I've dirty updated over latest 17.1 from modpunk. Please everyone who updated about Flamefire 20210422 to 20210603 share a short review with the community, thank you.
On the first boot phone seemed to have gone into a bootloop even though I've wiped cache/dalvik.
Could be. I've waited several minutes and tried attaching `adb logcat` to see if I'm looping or not, but that wasn't successful, so I've just rebooted. What I know: First boot may take a long time, especially when dalvik is wiped. It is basically compiling all packages.
Vibration for calls/notifications works for me (dirty flashed as well from 20210422 as mentioned above), but the haptic feedback seems weaker than before. I did not really notice that since I have it on a very low setting anyway.
Before downgrade try set the performance level up because the kernel type change, Flamefire hinted at it and if you are interested you can read a lot about the benefits of the eas kernel here.ok, is it possible to revert back to Flamefire 20210422 from 20210603 ? Just dirty flashing with dalvik/cache wipe ?
Yes the performance profiles were an addition by LineageOS. Changing those basically affects the CPU and GPU frequencies. This is now done automatically by the new power manager which reacts on the current task. There is a huge change that has completely disappeared the Performance Profiles.
This is certainly due to the EAS kernel, whether it is good we will experience it.
Fingerprint is perfect without intervention, even though it was previously modified by me.
Of course, the magisk is essential for complete happiness which hides the open loader.
Yeah gonna do that over the weekend, no matter if the upstream kernel was merged yet or not. I guess after half a year it doesn't really matter if that small part is missing
Thanks. Dirty flashed the 17.1 and it seems to work well.Ok got it working and running the new 17.1 for a day now on my phone, have it here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=14943124697586359584
- June security patches
- 4.4.272 kernel (thanks to derfelot)
- Usual modifications to pass SafetyNet w/o Magisk
- Few fixes related to GApps permissions (maybe)
- New/Updated APNs (thanks to LOS and linckandrea)
The 18.1 version with the same changes is at: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=14943124697586359658
Again: I only tested the 17.1 build. The 18.1 should work but may bootloop or have other issues.
I recommend (for both builds) that you have flashed TWRP to the recovery partition on the phone and have a working ROM zip on the SD card (e.g. what you currently use) to be able to boot the phone back to recovery and reflash the old ROM in case of bootloops etc.
And as usual: Have your data backed up!
