+1 just adding that after flashing and booting including ART buildup and media scanner running that can happen even on charger, perhaps not on this device but my OP2 and my Nexus 6 can discharger even on charger during these processes with a large nandroid performed beforehand.
On 20160510, I lose about 10% overnight with 3G or WiFi enabled.

I have now restored a backup of the 20160616 rom and for me the video is playing without problems in chrome and the default browser.
I lost around 1-5% in 7hrs of idle with 20160616. I forgot my detailed battery stats when im in 0510. But I somehow remember it is just the same 1-5% overnight standby.
my device is not that hot anymore...even on continues usage...battery seems normal...i lose 1 to 3% on overnight standby (airplane mode)you can try to turn on the "monochrome mode" in developer settings then set power saving on...not a proper solution ..just a temporary work around..this is what i usually do specially when low in power
The error which you got when restoring the backup would be the reason.
You will normally see in the recovery log what is causing the problem.
A sign from your battery telling ya it's going to die soon.
Ahhhh thanks, I did try an old battery which was lying in my cupboard which gave the same issue so I thought it couldn't be the battery. That old battery was damaged too.
I think it is the usb port.
Well I can confirm the the USB port is having problems as well because if I push the charger wire upwards towards the screen even a little bit, the charging stops.
