi all. I just want to point out that I was wrong with the above quoted post.

    Pico does NOT install.
    Code:
    Install | Core | - 110432 | 36772
    Install | calsync | - 1796 | 34976
    Install | googletts | - 22032 | 12944
    Install | packageinstallergoogle | - 5692 | 7252

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
                          Additional Space Required | 1964
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
What you actually get is core only.
    Code:
    Install | Core | - 110432 | 30812
            | Buffer Space | - 9216 | 21596
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
Post Install Free Space | 21596
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
After spending some time in the opengapps thread and rereading the opengapps wiki and faq, it makes sense. I thought pico was the default core but, I see now that it isn't.

I apologize for any confusion I may have created.

SideNote: Now we know how to install OpenGapps smallest unpublished gapps package. ;)

    Thanks for your investigations ..

    Code:
    Buffer Space | - 9216 | -1964

    https://github.com/opengapps/openga...58ecdb3c825da71/scripts/inc.installer.sh#L157

If you unzip the pico package and edit the "installer.sh" file .. you will find "buffer_size_kb=9216".
    9216 are 9 MB - let's change it to 6 MB (6144) -> "buffer_size_kb=6144"

Zip it again and install full pico version without error message ..

Perhaps I will sync my opengapps repo and make an unofficial pico build including the "6144" value.

    I know .. quite dirty solution :)

    EDIT:
Here is the "6MB pre-modified" pico package ..

    https://wiki.lineageos.org/logcat.html

Pls test the following lib .. libcsc.so

Mount system partition read/write (as root) and replace the libcsc.so in "/system/lib" folder.
Reboot your device afterwards and test screen cast again .. any changes ?

    Thanks
Any Chromecast owner here ? ;)

Pls test the lib above and report if screen cast is working now.

Just use root explorer .. etc. to replace the current libcsc.so - and reboot afterwards.
I would like to include the lib into next build, if its working.

    Thanks

@followmsi Many Thanks for this build ;)
I updated today from Android 9 / Lineage-16.1 to this version and its running fine for me :)
I only have waited to update to Lineage 17.1/Android 10 because my son had some games with highscores under Android 9 :)
Great work - real new life for my Nexus 10!
      1
Mine is extremely laggy too and have very few apps installed, certainly nothing that takes substantial CPU or GPU. Any thoughts on how to decrease lag?
Maybe you could try to trim the flash with Trimmer (fstrim):

I also got very few apps installed. Mostly its getting better when clearing the Internet-Cache in Google Chrome or use "SD Maid" to clear some space:

My Nexus 10 is also sometimes lagging, but its better than on my Samsung SM-T900 where also the flasing of the image is very slow.
On the SM-T900 for me it looks like the flash is giving partly up on working correctly :(

But since Android v4.3 the Android itself should do the trim if the device has long time for its own in a unsed state.

      - GPS is not working and has been disabled completely
      - NFC is not working and has been disabled completely
      - Watchdog has been (partially) disabled - in case of crash/bug you may need to reboot using power button.
      - Camera is not working .. same problem like on Nougat. (broken HAL1 camera and unsupported HAL2 camera)
      - Encryption seems not to work - and has not been tested. -> Pls do not encrypt your data partition yet.

lineage-14.1-20181218-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip (DISCONTINUED) -> Pls check here for new builds !

      Known issues:
      - Camera is not working (broken HAL1 camera and unsupported HAL2 camera)
      - Headphone jack is not fully working
Due to the new kernel sources the Audio jack will not work correctly anymore. (2017-07-27)
If you need working Audio jack - pls install this kernel via TWRP: manta-kernel-lineage_20170509.zip

      Installation:
      1. Boot into TWRP
      2. Wipe system, cache, dalvik and data. (Not required if you upgrade from previous build)
      3. Install lineage-xx.x-yyyyyyyy-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip
      4. install opengapps or beansgapps (optional)
      5. install SuperSU.zip and/or Magisk.zip
      6. Reboot into system ..

      - Please install Magisk.zip and/or SuperSu.zip yourself.
      - Due to systemless rooting - if you have installed magisk and/or supersu before you need to install it again !
      - If you install SuperSu.zip it will boot twice - no panic, it's normal !
      - If you had gapps installed before you don't need to install gapps again - the installer will take care.
      - If you face any strange issues, pls do a factory reset via TWRP first.
      - If you have problems with SetupWizard from opengapps - pls install opengapps after first system boot.
      - BeansGapps SetupWizard should have no problems at all !

System and Cache repartitioning / Opengapps: Error 70
The current system partition is (getting) full !
You need to do repartition your system and cache partitions .. either via TWRP package or manually via shell.
      It's an one time task.

But the filesystem of the system.img inside the ROM will keep always the same size .. approx. 800mb.
The filesystem does not know the "real" size of the actual partition.
In general .. If you install an image into a partition the filesystem will have the size of the image (in our case 800mb).
The free space we got thru repartitioning needs to be allocated again.

For this reason we need to enlarge/resize the filesystem after each ROM update and/or clean install.
Only the filesystem .. the partition itself will stay untouched.
The automatic enlarge/resize of the filesystem is part of the ROM installer.

For manual repartitioning have a look here:
      https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77759823&postcount=953
      https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77762148&postcount=954

For automatic repartitioning have a look here:
      https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77764246&postcount=957
      https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77770425&postcount=960
      https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78219279&postcount=1059

Even Netflix is working now :)

      lineage-15.1-20180303-UNOFFICIAL-manta.zip

Otherwise you will get error 963 in playstore and can not install any apps anymore.
Also no .apk via file explorer .. etc.
Other strange issues could happen too.
The next issue to be fixed.

      Finally :)

It was not the kernel !
We are using fresh built OMX libs for each ROM .. since Nougat and before.
But the Oreo libs do have some problems.
For this reason we use prebuilt Nougat libs now ..

No Youtube problems anymore .. no video and memory issues anymore !
