well i could update this to 2.3.30 aswell but digitalhigh seems to have a pretty good build thered really be no point in me posting the same build

Apparently his build adds a bunch of stuff and has a bunch of bugs that he has to iron out first. Not to mention it's twice the size of any MIUI release from here. I'm on 2.2.23 from here and loving it, but I understand how you'd feel like porting the new release here would be kind of redundant. No problem if you don't, 2.23 still is awesome enough for me.

Huh? Joel please post your update. Thanks.
Plus, this is supposed to be the official build. I've never heard of an official build not updating because an unofficial one has.
What's happening here?

to be fair he got on the project to port v4. GB updates aren't going to change that much any more, and we can get by with old builds unless he can fix something that's broken in the most recent official release. Other than a new version number I can't imagine 2.3.30 adds much more than 2.2.17 did for gingerbread.

Be fair? lol. :)
I don't want production to stop because someone else is doing builds. An official one would be cool. I like stock components but perhaps I'm the only one. This thread has gotten very quiet again.

I agree with Vanessaem on this. I like having the official build and the stock components. Bring it on if you want please, there are those of us that would appreciate it! :)

I'm just curious...

Have any of you actually tried my build?

The only things I've added are facebook, go launcher, maps, voice search, and youtube; CM7 media, spare parts, and a different default theme and bootscreen.

And the standard miui.us theme is still included...hence the extra size.

I've tried it. I liked the boot animated, it was bad ass. For some reason sms split wouldn't work for me though. Your build is smooth, I liked it a lot

Yeah I would much prefer a stock build. Not that I don't appreciate your work dh, but half that stuff I don't want and the other I would restore anyways. I know I could modify it (I mess with every zip before I flash it usually... Lol), but I like a nice, stock, official base to start with.

No disrespect AT ALL AND I MEAN NONE AT ALL! Just wanna make that's clear first!:) but I agree with duces ? Why take it on if we are going to worry about v4 first? Why not keep the official updated until something with camera and what not can work? 99.9% of the gb release works. Unlike the v4 which has all those issues? Again no disrespect Joel just woundering?

IMO I'd rather have a fully working official update rather than 4.0 with all the issues right now.

So why then, joelz, did you accept this OP? I don't get it.

@dh - rather than split the thread, why not just contribute here?

@matt - hope source build goes well, please keep this thread up to date :)

As I mentioned in private...

I made my own thread for a few reasons.

1. I'm new at developing. There are bound to be issues.

2. I don't necessarily want to be constrained by the MIUI.US build "standard". I love their stuff, but I want to have the ability to add/change stuff that other MIUI fans may not like.

3. My schedule is damned busy, and I have pretty bad ADD. I have absolutely no idea how long I'll feel like doing this, or how much time I'll have at my disposal. My bands' album release is May 5, I'm getting married in July, I have a 3-year old to care for, and I'm also in the process of becoming an LLC for my IT business.

4. I wasn't asked. ;)

Before this goes down a road that i fear it could.

Joelz most of the people in this thread would prefer to see a build from you since it would be an official miui build and other reasons (that i will try to explain below). The people in here don't mind maintaining the thread, helping with questions, troubleshooting issues, or even providing fixes, they just want to know that this rom will have support from the developer.

That being said, everyone else, relax. Joel will give a build. As well as matt will give you something to play with if you want. Just relax. It will happen. Don't harrass anyone (and you don't need to defend yourself, I'm not accusing anyone just making a statement), we've been patient, and be patient we shall continue.

Digital, i admire your willingness to jump in and do some stuff, it's what was needed here. The problem that has been created here, is you argued and argued to get this very thread development only so we could work on stuff as a community, and then as soon as all off topic chatter leaves you start a new thread. You scorned some of the best miui supporters here. All of your arguments for why you started your own thread are also arguments for why not to start a new thread. And you kind of act surprised that everyone didn't jump straight to your build. More than likely if you would have posted it in here most everyone would have tried it. I personally don't care anymore, I'm done with miui for a while, when I decide to run it again I will look at the options available and see what I want to do. Knowingly or unknowingly you hurt the "feelings" of this miui thread, and yes I know that sounds lame, but the truth is often lame. And I think you deserve to hear it in an unbiased non flammatory way. So respect for making your own build, but dont be surprised that some of these people refuse to run it.

Also, I was going for a multi quote record, but i fear I failed.

I'll not sure that there is a whole lot that can be done about the "apps on screen" dilemma. it's intrinsic to miui.

Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5

Yeah, I had thought about this as well. It's that whole Iphone looking system, I just would have liked an option to at least hide some.

I mentioned this before but I don't think anyone cared or noticed...lol. :p
When you set up your screen the way you want it, as in putting things in folders(no way of getting around that nor do I think that's a problem MIUI developers are trying to "fix" because let's face it, this ROM is supposed to look like the iPhone), go into MIUI backup and save your desktop setup. By doing that anytime you updated or reflash MIUI and you restore your desktop setting, your apps will automatically be placed into folders.

Brought to you from my EVOlutionary 3-Dimensional Smartphone.

I usually only back up my apps, never the ROM itself. I feel like if I switch to another ROM I should always start fresh and never restore anything from the previous. I know it might be me being stupid because it probably has no affect what so ever.

well i could update this to 2.3.30 aswell but digitalhigh seems to have a pretty good build thered really be no point in me posting the same build

Please post it. Remember this is your Thread and your build now. Don't pay attention to what anyone else is doing or saying.

Be fair? lol. :)

Yes it has gone quiet and it bothers me even though I don't say anything.

MHO, leave the past behind or MIUI is never going to climb out of this hole. I think DigitalHigh should work together with Joel and Matt to get this build up and running again with everything working. As of now, the ROM is in a slight decline like it or not. There is no fix unless we team up and work at it together. I'm not taking anyone side here but people make mistakes. Get over it and move on. I myself am very satisfied with the last release even though MMS gets me frustrated at times but I can work around it with Go SMS as others have said a million times. Until I see a release with anything close to no bugs, I'm not moving to any other ROM.
