Yeah I know that but I don't want to install gapps.
You can try alternative stores, such as f-droid (full of free and open source software, you can download apks from their website too, https://f-droid.org/) or Aptoide (based on f-droid engine, but more refined and with most apps you can find on google store, https://www.aptoide.com/). You don't have to create an account to use any of them, though Aptoide offers the option to do so.

Hello there, I would like to try this rom but I have some questions first, since I have an unofficial CM12 build installed which has the following issues and I was wondering if they carry on in this rom:
1) Is bluetooth working? On my rom, when I turn bluetooth on, it seems to search etc. but I can see no devices nor can other devices see me.
2) Is approximate/coarse location working properly? Currently, in order to get any kind of location awereness, I have to enable the High Accuracy mode, then coarse location works too (when indoors), apart from GPS. On battery save mode, no location can be acquired at all.

hi mates, i've bought an used g pad this week, i've immediately switched from validus rom (now discontinued) to this one and everything seems ok: no wifi issues or rotation problems, quite smooth and stable, no random reboots.
I've also flashed redkernel, eveything works but without great benefits compared to the included kernel...so great job, man!

ROM updated to v1.0.1. Switched to SaberMod toolchain on kernel and added Krait optimizations as well as our own SugarRush optimizations.

Also got up to date with CM code and added Omni Switch
Hi there, thanks for the awesome rom. Wondering if you're gonna attempt to do an android 5.1 version? Cheers

Slimport Audio

Has anyone else tried Slimport with this rom? When I try it there is no audio and the volume rocker is disabled and can't be rasied/lowered. Audio stops on the tablet as well. I've searched around and haven't heard complaints in general about the tablet so I'd assume it's a rom issue and not a device one. Fresh install and data wipe. Was running V5001a before flashing.

Edit: User error, ignore me.

no wireless N?

Does CM12 not support wireless N? I've seen this before but whenever I install a custom ROM, i could only find wireless G channels. On OEM stock rom (LG rom, Touchwiz, etc), I'm always able to find the N band. What's the deal?

Go into WiFi Advance settings, switch to 5G only and wait a few seconds, then switch back to Auto. That should fix it.

So the problem turned out to not be G vs N. I am unable to see any 5Ghz channels. 2.4 shows up fine in CM12/Candy. I went into Advanced settings (you're talking about doing this on Gpad right?) but don't see the "5Ghz only" switch you're talking about... :(

Wi-Fi frequency band is under Advanced.

Here's what I see under Advanced Wi-Fi
Network notification, Scanning always available, Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep, Install certificates, Wi-Fi Direct, WPS Push Button, and WPS Pin Entry. Nothing that will allow me to choose wifi freq. Am I not looking in the right place?

Sorry, I'm using a different rom now, so I can't check. When Vegasden answered you and said to go to Advanced, etc. I just assumed he was looking at the Advanced options and seeing the frequency band option there. I guess not?

I actually had your same problem with this rom, I posted about it in posts 48-49, but I never got an answer. So I switched to another rom. But I did try modifying settings.db for wifi_frequency_band and/or wifi_country_code, and I got some good results. But I decided to go to an AOSP lollipop rom anyway because I didn't feel like making those modifications.

Ahhh ok. Can you tell me which Lollipop rom you switched to?
I also noticed the same thing in my mom's LG G2 that I put Cloudy Rom 2.2 on. With stock LG rom, wifi was fine (both G and N). After Cloudy, only G. And I noticed this awhile back when I had GS4 and had CM11 on it. Is this a common problem? I wonder why....

Here's the thread for the rom I switched to...AOSP, not CM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/development/rom-android-5-0-lollipop-lrx21m-t2941207

I'm not sure about the terminology here. You're saying G vs. N, but you really want dual band, i.e. 5ghz in addition to 2.4ghz. I think there are plenty of devices that have N, yet they are not dual band. Again, I'm just repeating some of what you said before and am not clear on this topic.

As far as why this problem exists, I wish I knew! It's why I asked a couple of months ago. When I got no answer, I was surprised because I couldn't imagine that others weren't questioning it also. Glad you finally noticed it!

You're correct. It seems this Candy (or maybe CM-based ROM in general) only supports 2.4ghz. I have my home router to broadcast N at 5ghz and G at 2.4ghz. When I switched to broadcast N at 2.4ghz, then it showed up. However, I've seen this issue in other places, not just home, where wireless N is not picked up altogether - perhaps many places only does N at 5ghz now. So even if Candy supports 5ghz, there's no way to turn it on b/c there's no setting for it.

I followed your steps tried AOSP Lollipop but saw it was not rooted and stumproot didn't support the device. There was indeed the switch to set it to 5ghz, 2.4ghz, or Auto. However 5ghz only worked one time where it picked up the N signal but then when i switched back to Auto and then again to 5, it would not pick up the N signal again. It's weird... or it might not be fully baked. Plus, Auto mode seems like it just defaults to 2.4ghz so this was not an improvement for me. Then went to CM12 but it was not rooted either (really?). So I'm back on Candy5 :p (thank goodness for nandroid backup eh?) Will have to live with 2.4ghz for now.

The first post of that AOSP thread that I mentioned says to root, just flash the supersu zip in recovery. That's all I did. Not sure why you are trying other methods.

As far as problems accessing the bands, I have no trouble with my router which has both bands (again, confusing here, I'm calling it N for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz, but I may be wrong). I can set the frequency band option in Advanced to any of the 3 choices. If I set it to use only 2.4ghz, that's what it connects to. Similar for 5ghz setting. But for auto, I can see both SSID's, and it chooses one, usually 5ghz for me. But the other one is 'saved', so if I want that one, I can pick it instead. So maybe it's something about how your routers are configured?
