I can't chage theme...apply and miui don't work

First impressions

1. The Welcome is almost completely off the screen when thte phone boots up the first time.
2. Wifi works for me during initial setup and afterwards as well (I was able to install an online theme over wifi).
3. I did a factory reset after first boot to get rid of everything on the external sd card. After it came up I no longer saw the external sd card. I put it in my Win7 laptop and it showed up as RAW. I formatted it as FAT32 and it made it available to the phone as well.

Can you recommend what type of app2sd solution to use with this ROM?
