So I desperately want to downgrade from oreo to LOS 14.1. My last attempt was a failure. So I have a new proposal.
1. Fastboot flash Nougat (except Bootloader and Gtp)
2. My device will soft brick. (Restarting again and again and showing "erasing" message repeatedly.)
3. Now I fastbot flash TWRP and then LOS 14.1

Wil this work? Kindly help.

eu tive o mesmo problema mas, resolvi da seguinte forma, baixei as duas versoes do android 8.1 flashable por twrp opp -37 e opp 37-2 botei no cartao sd desliguei o aparelho e iniciei em modo recovery twrp apos isso formatei da seguinte forma https://youtu.be/T-7neHzSIvc

reiniciei twrp e dei flash nas builds se nao funcionar uma tente a outra espero que te ajude
I had the same problem but, I solved the following, I downloaded the two versions of the android 8.1 flashable by twrp opp -37 and opp 36-7 I put the sd card I turned off the device and started in recovery twrp mode after this I formatted as https : //youtu.be/T-7neHzSIvc

I restarted twrp and gave flash in the builds if it does not work try one another I hope it helps

hi guys, I also had problem getting out of oreo to go back to a custom nougat rom .. the sign of the sin cards did not work as if the imei were lost, so i did it like that! flashiei a rom montana stock deodexada nougat ... by twrp ... then I connected on the PC and installed sotck nougat with February patch by adb .... after restarting the chips started to work I flashed the twrp of the squid .. and reinstalled the desired custom. and everything is back to normal ... sorry for the horrible English I'm from Brazil

Change log: November 18 Security Update

NOTE: Like so many other users, I too updated my device with OREO and stuck with that. I haven't tried downgrading it because I don't want to end up with a hard-bricked device once again. Point here is the new build is not tested. So please take a TWRP backup before using this build. Don't forget to post me even if works fine.

You can use this method to downgrade back to Nougat. I confirm this working on the India variant Moto G5S.

It is time to say goodbye. I exchanged my g5s device for Nokia 6.1 plus.

Journey with g5s was so exciting. With all your help and support, we managed to bring the first custom rom for this device. We managed to come up with tools and procedure to unbrick the device. I thank for all your support.

G5S is one of the solid device. Unfortunately it is a product of Motorola and we required their mercy to get security updates to the least.

I wish everyone all the best. Once again thanks for all your kind support. If anyone wants to take over future builds of LOS14.1, please feel free.

Wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year in advance.

Thank You for your contributions KS. You made using G5S fun by opening up the custom ROM scene with your Lineage(upon which many others were built). Also, thank You for helping a lot of users revive their dead phones. Wishing You all the best. We will miss seeing posts with the ending Thanks KS :)

I already have , Reviver Kernel, a build of LineageOS 14.1 (updated from where @kalyansundhar left) and I am starting Oreo bringup for the device. I'm not sure if I understood correctly: Would you continue maintaining this ROM, that is the nougat version, or is your main goal developing Oreo+? It would be great to have somebody keeping Lineage 14.1 alive - it's simply the smoother choice for the g5s..

    How to install the rom ?
    • Copy the rom to your G5S.
    • Restart in recovery (squid or Sevenmaxs)
    • Take a backup of existing ROM.
    • Wipe clean (Cache, Data, Dalvik/ART, System)
    • Install ROM.
    • Make a wipe cache.
    • Reboot System.
    Initial load would take time.
