For the newer versions do I need to format the partition in TWRP? I remember having to do it for other Android models

Hi. I ordered Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. Does anybody knows is China Rom works fawlesly or is it a must to install Rom from Xiaomi.eu? English language is ok for me. I want working Google, Gpay, bank apps...no need for gestures or extra features. I don´t want to brake my phone. Although seems so easy to flash it, I usually have bad luck. What are major benefits with xiaomi.eu Rom? Thanks!

The Chinese MIUI CN rom works very well. I could say better than Xiaomieu.

Google Play works. Obviously, you need to uninstall some Chinese applications, but the rom is really OK. You don't have to be afraid of him.

The benefits of xiaomieu are no Chinese applications, multi-language translation, adaptation to non-CN markets.

Hi, I have just got my new mi11U, it is the CN version. It is brand new with nothing flashed or updated. I want to follow the guide to use the EU ROM and I have a few questions:
- the first step says to apply any ota updates on the stock rom. Is there any particular reason for this or can I go ahead and unlock the bootloader and flash Eu rom without updating? I read in another post on this forum that updating it will *possibly affect the wait time of the unlock process? What is the disadvantage of not applying an OTA update first?
- is it true that the bootloader unlock process is a minimum of 1 week wait time, and if so, why is there a wait time?
- is it necessary for me to root the device? If I decide to root later when everything is flashed, is it possible to root without reformatting?
- for eu rom, it is a manual update process (ie no OTA), but is the process fairly simple and I won't lose my data every time I want to update ?
- currently I see eu rom is on a12 MIUI 13 stable. As far as I understand there is no official miui13 for the ultra yet. Would it be prudent to use the last miui12 stable build and wait a bit more before going to a12?

Thanks all!

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra
1 week, 268 hours. Just normal use throughout.
Its up to you if you want to update, I see no issues as you will need to format on ROM branch change anyway.
As for root, I don't, I have had no need to. With the EU ROM, all bank apps works, passes safteynet, unless you have a need, then don't. You can always root it later.
Currently there is no working twrp with A12, so all updates are using fastboot. Yes, you need a pc but it is quick and easy. When you first move over you will install possibly by fastboot but when you update, you just use the update.bat file and not the update and format file.
I use the EU weekly, so on A12 Miui 13, stable is alittle behind. We're here to help, so get the bootloader unlocked and use the time to read here and on the Xiaomi EU forums

- update OTA or not, nothing important
- true. They bring the time because CN version is lower price than global version, and CN version can easily become global with just flash global rom. So some people will try to sell CN version with "global" price easily if they dont bring the wait time
- It depends on what u want to do with your phone
- for MIUI 13, no TWRP yet, so u must update using fastboot, and no format data
- eu is based on CN rom, and in CN 11U has stable build of MIUI 13 from 1st day of 2022

    - unlock bootloader in MiUnlock
    - unpack xiaomi firmware file "xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11Pro_MI11Ultra_V12.5.3.0.RKACNXM_v12-11-fastboot.zip"
    - reboot and connect phone in fastboot mode
    - run script inside unpacked ROM folder "windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat"
    - wait till ROM will be flashed, that's it :)

I just also managed to flash my Mi 11 Ultra (CN version), using the instructions from the below post:

I went from CN 12.5.2 to .EU 12.5.3. Don't know how important the slot setting commands were (they felt quite important), but I managed to avoid bricking, so can't have hurt.

    First impressions:
    - V nice and smooth - feels as refined as I'd hoped
    - Google integration seems perfect
    - GPay still working. Haven't re-installed bank apps yet, but no reason to think they won't work.
    - Google Discover now working if I swipe left from home screen (had to change a setting to enable) - v happy about that
    - Calendar app icon now a lot neater (day doesn't stretch right to each edge of the icon)
    - Only quirk so far (as reported elsewhere): Google Maps is using its old app icon - I can live with that..!

    yes, com.xiaomi.misubscreenui is rear display..

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra (512Gb Chinese variant) successfully flashed from 12.5.30 to latest XiaomiEU 12.5.40.
I was following this steps (Link) (Using ORIGINAL 67W cable)

    PS: What I did additionally.
After bootloader unlocked (the phone will wipe everything by it self due to the process of unlocking bootloader) however after bootup I log in to MIUI account, after activated developers settings, I saw Oem Unlocking is ON and my phone is Unlocked.
I factory reset it one more time ! Log in to my MIUI account., activated developer settings., activated debuging mode, authorize devices to PC. Restarted to Fastboot.

    (ADMIN)
cmd: fastboot devices (my phone is there)
    cmd: fastboot getvar current-slot
    current-slot: b

    cmd: fastboot set_active a

Back to extract file folder XIaomiUE rom.

Press SHIFT and right click on windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat runs as Administrator.

    DONE !

PS Little advice if your phone sending superimg 1/8 too long , just press Y.

    GOOD LUCK

I LOVE the ROM! Thank you devs !!!
I'm flash xiaomi.eu with less job to do:
-After unlocked bootloader, phone boots up, when you get to home screen, reboot to fast boot and connect to PC (didn't login to miui account, and didn't factory reset again)
-unzip xiaomi.eu ROM package, run "windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat " as Administrator
-wait till everything will be flashed, no need to set_active slot, as this is already done by script.

Don't know why nobody fallows original tutorial from xiaomi.eu here in first post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...mi-eu-rom-for-xiaomi-mi-11-pro-ultra.4260617/

Also very happy from xiaomi.eu ROM ;)
