I ahve a N7 3G 4.2.1
I have already unblocked the bootloader and rooted
Ad today i have never installed a custom ROM or KERNEL or LAUNCHER

I have installed til now severla apps (from Google Play or from apk directly)

I tried to use the MOD (link below)

but i was note able to use the hotspot
Better ... i was abel to create hotspot but the device connecetd to the hotspot of my N7 was not abel to surf internet

Now i want try to use this custom ROM
May i simply reinstall the apps, the data games or this installation will give to me a N7 completely "virgin" ??

As i wrote

If i flash your ROM i loose my apps, setting and others triggers until now introduced ??

Thanks a lot, everything works fine so far.

I used the GoogleAppsPack-4.2.1-JOP40D.zip file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998585 instead of the mentioned 4.2.0.

For everybody who is also flashing his Nexus 7 for the first time, I can recommend [Toolkit] Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.2 [Updated 12/29/12] to get the job done. The backup function saved me a lot of time reinstalling all my apps.

Are there several kind of backups ??
Have you to choose one of these ??
I think that a nandroid backuo (for example) overwrites the custom ROM when restored or not ??
I am interested in only apps and data game saved
I am user of Toolkit by Skipsoft but i am not able to choose a right kind of backuop in order to save apps and not comeback tio ROM stock

If you can't fathom the possibility of having to start bone dry then you have no business attempting to flash custom ROMs.

It is nothing personal. Simply put, we are not here to spoonfeed you. Everything you've asked about is 101. If you can't come to terms with the things you perceive as in your way there is no amount of spoonfeeding that will help anyway.

Plus you probably have to solder a wire between modem PCM port to audio codec PCM port.

Great callout.

Everything from a framework perspective is included but if its missing from HAL or hardware itself much more work is required.

Don't go grabbing alternate radio firmwares and drivers thinking they'll work. I have a modem bricked N73G that strongly suggests otherwise.

Looks like its just a matter of grabbing the native driver they're using and wiring it into boot up.

After a day and a half of downloading the new master branch (it was rather painful this time around) I am in the process of packaging GwT for 4.2.2

There are very few changes I've detected thus far between 4.2.1 and 4.2.2. I will be porting all items previously addressed in RC1 as it appears Google has done nothing to address things like the APN editor, SIP editor, and Camera.

I see no "easy" upgrade path but will be providing an update .zip. At this point I'm thinking full wipe, apply 4.2.2 factory image, then update to RC2.

... experimented with other roms .... always go back to your RC1 ... RC2 sounds (buggy?) at this stage... besides, "SMS and MMS are fully functional" in RC1, as noted in OP

The only thing outstanding for RC2 is interactive root. I'm having a helluva time getting Superuser to run properly from master... Will try the 4.2.2 branch next.

I sorted out root today going back to the 4.2.2 code branch. Apparently root is currently broken in master. With that said, I think I saw just as many changes between the 4.2.2 branch and what is currently in master as I did between 4.2.1 and 4.2.2

Suggests a 4.2.3 (or other) isn't too far off.

I might have RC2 packaged and available for download tonight. In addition to porting my other optimizations I'm looking to add (at the least) Reboot to the shutdown (power button long press) menu.

Having reviewed the code last night I was reminded that there's a built-in "safe mode reboot" out of the box... accessible by simply long pressing shutdown from the menu.
