[ROM] [N-R] [UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS for MicroG

Search This thread
Right after a clean installation of the ROM, the microG services are not fully installed and properly set up, this increases the entering threshold for the new users.
Is it possible to include in the ROM something like MinMicroG-NoGoolag from https://github.com/friendlyneighborhoodshane/minmicrog_releases/releases ? They have done a good job in minimizing all the efforts that have to be done after the clean ROM installation.
As an option, it could be a separate edition of the ROM, because I guess some people do not want microG installed by default.
This microg installer used microg app as this rom.so whats your problem?you must only grant permissions and if you want login into your gmail acc

Thank you for your replies.

@Exodusnick, it is true that I don’t restart my phone frequently, and I have not tried to change the settings, so I have not experienced the issue with resetting settings after a restart. But I can confirm that the functionality worked fine in the previous build, the charging stopped at 75% as expected. Also, I had temporarily disabled this feature to perform phone encryption, and it worked well after the reboot.

@daywalk3r666, regarding the microG setup, I will try to explain my experience first and then what I mean by optimal microG installation.

At first, I have tried the build from @Ivan_Meler with MinMicroG-NoGoola and it was my first experience with microG ROM. It was great, and I have used it for several months until I was fed up with muted audio in video calls problem.

Then I have decided to move to this ROM because it is dedicated to microG use and has OTA updates. After installation, I have spotted the differences in the used microG packages:
  1. This ROM had no Aurora Store, Aurora Droid, Aurora Services, now they are included.
  2. This ROM has no microG settings app, Services Framework Proxy and DroidGuard helper were missing, I had to install them manually.
  3. In the microG settings app, almost no permission was granted, while with MinMicroG-NoGoola almost only spoofs signature was missing.
  4. Only two location modules are available, while with MinMicroG-NoGoola there are around seven.
  5. I have faced that several applications from Google Play/Aurora Store were not able to find Google Play Services and does not work.
I have used this ROM in that configuration for several weeks and then reinstalled it but with MinMicroG-NoGoola package and it worked fine until yesterday's OTA update.

Please mind that I have not so much experience in microG setup and I have installed this ROM without MinMicroG-NoGoola only once. Probably due to the lack of clear instructions I have missed some important steps that have to be done after a clean installation.
Anyway, I think that fewer additional steps after the installation are always better.

All the best,
Aleksandr

Of course my Rom has microG settings there is no need to install additional , you just have to enable it and give permissions . And DroidGuard helper what do you want with it? I last used it on the 16.0 version because it still worked. Since 17.1 version DroidGuard helper no longer works to get safetynet successfully. And what do you want with so much location modules ? The ones I have are perfectly sufficient and work. And Aurora Store also works without problems.

And one more info I test my created roms before I release them and if something doesn't work I won't release them either.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Google Play Services: The surveillance bug from Google 😂

But let's be honest whether microg or Gapps both send information to Google I don't know now how much information that MicroG sends to Google without being logged in to a Google account. I assume not much, but if you don't need it, and you don't depend on Google, don't use Gapps or microg. 😉👍

I also use this Rom but I have only minmal applications installed to send out as little information as possible.

Samsung Galaxy S7
Is there any complete guide on rooting, unlocking bootloader and flashing LinageOS on Galaxy S7 safely ? I've only ever tinkered with my Nexus 7 and i think Samsung phones are a bit different. It would be very helpful because i'm a newbie and wouldn't want to brick my S7

There are many instructions on the net. Just ask Google. Just like you did with the Nexus 7.

Thank you for your responses.

Probably, I don’t understand the concept of microG, but I thought that it is a project to replace Google Play Services. If an application does not find them, that means microG is not fully installed or it is not set up properly.

For instance, in the recient build, I have a problem with Geohash Droid from F-Droid. Probably I miss some important steps...

Do you have any suggestions on what has to be done to make it work?

Thank you in advance for your help.

All the best,

Aleksandr

Thank you for your answer.

Indeed, I did not know that GSM Location Service requires this step to work, thank you for the good advice. And thank you for your suggestion of OSMand+, it is an amazing application, I enjoy it every time I use it.

However, my problem is not navigation applications, but applications that rely on third-party maps. As you can see from the first screenshot attached to my previous message, the application says that it does not find Google Play Services, and probably it is because something is wrong with microG services.

All the best,

Aleksandr

Hi, thanks for the ROM, it's been working flawlessly since I installed it in May :)

Do you think it would be possible to ship the next version with the system webview instead of bromite (or alongside, as long as we can choose in the developer settings)?
I unfortunately have some apps that don't work at all because of bromite webview :/ (Home Assistant is one of them and developers are not willing to cooperate at all)

    Replace bromite webview with these
I fail to understand how I replace bromite webview and with what. The package on apkmirror is a bundle, or at least, it needs trichrome. Do you happen to know a working procedure to replace bromite webview?

Edit: nevermind, I flashed 18.1 from Ivan Meler + minmicrog and everything works fine. I'm losing OTA updates but I can live with it. Thank you for taking the time to help me :)

you have to install the build manually because i forgot to add something to the fstab and recovery.fstab. since ivan meler does not offer ota.
OTA in Build is set up, since the build of 20.04.2019 the automatic update works.

In the future, updates can be downloaded to your mobile phone via lineageos_updates, and
will be installed automatically. if it is not possible to install the update automatically or you want to install it manually, proceed as follows,
