What the GPS hardware. I need to change, because my GPS does not work.
Had time to find some info on the the Note! (though a different version) It's the same principle though, bend the contacts very slightly (preferred method) or add some foil or something that won't come lose (or a solder blob if you are a very handy solderer!) to keep pressure on contacts and stop them being flattened if you sit on your phone or something (possibly why they don't make good contact after a while).

(edit: note this is actually for a different version of the Note @bauner says the hardware is slightly different to N7000 but antenna area appears to be the same, even if different it should be close enough for people to fix their antennas)

Haven't updated in a while, though I do keep an eye on the changelog and noticed that you can now... send MMS without a data connection? How does that work?

You are right. The hardware is different but the antenna connectors seems to be on the same position

The data connection and mms uses different apn's.
If you will send or receive an mms then it will connect to the mms apn to send/receive the mms and then close the connection.
In earlier version this was only possible with enabled data connection

yes, that´s how I plan to boot into recovery initially, but what if something goes wrong during the installation?
is there another combination of buttons that doesn´t include home button?
There is no other key combination.
So if something should go wrong while flashing you can't boot into recovery or download mode without the home button.

The only way would be a usb jig to boot into download mode and then flash a stock rom with odin.

So it actually uses data, but "simply" (I don't know whether or not it is simple, haha) connects automatically. I think rephrasing the changelog might clarify this particular point. :)

It is, of course, a simple suggestion, o Bauner, mighty destroyer of bugs and other atrocities. ;)

My friend, thank you for this information. I will check if this is what is causing the GPS signal loss on my N7000. It may be that, had changed his housing. Thank you very much. Jehovah bless you.

It uses a data connection, but not the default internet data connection and it will not counted as internet traffic.

I tried the Xposed "EnableCMCallRecording" module... It only records the sound on my side, but not on the other side.
I don't know the behavior with a stock rom, but with all custom roms you can only record from mic.

how do I install CM12 without losing data and apps?
You need to do a factory reset before you go back to cm12.1. But you can make a backup of the current rom in the recovery before you do the factory reset. Then you can restore the current rom/userdata after you tested the gps in cm12.1.

But as you now wrote that you changed the housing you should first check that all antenna connections are ok.

What is your current recovery version and which tutorial did you use for installing? There are different tutorials and it depends on your currently installed rom/recovery which one you will need.

And now you want to install nightowl???
If yes then copy the rom + gapps to your sdcard then boot into recovery and follow
The steps to install it from an stock samsung rom are
and start with step 5

Update:

Now I have seen your post in the QA section...
If you currently have a custom recovery it should work with the steps above.

Maybe you forgot the recovery reboot in step 6????

Try to remove and reinsert the battery
Then boot with vol up + home + power on pressed into recovery.
Then flash the kernel from step 5
Remove and reinsert the battery again
boot again with vol up + home + power on pressed into recovery.
Factory reset
format /system partition
flash rom
flash opengapps micro, nano or pico for cm13
reboot
