New base = full wipe. Difficult? Do a full wipe and a fresh install...

The main reason for a non rooted rom is the apps that will detect root and won't work (even disabling root temporary isn't enough) My banking apps and tv apps won't work and I need this on my big tablet.

I'm using Xposed and RootCloak to achieve this. No problems or incompatibilities so far

My Note 4 tapablahed this!

ROM is good, but after installation if I encrypt my data, after boot I won't stop getting "Unfortunately System UI has stopped"... won't even let me type in my password. just finished flashing for the 6th time. not sure what to do.

I've been using this ROM for a few days. it's fast and stable. I had to go with an unencrypted storage but... it's ok. now there's a much bigger problem that I might have to go back to the stock ROM for: bluetooth audio quality.

today I decided to watch some films, I put on my LG-JBL bluetooth earphones and the sound was rubbish. these are the same earphones that I use with my PC, my TV, my iPhone 6 Plus and my Galaxy Note 4. its sound quality is excellent IMOHO, especially on the PC. but with this ROM they sound like those bluetooth headphones back from 2007. the NotePRO is supposed to support the APT-X codec. I don't know if it's hardware or software. if it's via software it may have been removed by accident?

any ideas, @civato?

Have you looked at the Dolby Atmos and Beats Audio settings within the ROM? Suggest tooling around in there and experimenting with them enabled/disabled vs overlaying settings of both etc. Many ROM developers include such sound processors into their ROMs to give users choices. On TEKHD's ROM for the Note 4 for example all three (Beats, Dolby Atmos and Viper4Android) are installed and trying to overlay all 3 of them can yield poor results so I end up disabling one (usually Beats). It's all a preference thing IMO so it's good to have choices.

hey, thanks... of course I did, mate. I spent a considerable amount of time toying with those settings. to be fair, my assumption is that it's the exact presence of those sound processors that's causing the problem. I don't have wired earphones to test. sound from the speakers is pretty decent, but when it comes to bluetooth... also the LG-JBL bluetooth earphones support the APT-X codec. it has this feature that you can change EQ presets by holding volume buttons up and down together on the earphones, however the manual is very clear when it says that the that feature is disabled when the earphones are connected using APT-X. indeed I tried with other devices and it doesn't. but with this ROM it does. I can change EQ presets directly on the earphone, which means that it's not connected to the NotePRO / ROM via APT-X which is gigantic waste.

Ah ok. Yeah I don't know you may be right about something in this particular setup. I don't use bluetooth headphones nor do I use the current version of this ROM that has those features (i'm still a version back on Civato's ROM).

I would think that freezing both with Titanium might bring things back to near stock. Might sound flat though but no different than stock perhaps?

thanks for the input anyway, mate. unfortunately this bluetooth codec issue is a dealbreaker and I had to revert back to the stock ROM for the time being. sound is back blowing up my ears. I'll keep an eye on this thread for an update if it comes.

Update is coming, been working on a fully user controllable theming setup, see picture of what it can do. A lot of code changes had to be made so that is why it took me so long to get this working.
I also ported the Galery with the photo studio from the tabS to make it work on our device.

New features
Color control for the following:

  • Header
  • Brightness slider panel and Label
  • Quicksettings toggles and changing the backgrounds and text color
  • New layout for the quicklauncher and background colors and text colors
  • Notification background and text colors
  • ..........

For people having problems with bleutooth speaker problems, please go the the app

Audioeffects - (when connected to bleutooth)
Go to the tab speakers (right top side and select the bleutooth speaker that you are using) , try different speaker types. This is what I did and it boosted my bleutooth speaker like hell.
And make sure tha app is on.

great! it's possible to port air command from note5? Big thanks for your efforts!

@civato if you do please make it optional install. Note 5 air command is eye candy but trades having to take your focus off of the pen to find icons towards the side of the screen just to get customizability. Works OK on a phone but I don't think I would like having to use it on a 12 inch tablet. Much prefer clicking the pen and knowing that the pie menu will pop up right under the nib.

Don't worry , I don't add stuff that will break the essence of the tablet. My goal with this rom is full stock without root (as I need it to be rootless) but with customization from within the system.
So the features like spen airview stay stock. The gallery is the one from the S tab but don correctly, the burst shot mode doesn't work on our tablet so it won't be even available in the studio app. I removed it in the studio app so it won't show. It needs to be a clean look rom and not some rom with a bug list that this or that doesn't work when using ported stuff. I hate that. It has got to be 100%.

The rom is done, just need some time to upload it, I think it will be before the weekend.

Rev3.1 released

22/Jun/2016: UPDATE package Rev3.1 released:
  • Tab_S Galery ported with studio support
  • Color control of the whole expanded statusbar ( header, quickpanel, toggles, etc...) You find this in settings-notification window- advanced settings.
  • Samsung systemmanager ported from Tab_s
  • Unlocked dropdown features to get a better layout of the expanded statusbar - Feature smali edit in systemUI.

Installation tip.
Coming from Rev3.0 no need for a wipe, just dirty flash it.
Coming from older versions, full wipe is needed!

General tip:
Install the rom ( do not reboot) - install your CSC region from the add_on package = Now reboot.
Flashing region after the reboot will result in weird behavior.

Enjoy and remember this is my personal rom - no requests , I only add stuff I really want for myself. I just share this as there seems to be no support for a stock based rom.

Any suggestions on getting settings to open up at all (on 3.1).? Pull down shade, tap gear icon, shade closes, nothing else. Obviously I'm considering the need for a full wipe despite coming from 3.0, but since this is the only issue so far~figured I'd ask anyway. I don't see settings in the app drawer either, to try it that way.
Thanks again @civato for continuing to support or device!
