I have a strange case of camera crashing. I have tried 3 other roms with bare min. apps. The camera works for the first few days and quits working for no apparent reason. I need to wipe dalvik/cache+system+data and reflash ROM to get the camera to work again.

I don't think its a hardware issue as I can get it to work after a clean wipe.

I have tried to tie it down to one/or more app(s) but no luck. It seems random. Any ideas on what I can try.

Thanks!

Run the built in LG Backup and move things you want to keep from your internal storage http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=67947945.

Flash the 10B TOT to start fresh:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=67945841
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=68040923
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68098895&postcount=1470

Reflash the 47A ROM and 35B Bootstack and use LG Backup to restore your stuff. TOTs can fix things that flashing KDZs and ROMs can't. Flashing a TOT will wipe all user apps/data and internal storage.

Hopefully roadwarrior or laserwolf452 will explain what I meant by read carefully, I was more based than you, I actually bricked my phone prior to getting help, patients and with luck one of those 2 will help, best of luck.
thanks

@bloodgull did you follow the link I gave you in post # 5497?
i did, thanks. problem now is usb drivers and both xp and win7 computer being unable to install the android lge MTP drivers. i did however, managed to find someone to ship my phone to that has it fixed with the latest OTA update and now running android marshmellow 6 on this latest firmware vs98547a. i am still wondering now how i can get TWRP to work on this G3, using windows will not be an option so looks like the only other way is with flashify. i am just confused about which version to try and flash as the last thing i need right now is for things to go belly up and have to pay out of pocket another $50 to get things working gain in the event of another failure due to me not reading or missing something inportant. i wont feel safe to keep my phone rooted unless i get some form of custom recovery setup which i urgently need.

DO NOT use Flashify or anything else to flash TWRP on your phone unless you're on 12B or lower. TWRP requires an unlocked bootloader, or in our case a BUMP-vulnerable bootloader, which 12B and below are.

Refer to the three links I give in the post immediately above yours for help flashing the 10B TOT.

i flash this rom and my g3 is trash now.after a search thru the thread i find out the hard way that i need it a 35b boot stack thanks for that.the op never mention anything on the beginning right before downloading the rom that the bootstack needs to be flashed along with the rom.
people like me that install this rom for the first time don't know about it so that need to be added to instructions. there's no need for us to find out this after trashing the phone and doing a search to figure out why is trash.

It states in the first post to not be a complete moron and go to the announcement post to find version specific flashing instructions because each version can and will have different flashing instructions. If you were too lazy to read this information in the first post followed by the announcement post for the version you wish to flash then you deserve to have a device that is "trashed" as you say. Who in their right mind blindly flashes things on their device without reading all included information (which is there for you to read unlike you claimed)? You, you are the person who chose not to read and "trash your device". You will receive zero sympathy from this community as we have all ran each version of this rom and never "trashed" our devices. Goodluck, maybe if you get it sorted out I can post some random zips for you to flash. I'll include instructions but you wont read them anyways!

Oh wow, now I feel like a turd. I reread it and reread it and you are right. It does not say you need to be on 35b bootstack. When I ran this rom (and for quite some time) myself and many other users must've just assumed that because it is based on vs985 35b that the 35b bootstack is required. That is I'm sure easily mistaken especially since many people with the vs985 primarily run CM based and AOSP based roms which allow the use of more than one bootstack. My bad man. I'm glad when I used it I automatically thought to use the 35b bootstack as this is based on the vs985 35b rom which makes sense to use the bootstack that was made for this rom by LG.

not going to be an ***, however laserwolf made a video(giving thanks to many people), in the video he easily explains what happens and how to avoid problems with a black screen, since you've trashed your phone i would suggest looking into flashing back to stock, and by the way in laserwolf video he explains if you do the wrong thing you will trash your phone, you cant blame the post, as the post explains very well, about bootstacks etc...

thanks but what i try to explain is the lack of info on the instructions in the beginning of this thread for new users of this rom.
i know that anyone who has used this rom before knows about the bootstack but what i try to say is the op did not mention anything about bootstack maybe he assumed everybody knows that.but new users find the hard way about it i knew
because i did a search on google and theres plenty of results under this rom about black screen.

i messaged laserwolf thru this site to ask, as i too was new to roms, i went from 47a to 10b,i new nothing about twrp etc, i also have screwed up, but you cant blame the post as roadwarrior on this post brings up "a million times he has explained bootstack", i made a million and one,, it clearly does explain the order to flash, and make sure you flash completely before flazing the update, which im assuming you flashed all and ended up "trashed", 9.1 is the update, so 9.0 has to be completed before flashing 9.1,,and in laserwolf video he also explains that. i assume you flashed kernel, rom, 9.0,9.1 and trashed?, if so it explains that 9.1 is flashed after 9.0 is completed.. not all at knce, you never explained the black screen or trashed lhone, honestly there are at least 50 posts of question of the correct order to flash, it happens, but the post has nothing to do with the trashed phons, suggestion, messave lasrrwolf, he was very helpful along with roadwarrior of whom is the best as far as knowledge..

Try flashing the 35B Bootstack from @xdabbeb 's VS985 v2.0.0 ROM thread in this section, if you didn't already.

I've had jasminerom successfully installed for over 12 months but have been running into issues recently (phone restarting itself, WiFi randomly disconnecting and then not being able to be turned back on), etc.

I've tried dirty flashing several other ROMs but they either bootloop, have even more issues (google play or bluetooth crashing every 0.5s with spam popups), or fail completely during install (cyanogomod).

I've also flashed XDABBEB's VS985 first but still get the jasminemod software type.

I have also flashed XDABBEB's VS985 47A stock ROM but get the same error.

I have Build number JasmineROM_v9.1-LMY47V configuration J13.LGE.VS985.0 software version VS98535B

What's the best way for me to get rid of jasmine and move towards a newer, supported 6.0 or 7.0 modded ROM? Do I have to flash back to stock with KDZ first? Unroot? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

I am just about to restore a recovery to JasmineRom 9.1 (coming from xdabbeb's 47A)
Can someone please confirm what bootstack is the correct boostack that I should install before loading my recovery?
I'm super paranoid and screwed this up the last time I tried a different ROM.

Also, is xdabbeb's 35B bootstack DIFFERENT from the 35B bootstack supplied in the JasmineROM 9.1 release notes?
Thanks.

If you're restoring a backup of the v9.x version of this ROM, flash either the 24B or 35B Bootstack AFTER restoring the backup.

I'm unaware of any other 35B Bootstack other than @xdabbeb 's.

Has anyone tried the Magisk root method on this ROM? (Or any other rooted 5.1.1 G3 ROM I suppose?) To use Google Wallet, or PokemonGo, etc. Method is generally described here:

I haven't followed Magisk yet, so I have no idea if it'd be compatible with our phones/roms. Thanks in advance.

I tried this yesterday and it bricked my phone. Luckily, I was able to boot into recovery and restored from a backup.

But I keep getting a notification to update, which obviously fails. I never received any update notifications when I was on 4.4.2

JasmineROM v5.0 Release [LP] [Stock] [Rooted] [Unmodified]

    Jasmine's supporters,
This is an initial release of the latest LP VS985 23B. It's Unmodified Stock/Rooted ROM to make it easy to upgrade to LP without the OTA hassle & to prepare partitions for future updates. It also keeps Bump-signed images (TWRP recovery & custom kernels) working without affecting any of the current ROMs/Kernels. You might need to just flash modem & kernel (check post #4 for official firmware) if you'd like to downgrade or switch ROMs (only if they're not already included in that ROM).

The installation is quite simple (much less complicated than it sounds): you just need to run installROM.sh script; the other steps are just for preparation/clarification. This method just works in all situations (coming from Stock KK 10B/11C/12B or AOSP LP) we tested to update all relevant partitions. The future updates will be in the form of a regular flashable .ZIP file.

    Installation Instructions:
    1. Make Nandroid backup of your ROM via TWRP recovery

    2. Download & extract JasmineROM_v5.0.zip (use Zarchiver)

    3. Make sure you don't have any partition images in internal storage (/sdcard)

    4. Copy all files in JasmineROM_v5.0 directory to internal storage (/sdcard)

    5. (Re)boot into TWRP recovery

    6. Use Terminal Command (in TWRP) OR ADB (from PC/Mac/Linux via adb shell) to run the following 3 commands:
    Code:
    cp /sdcard/installROM.sh /sbin/

    chmod 0755 /sbin/installROM.sh

    sh /sbin/installROM.sh
    • The first two commands shouldn't print anything.
    • The 1st command copies the script to /sbin & the 2nd sets its permissions.
    • The 3rd command runs the script only if it's in /sbin (1st command) & has executable permissions (2nd command).
    • If you've messed up with your partitions layout or filesystem (e.g., formatting f2fs), revert to factory setup (e.g., ext4 filesystem - since stock kernel doesn't support f2fs).
    • The last command will take some time (~10 minutes). BE PATIENT !
    • Some entries will appear to hang, do not interrupt or disconnect cable!
    • The "No space left on device" warning is NORMAL.
    • You should see command prompt & ROM info/release date at the end !
    7. Flash Download Mode Fix + Debuggable Kernel & Reboot
    • If you run into issues, it's because you've conflicting data from KK.
    • Do a factory reset in Settings to restore default LP databases!
    • You may use TitaniumBackup > Tap batch actions on the top right > Scroll down to "Manipulate data" > Run "Wipe data for user & system apps"
