How To Install


If you have 2nd Init installed already skip to step 3, if not start at step 1. These steps assume you already have flashed the Nordic Froyo rom to your Defy.

1. Download Defy 2nd init installer 1.4 ONLY from here.
2. Run the 2nd init installer following the instructions closely.
3. Boot into Custom BootMenu by pressing volume down when device flashes a blue led at bootup. Set default boot mode to 2nd init.
4. Select Recovery, Custom Recovery. Choose "Wipe Data/Cache" option. Let finish.
5. Choose Install .zip from SD Card, select the MIUI roms .zip and let it finish.
6. Let the rom boot for first time.
7. Done! Enjoy!

after that install the fixes via custom recovery "install zip from sd" reboot

Im installing now. By 'get this device going' do you mean you will be doing the weekly updates?

just installed it. looks great, but somehow, not as customisable as CM7. had to treat it like a jailbroken iphone...lol!

Advice

Instead of competing for the "pure english" award you should collaborate with others miui developers to make a better rom. And stop removing apps from the chinese one, they know what are doing. If you want to add or remove something do as in the spanish one, apps are placed in a folder on sd card.
PS English is included in German and Russian versions too, and the Spanish version has some nice apps added.

you can use my moded miui for oficial miui spanish forum miui.es , it has the latest bootmenu 0.86 and it is faster than oficial miui, of course you can use the english pack to translate it, but to recieve ota update from our updater, you should remove the build.prop from the english pack and leave the spanish build.prop before flashing it.

Mines works. But it still force closes, it's really strange because I access the theme manager and when I choose a them everything is OK, until I click apply, it force closes although the theme is still applied, I don't get it...but in all in all, my quadrant score @1200MHz is 2418. I also noticed OpenGL performence is SIGNIFICANTLY better than stock motoblur. In Quadrant the moon spinning around the planet used to only be 10-20 FPS with artifacts on 2.1 and 2.3.3 leak, but now I get 50-60 FPS and 25-30 in the walkthrough of the room. Its a lot better, 2d performance is identicle though

P.S. it is very stable at 1.2GHz and the battery s lasting a lot longer than the 2.3.3 leak rom. I'm very very impressed.

Edit: I just tried theme manager again. It decided to stop working completely now. Force closes when I select a theme for download now, never used to
