• If you are experiencing issues logging in, we moved to a new and more secure software and older account passwords were not able to be migrated. We recommend trying to reset your password, then contacting us if there are issues.
  • Nearly done! Migration cleanup is mostly done. There are a small number of issues left that we continue to work on, but all the heavy lifting is done. We still would love to hear feedback over at this thread and also check out the new XDA app! Thanks and we hope you enjoy the new forums, and thanks for your support of XDA <3

THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL BUILD, DO NOT REPORT BUGS OR ASK QUESTIONS TO ZEPHIK, HE DOES NOT SUPPORT NEXUS 4 ANYMORE. I REPEAT, DO NOT REPORT BUGS OR ASK QUESTIONS TO ZEPHIK
I'm actually building this for myself, since I want to experience Chroma on my device, as I can't afford a new one. I'm sharing it to you guys, and I hope that this could be useful for you if you want to experience Chroma on our beloved mako.

Features are not complete yet, zephiK is slowly merging features, I will try to keep up with his updates.

Chroma is a lightweight AOSP ROM focused on security exploits, battery, performance and stability.
The philosophy of Chroma is to stay relatively close to Google's stock Lollipop with the additions of essential features that should have been included with stock Lollipop as well as providing the most up-to-date security patches to prevent vulnerabilities from being exploited.

Features:
Layers support
Silent mode
Native LED notifications (solid, limited to RGB colors)

Status Bar Customization:
Battery Style (Icon Portrait/Landscape, Circle, Text, Hide) and Battery Percentage
Clock & Date (Show/Hide, Color, Alignment, AM/PM, Show/Hide Date, Date Style, Date Format)
Brightness Control (long press status bar to change brightness)
Double-tap status bar to turn screen off

Tile customizations (LTE, screenshot, sync, heads up, expanded desktop, and more)
Status bar weather
Enlarge 1st row, show 4 tiles per row, show/hide brightness slider
Heads up notifications
Show/hide brightness slider
Advanced location tile

Navigation bar customization
Rearrange navigation bar to your liking
Navigation bar height (48/44/40/36/32/28/24/20/0dp)
Show/hide arrow keys while typing
Kill app back button
Double tap navigation bar to sleep
Navigation ring customization
Clear all recents button (enable/disable) and location (top left, top right, top center, bottom left, bottom right, bottom center)

Lock screen customization
Lock screen wallpaper
Power menu customization (power off, reboot, screenshot, airplane mode)
Advanced Reboot (reboot/soft reboot/recovery/bootloader)

Volume rocker customization:
Wake device with volume keys when screen off
Long press volume up/down keys to skip track when screen off
Volume key adjustment sound (enable/disable)
Volume key cursor control
Volume key reorientation based on portrait/landscape

Other:
A large number of optimizations, memory leak fixes, security patches to prevent exploits
Animated expandable volume panel
Long press recents to swap back to previous app
Camera shutter sound
... and more (see changelog)

Special thanks to:
  • zephiK for developing Chroma
  • Sykopompos for your device tree
  • CallMeAldy for Kernel & Source
  • People who have tipped/donated to zephiK to support ongoing development
  • CyanogenMod as well as the open source community

Instructions
Pre-requisites: unlocked bootloader, latest TWRP recovery
1. Download ROM, Gapps and put it on the phone's internal storage.
2. Boot into TWRP recovery.
3. Coming from a different ROM? Perform a factory reset using TWRP. If you're upgrading from Chroma ROM, proceed to dirty flash (nandroid backup before flashing is a good idea). Do a clean flash from Lollipop.
4. Clean Installation: Flash ROM, GApps
....Dirty Flash: Flash ROM, no need to wipe
5. Reboot and enjoy.

And here it is, Chroma 20151017! (Based on 20151016 Chroma, I'm almost 12 hours further than zephiK, so builds will always be one or two days ahead, or maybe it can take a few days)

Official Changelog: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1c7wNrT0khaipv-M0Z35OPQ8sxPHO-e9-Rk945fo4iJE/edit
Mako-specific changes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TYqHhEtIbsyl_Y8vCR2Vip1vrnkePTBStjLL0_QRQcE
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/68t6r0cehusnm5o/chroma_mako-2015-10-17.zip
Gapps (Txuki Gapps as recommended by Sykopompos, works better than benzo chroma gapps, had no problems so far using this): https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347836913

Enjoy! Clean flash should be fine, but if you change Gapps I recommend you to clean flash. You should make backup before dirty flashing, and if you have no problems, you can go on, if it gives you problem, just clean flash. With this new Gapps I don't experience any problem with gmail, so I recommend you to change gapps.

Remember, do NOT report bugs or ask questions to zephiK, this is an unofficial build!

EDIT: For some reason this build has stock bootanimation instead of chroma's bootanimation, see three posts below me for more info. In the next build (hopefully) this would be fixed. So please, don't ask about it.
