I finally installed. I also had the "black screen". I think it was because I went into download mode from TWRP instead of using the native button method, but not sure. Using TWRP, everything seemed to work, but I got the black screen. When I manually forced reboot into Download mode using power+volume down+home, it prompted me to go into download mode with volume up or exit with volume down. When I ODIN'd the bootloader that way, it "took". Then I wiped and installed and everything was fine.

Thanks Civato! Greatly appreciated.

flashed bootloader and newest twrp (mine was a bit outdated) via odin -> booted recovery -> full wipe (including full data wipe) -> reboot to recovery -> flashed civz rev 1.6 (only civz custom kernel ticked in aroma)
Didn't get the black screen issue!
Smooth like hell! Awesome rom!
Thank you civz!!

Just a FYI, and your mileage may vary: I dirty flashed over Hyperdrive KK (actually just forgot to run the wipes) and everything works great.

Pros and cons - This ROM vs the stock lollipop?

Stuck in the middle of choosing between the latest stable ROM and the official update.
I dont expect a really good 5.1.1 coming up soon?
I hope we can get more ROM developers working on the note 12.2 soon.

Update Rev1.8 coming

This is 100% stable!
And what is holding you back of starting to develop?
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

Rev1.8 is in the testing phase.

  • New Kernel Rev1.4
  • New extra rom control features
  • Disable 3Minit battery mod and switch to stock battery on the fly in the extra rom features. (without reboot)
  • Invisible statusbar buttons = Lockscreen, homebutton, recent apps button = can be disable in extra rom features. (without reboot)
  • New CSC regions added and all regions updated.
  • More language support (handwriting support) to many to list here.
  • Volume set to USA standards and not the EU limited one.
  • GPS auto update script for best gps connection, updates the file every 5 days
  • Some fixes in aroma
  • Total signature check disabled on stock framework and xposed framework.
  • Stagefright patched to USA version
  • mods ecompiled with new APKTool 2.0.2 for best optimazation.
  • Lots of stuff I cannot remember under the hood.
  • GMS updated to 5.0.3r
Release, probably before the weekend.

Maybe some may ask why not use the latest releases?

Well because this version supports more languages and is region free. (XX)
Not like the Korean rom or USA release as they are region limited.

Hi civato, will you make the new kernel available as a separate download like 1.2 and I think 1.1? I ask because I didn't see 1.3 available in the kernel download folder with the others and I was jumping back and forth trying to figure out the VPN issue I posted about previously. Also, I know you don't want requests but any chance VPN is working in 1.4? Currently I'm stuck between a choice of working VPN or working keyboard but not both. Sorry for asking but it's a consequence of you building a stable ROM people actually want to use every day. :good:

Thanks Civato for all your effort, you are single handedly making this device a beast!

Rev1.3 and upcoming Rev1.4 isn't public released in kernel thread for now.
I could upload it for you and and share the link.

I have no problems with vpn, but maybe you should give me some more info.

I use L2TP over IPSec VPN connecting to my ZyXEL appliance and with the stock kernel (your compiled version) I can connect successfully. With the custom kernel, v1.2 and 1.3, using the same connection settings I can no longer connect. Looking at the logs of the appliance the handshake and passphrase for phase 1 of the VPN connection works successfully but from that point on the connection times out. With L2TP/IPSec I need to provide the tunnel passphrase as well as login credentials for an account (username/password) and the issue occurs after the tunnel passphrase is accepted but before the login credentials are sent. I, of course, have checked credentials, etc. and they are correct and just swapping the stock kernel allows me to connect successfully with the same settings.

Edited to add: I have a Galaxy S4 running Lollipop and using the same parameters have VPN working successfully.

I appreciate the help.

Will take a look at some kernel compiling settings when I got the time.

Take a look into the kernel section
Compiled a new kernel with L2TP support activated, I hope this helps you.
So I loaded up 1.5 without updating the ROM, just to quickly check, cleared dalvik and cache and still have the same issue. VPN log shows the same as before as well. Ugh. I really appreciate the attempt, though, and realize its a pretty specific issue so no need to go crazy. I, myself, have searched up and down to try to get an indication as to what it could be, be it a setting or missing module and have found that there is so little info available that it makes it near impossible to debug.

Hey! Thank you for another awesome rom Civiato. Im excited to try this since ive been using your kikat version for a very lobg tme. I did try to follow your step but im having a bit of a problem here. What i did is, install the lolipop boot loader using odin, full wipe my device after back up (cache system and data) and install the rom. Then i encounter prblem which starts with "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" error message while booting up and the second one is i cannot pass the samsung lolipop flash screen. I can boot twrp and it seems the problem is with my cache and data which is i cannot mount. I did try to reinstall the rom again without any wipe and still cannot get pass the samsung flash sceen. Any inputs will be much appreciated and good thing is i got my whole day today to get this beast up and running again. Tia

I think the Google apps are missing in version 1.8 of the ROM. I tried flashing a few times and during setup keep getting Google Play Services errors so I reverted back to 1.7. Is it just me? I wanted to start with a fully clean slate and ended up inadvertently wiping my entire tablet so a clean slate is definitely how I started. (oops)
