This is the NightOwl LineageOS 14.1 Android 7.1.2 20180215 built from source for the Galaxy Note 1 GT-N7000/GT-N7000B

This LineageOS 14.1 based ROM is tested and running stable for all day use.
The most functions are working but there still can be some minor bugs!

Code:
Use my Roms only if you are sure about the risks of flashing custom Roms/Kernel to your device. I'm not responsible for any damage caused by using one of my files.
NOTE:
Because of the ART runtime since Android 5 all Apps will need more space. If you want to install more Apps you should think about repartitioning your internal storage. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642299
You can also find a repartition howto in the Howto Install section.

Known Bugs 20180215:

Enabled Ok Google on any screen will break Voice/Videocalls in Whatsapp and maybe other Messengers
Don't install supersu (it will give you a boot loop!) (the default rom internal root is working. you need to enable root in the developer settings)
Adoptable storage (formatting a sdcard as internal storage) is not working

How to Install:
If you are running a custom Kitkat, Lollipop or Marshmallow Rom:
1. Copy Rom + Google Apps to your sdcard.
2. Boot into recovery
3. Factory Reset + Format the /system partition
4. Flash the Rom and Gapps.
5. Reboot

The steps to install it from an stock samsung rom are:
If you have already an samsung 4.1.x running you can skip step 1

1.flash N7000ZSLR1_N7000OZSLR1_BRI (or any other other 4.1.2) stock rom using odin
2.Copy Rom + Google Apps to your sdcard.
3.flash PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT6-XSA-5.06.1.tar.md5 (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120702299) to get cwm recovery by using odin or mobile odin
4. boot into recovery
5. flash this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=20863 to get an updated recovery
(this step will make your old rom unbootable stuck in the n7000 screen but you can boot into recovery with press and hold "home" and "volume+" buttons and power on your phone)
6. you need to reboot! your device now to recovery
7. you are now in the updated recovery and you need to do a factory reset + format the /system partition
8. you can now install the rom and gapps and reboot your device

Howto Repartition your device and install this Rom:
Savin Vasudevan has written all the needed steps to repartition your device to add more space for installing Apps
(Please replace the files in Step 16 with the newest ones from this Post for cm14/android7)
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B9I1tLEDTBGPMk1obkd3VGpqWGc

Lanchon has made a tool to make it also possible to repartition your device in the recovery after you have installed the rom without loosing your data
https://github.com/Lanchon/REPIT

Here you can find 2 example zip file for the n7000 and some instructions how to use it with NightOwl
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66341193&postcount=2071

Updating If you are running an earlier NightOwl cm/lineage14.1 version:
1. Copy Rom to your sdcard.
2. Boot into recovery
3. Flash the Rom (you dont need to reflash the gapps if you update from an earlier nightowl version)
4. Wipe dalvik-cache and format the /cache partition (This will not delete your apps or data)
5. Reboot

How to enable root:
1. Go to Settings-About phone and tip 7 times on Build number to enable the Developer options
2. Go to Settings-Developer options-Root access and set it to Apps and ADB
Don't install supersu (it will give you a boot loop!)

And please report back the results... Thanks in advance.

Sent from my GT-I9195 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I had a thorough read of the link and decided not to give it a try for two reasons:

1. The described procedure is supposed to fix problems installing and updating apps via Google Play. I don't have these problems, also not with the app from the bank.

2. The device would still show up as uncertified. So it would not get me any step further with the technical support of the bank as they stopped their support at the moment they checked for this status.

Hi. Sorry to bother you guys. The ROM is wonderful and really smooth. But.. I am facing the GPS issue.. Phone is unable to track even a single satellite. There is no hardware issue as I have been using Bauner's CM 12.1 before upgrading to Nougat and GPS was working. Found a GPS config file in this thread and replaced through root explorer but it didn't solve the issue.. I'll be really obliged I someone can guide me about solving the issue. Thank you.

Did you just copy the gps.conf you found tot \system\etc\ or did you adapt the servers for your situation, the latter might be necessary.
When I test with GPS Status (eclipsim) i get about 10 sats with a fix of at least6 in seconds (even indoors).

Thank you for the reply. I copied just the file. Unfortunately don't have the idea about what parameters are to be changed in the file. If possible, please point me in the direction so that I can see how I should modify it for my situation.

5. Reboot
Would you mind updating this to be more clear (should be Lineage 14 only instructions). The words "earlier Nightowl CM" implies that older i.e. not 14.1 version can be installed with a quick flash and wipe of dalvik / cache and this is just not true. While it will install, you will get a bunch of play store errors (especially since you are likely not on gapps 7), and that you are better off doing a clean install. I've been a user of Nightowl roms for many years, and after many installs, bootloops, etc. , I should have known better. In fact, I stared at these instructions for a few minutes thinking "reallllyyy???". Unfortunately, my laziness got the better of me. Luckily, my phone is usable enough that I can access the browser to download gapps 7. But if I get tripped up by these instructions, a noob will definitely end up in trouble.

The top of the file starts with a bunch of time servers, you should "localize" these to your region. In my case the servers are set to the European and Dutch servers. Best to set them to a ntp-pool to get redundancy, the pool will get an available server for you. If you don't "localized" it might take to long and result in timeout.
The format used in my file for the first line is NTP_SERVER=0.europe.pool.ntp.org additional lines set other server in Europe and the Netherlands.
So do a Google search for your local NTP-pools and put those in your file.
Good luck...

Hi Prinus, Would it be possible for you to attach your good modyfied config GPS file here, because I also live in the Netherlands ? Is it just the same config file which was posted from Tamara here or your own configured file...? Thanks in advance ! Greetings !

Hi attached the file I use, but I can't take the credits. I've copied it from @tamaraxxx in a previous NightOwl version.
I can't remember whether or not I've made modifications, I do know it works for me.

On the other hand some sad news, last saturday my Note died whilst cycling in the cold weather to get some groceries.
I've tried a bunch of revival- and cpr-tricks to no avail. I think it's a gonner.
Thank you @bauner for the last 2,5 years and 3 versions of NightOwl (in my case).
I might be still hang around in these forums for a while, but to all good luck and don't forget to buy our dev a beer.
Cheers:highfive:

Hey @Prinus,

Thanks for all your input and friendly support! Highly appreciated.

May I ask which device you've chosen to replace your Note? With the outstanding work of @bauner it's quite hard to find a replacement that gets supported for so long on such a high level.

All the best!

Thanks for your warm words.

When I bought my Note(1) I came from a route over Palm V and Palm Tungsten. I wanted to keep the top of the line but not every newest model, so when it dies I go for top. So I ordered a Note 8. Waiting till august for Note 9 is a bit long. I won't know about the future support for the Note 8 yet, but I didn't as well when I bought my Note(1).

I was very glad when I found NightOwl after migrating from GB thru ICS to CM10. I've used @bauner's L, M and N version and am (was) very happy with it and bought him a couple of beers. Right now I'm brushing up my electronics and programming skills. I hope to start tinkering with ROM's in the future, I won't call it development yet. So I'll keep my old Note in the hope to revive it one day (maybe against better judgement) and maybe use it as a starting point for my tinkering. Bauner has left us with a lot of source code as well to read up on....
And otherwise maybe I can build my own Note 8 ROM one day.
Cheerz.

I don't know if it depends on my country, but I never had GPS issues. In fact, I own a Galaxy Note 3 and keep using Note 1 as navigator (Sygic and maps) and it works flawlessly.
In every device I use FasterGPS app to set GPS for Italy. Maybe you should try it.
