Ok so you've tried using ODIN. Have you tried flashing this using Philz Recovery? The link is in my OP. Also do a full wipe before flashing. To do this in Philz:

  1. Boot into recovery
  2. Select "Wipe Data/Factory reset"
  3. Select "Clean to Install a New Rom"
  4. Select "Yes I will install a new ROM".
  5. Then flash this ROM.

This is what I did to install the rom.

I was on stock mf9 odexed rooted.

1 install mk2 modem only from unknown using Odin 3.07 in PDA
2 boot phone and checked that modem took. It did.
3 open goo manager
4 install twrp using goo
5 reboot into twrp
6 wipe davlik and cache
7 install philz v6.00.8 zip using twrp
7 wipe davlik and cache
8 reboot into philz
9 wipe data for new rom
10 install mk2 rom and reboot

This worked for me. If I understand things properly I should have the mf9 bootloader, all the updated mk2 modem/firmware/rom, and no knox. I have checked for Knox apps and don't see anything so, I think it worked as I expected it to. If I am mistaken someone please correct me. This method was very easy.

Everything seems to be running smoothly. Opened the camera and it updated the firmware, voice mail updated, wifi working.

It's the first time I've ever seen that. Given that there wasn't much changed in the releases from MJA to MK2 you pretty much lucked out. I wouldn't make a habit of it though.

In general incompatible kernels cause bootloops. A quick search of xda or google will show you this.

Thanks a lot for putting this ROM together man....it's about time someone did...and I am not qualified! You rock! Any reports as to whether the MJA HotSpot Mod will work on this?
You could always make a backup and try. There's not much that has changed between the releases. However my understanding of the hotspot mod is that it involves editing a framework jar file. So if that's changed then it won't work and will most certainly cause FC errors causing you to have to restore from your backup (or reflash your ROM)

Tried installing this on my phone and it bricked it. Same for my wife's phone. Both on MJA Stock. Now our backups aren't even working. When I restore them everything is force closing and I mean everything. The backups were made right before the rom install. Using Philz Recovery.

Did you do a full wipe? And by brick do you mean a bootloop? I tested this out quite a bit before posting it up. I wiped my phone several times and flashed it. To be clear: You cannot just dirty flash this over MJA. You have to wipe it. I posted the method a few posts back. I will update the OP with install instructions.

If you're getting as far as even seeing a force close your phone is NOT bricked. Do a FULL wipe and all will flash correctly.

To install this:

  1. Boot into recovery
  2. Select "Wipe Data/Factory reset"
  3. Select "Clean to Install a New Rom"
  4. Select "Yes I will install a new ROM".
  5. Then flash this ROM.

Yes you have to wipe everything. Including data.

The same applies to your restores. You cannot just restore this over what's already on your phone. Select "Clean to install a New Rom" then do your restores.

It was softbricked. Stuck at the Samsung screen on both and yes I did full wipes using Philz. I flashed stock rooted MJA odin on each. After that tried restoring our back ups that were made right before the rom install and everything from gapps to system FC's

The first boot takes a LONG time to boot. It has to build caches. It may appear to freeze but it's not. This will NOT softbrick a phone. Also I don't see how this could affect a backup if you did a full wipe before you restored? There's NOTHING left after that to be corrupt. Please describe your full wipe process exactly? PM me if you want and I'll walk you through installing this.

Just flashed Unknown's MK2 modem with Odin 3.07 and then this ROM in Philz. Software and baseband both reading MK2. No issues....smooth as silk so far. As long as people follow the instructions to the letter it should work....at least it did on mine. Thanks a lot RawIntellect!
Regarding the MJA HotSpot Mod...I read through the latest posts on Crawj's HotSpot Thread. Jar file is definitely different and it will not work on MK2 (yet :) ) Guess we will have to be patient until someone fixes it up.

I went to factory reset/data wipe. Wipe for new rom install. After it wiped I installed the rom. Rebooted it, waited 45 mins and nothing happened. Just stuck on the Logo. Flashed MJA odin. After that tried to restore my backup all 3 in fact. Then everything FC's. That's it. Lost all my apps. -_-

What release of Philz are you running? and did you check the md5 sum I posted in the OP to see if it matches? Maybe a bad download?

And you lost your backups? How? Wiping as instructed won't wipe your sdcard. I just don't see how you could have done that? When you go to restore your phone you should have done a full wipe again. Not just ODIN'd over old data. Wiping the phone prior to a restore formats /cache /dalvik /system /data /sdcard/.android_secure. There is NOTHING left of my ROM to interfere with a restore.

Lol I'm using the one in the OP. Yes I checked the md5. I've been flashing roms a long time. I know the process.
I'm trying to help you. I know this works. What you're saying just does not make any sense. Nothing is left after a full wipe. Nothing. So how could my ROM affect your restore?
