Hello

First of all let me say thank you for this amazing work.
This ROM is great. I left Miui.eu for this one and I'm happy with it.

My only concern is that I can't make Google Maps or Waze working.
Maps just crash with no error message and Waze is not able to download map data.
Am I missing something ? Or maybe this is a normal behavior because of MicroG ?

regards

Quickly, I see two possibilities:
- did you format data ? In twrp, go to wipe, press format, type yes
- you may need to flash vbmeta: grab this file (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cuSMKit9eOyEbm52wWebYnStgys3g85L/view?usp=drive_open) and type : fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img --disable-verity --disable-verification
Hello,

I would suggest to add the need of flashing vbmeta in the Mi 9 instructions. I also ran into boot loop and this did it. I was migrating from an official ROM to your awesome ROM.

Agreed with you!
But I feel the problem is that if you ever flashed Xiaomi EU, then never will need to flash vbmeta.
I did not realize that for a while, did not understand why other people needed it and me never lol. Of course, since Xiaomi EU was the first ever custom ROM I tried when I got the phone... :giggle:

I previously purchased a few apps on Google Play. Even though some are puchased as paid apps, others use in-app purchase method. That is not entirely working with MicroG as I was able to find out. Actually it does not work at all. There is however a discussion that leads to a solution. In F-droid repository of Nanodroid one can find a modified Google Play that should play well with MicroG and be able to re-activate in-app purchases.

I tried to uninstall FakeStore but it would not allow me. Is there a way to uninstall FakeStore at use the NanoDroid version of PlayStore instead? I believe you would not commit the Play Store to be installed automatically but for some it could be useful to have a possibility to switch.

I tried to flash this ROM on my MI9 (cepheus) device but ended up in a boot loop. Gonna try the steps above to solve that issue.

However, I am heavily reliant on a working google maps application. Has anyone tried to flash this ROM alongside opengapps (https://opengapps.org/) ? I know that I am kind of going against the whole principle of privacy here, but I guess it's still better than using MIUI. Any experiences ?

Hello
I wasn't able to make Google Maps work with this ROM. This seems to be linked to MicroG indeed.
If you want to use OpenGapps I will suggest to use a stock Lineage Rom instead (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ineageos-17-1-clean-stock-2020-07-10.4041523/)

I did that last week and I'm very happy with it.
I will give Iodé another try if they release a new build

I am not so sure about this approach. I also wanted one thing as I mentioned in my post above - I needed to have a possibility to unlock in-app purchases. This is not feasible as of now. So I tried OpenGapps; the pico version, something smallest that exists. I installed it, reboot my device and all of a sudden I felt like my device was bloated again. Google everywhere, popups, "please connect to google" etc. In-appm purchases worked though, the only benefit. I though though it would add just a few non-visible apps and frameworks that would make things work. It took me like 15 minutes to give up on that. Since there is no uninstaller, I reflashed.

My experience with OpenGapps.

Tried a lot of ROMs over the years - this one is the best! Congrats for the great work

Some small things:
- PureVPN app doesn't work and manual connection via system settings has very very slow data rates (server speed is not the problem).
- File explorer always starts with "recently used" and if you mark a file there, you cannot delete/move it. Maybe it's possible to add an option to change the startup folder of the file explorer.

So Merry Xmas & Happy Holidays!

Peace.
I'm using iodé right now for more than 3 months I think and I'm happy with it but sometimes it keeps rebooting, when I make a video call on WhatsApp and sometimes without reason.
An other thing I wish if iodé works on improving battery management .
Right now im not able to get update even if i check updater it keeps telling me that there is no update even if right now there was 2 updates I didn't got, any possibility to install those updates and why do update app doesn't do the work ?
Thank you a lot iodé team for the great work♥🙂

The last Google Maps version that works is 10.36.6, you can find it on apkmirror. Probably microG api has to be extended to make recent versions work.

You can use adb root to make such manipulations. Activate it the developer settings, and issue smth like adb shell rm -r system/product/priv-app/FakeStore

As I previously mentioned, Maps version 10.36.6 works perfectly.

Are you sure you use the last version (i.e. at least 20201127 build) ? VPN should now work... NordVPN and ProtonVPN at least work very well. Or maybe there's a special option in PureVPN which could be incompatble with iodé ?..

There were some stability problems a few updates ago. The updater has effectively problems to update old versions. You can install the last update manually, or install this version of the updater : https://gitlab.com/iode/ota/-/blob/master/UpdaterRescue.apk

Hello vince31fr,
would you share your kernel, devicetree, vendor repositories?

It would be really nice if others can take advantage on your impressive efforts. Im really interested to use it for self buildung.

Thank you!!
I'll share everything soon. However in the last update I completely changed the kernel, made a big work on the device tree, and I need to clean things up before releasing

I had 20201127 but updated today to the newest version.
Reinstalled PureVPN App, now it works. Tested ExpressVPN, also working.
