Your choice. You can use either stock or custom kernels (not the kernels that made for CM only).

After flashing GApps, wipe data and cache partition.
Reboot.
If you see Google Settings on your app drawer, you already have Google Play Services.
If not, register your gmail account, open Play Store and it will automatically download GooglePlayServices.
